Make unusual paper snowflakes with your own hands. New voluminous paper snowflakes

Today we will show you how easy it is to make beautiful snowflakes yourself to decorate your apartment, home or office for the New Year. Cutting them out using the examples of the diagrams and templates given here will not be difficult even for a beginner!

What needs to happen first is to select suitable color and paper thickness. It will be much easier to make snowflakes from thin paper: It can be easily bent and cut without applying special effort.

Of course, you can use thick paper blanks. But then it’s better to take a sharp knife or scalpel instead to prevent the edges of the paper from moving. For most of us, cutting with scissors is more familiar and convenient: even ordinary hairdressing salons are suitable for making perfectly smooth contours. And small details are best done using miniature manicure scissors.

It is worth deciding on the size of the paper in advance. The best option in most cases is A5 sheets (this is half of a regular A4 landscape sheet).

Once the appropriate material has been selected, you can proceed directly to manufacturing.

We tried to make some really nice paper snowflakes. This is one of the best we have done.

The diagram below shows how you can fold the paper to further cut out the classic 6-pointed snowflake.

Fold a sheet of paper to cut out a six-pointed snowflake

As can be seen from the diagram, a regular sheet of paper of the format we have chosen is folded as shown in Figure (b), then the excess part is cut off (Figure (c)). Next, unfold the folded paper and bend it along the dotted lines as shown in figure (d). The resulting figure (Figure (e)) must be folded again along the dotted line and then trim off the excess edges. That's it, the paper is ready for cutting out snowflakes.

There are other ways to fold a triangle. For example, the workpiece can be made as in the figure below.

How to cut a snowflake?

You can see the entire process from folding a piece of paper to cutting out a beautiful New Year's snowflake in the video below. Particularly complex curls and thin slits are best achieved with a utility knife.

If you already know how to fold paper to cut out snowflakes, then you can go straight to the templates. You can start with simple ones. Examples are shown in the figure below.

How to make your own template in various PC programs

Agree, a lot of time and paper can be spent on cutting out snowflakes blindly and choosing at least a few normal ones from the many freaks. In order to carefully work out the shape of a snowflake before moving on to cutting it out in kind, it is best to use some kind of CAD program.

We draw the diagram ourselves

Original schemes can be created using computer-aided design systems. Let's look at this using the KOMPAS-3D program as an example. If you know how to work with it, use it; if you don’t want to understand it, skip this part of the article, it’s not for you.

Let's create a 3D model of our future snowflake. Open “File” - “Create”, select “Part”. First we need to create a sketch. We draw two auxiliary lines in it, intersecting at the origin of coordinates at an angle of 30° to each other, as shown in the figure below.

Creating a snowflake model in the Compass 3D program

Next, at right angles to the vertical auxiliary line, you can draw another line. The result is a triangular area limited on all sides. In this sector we have to draw the future template of a six-rayed snowflake. To construct various openwork elements and curls, you can use the Spline by Points tool. The result should be a snowflake template like this.

Sketch for cutting out paper snowflakes with 6 rays in the Compass 3D system

Now let's see what a snowflake cut out using this template will look like. Select our drawing with the mouse and click the “Symmetry” button in the “Editing” tab.

Create a template for cutting snowflakes from paper

Now all that remains is to select the resulting ray of a six-pointed snowflake, in the “Editor” tab, select the “Copy” - “Circle” item. We indicate the center - the origin of coordinates and 6 copies in increments of 60 degrees. It should look like the picture below.

The snowflake is almost ready

If you wish, you can display everything in 3D and take a better look at the resulting beauty. But in principle, everything is already clearly visible, so there is no need to waste time on this. If you are satisfied with the result, just save the above template to disk in a suitable format, print it on a sheet of paper of the required size, and you can start cutting out the snowflake.

Snowflake 3D model No. 1

To make a snowflake template from a three-dimensional model, create a 3D drawing in Compass (Click the mouse in the top menu “File” - “Create” - “Drawing”), insert a view from this model into the document, select the appropriate scale and print it on a printer.

Paper snowflake template from 3D model

Of course, using a CAD program to make paper snowflake templates is not the easiest option. But don’t be upset, because there is an intuitive and simple program for drawing snowflakes - the Snowf graphic editor, which even a child can use. When drawing a pattern in this program, you do not need to draw any axes, mirror anything, etc. - everything is done absolutely automatically. The intuitive interface allows you to master the program in a matter of minutes. To draw snowflakes, you just need to move the mouse and watch how the pattern on the screen changes.

Other options for making snowflakes

Snowflakes made using a hole punch look original. Making them is easier and faster than cutting out complex patterns.

To cut out such multi-beam snowflakes, a sheet of paper is folded according to the pattern that is clearly shown in the article (see Blank No. 2).

    Step 2: draw a pattern and cut out a snowflake

    How to make a voluminous snowflake

    You will need:

    Paper of any color (preferably not too thin);

    Scissors;

    Stapler (you can use glue or tape);

    Simple pencil;

    Ruler.

    1. Prepare 6 squares of paper. The squares must be the same size. Bend each square in half, diagonally.

    * If you want to make a small snowflake, then the side of each square can be 10 cm, and if it is large, then the whole 25 cm. For large snowflakes it is better to use thick paper. For beginners, it is advisable to make the first snowflake small.

    2. Using a ruler and pencil, mark 3 parallel lines. The distance between each line should be the same. When making a large snowflake, you can make more stripes.

    * In the image, the lines are drawn with a red felt-tip pen to make it easier to see.

    3. Using scissors, start cutting the paper from the edge, not reaching a little to the middle (about 3-5mm).

    4. Turn the paper back into a square and start rolling the first row of strips into a tube (see picture).

    * Strips can be fastened with a stapler or glue.

    5. Turn the paper over to the other side and fasten the next two strips, also fastening them with a stapler, glue or tape.

    6. Turn the snowflake over again and connect the last strips.

    7. The same process must be repeated with the remaining five paper squares.

    8. When all the parts of the snowflake are ready, they need to be connected in the middle with a stapler. First you need to connect half of the snowflake, that is, 3 of its parts, and then the remaining 3 parts.

    9. Staple both halves together, as well as all the places where the snowflakes touch. This way the snowflake will not lose its shape.

    10. Start decorating the snowflake the way you want. You can use stickers, glitter, etc.

    * Yours beautiful craft You can hang it on a window, wall, or Christmas tree.

    How to make a big snowflake from paper strips

    You will need:

    Thick paper of any color;

    Scissors;

    1. Cut 12 strips of paper 1cm wide and 20cm long.

    * You can slightly increase the size of the strips - width 1.5cm, length 30cm.

    2. Fold the two strips crosswise in the middle and glue them together as shown in the picture.

    3. Add 2 more strips vertically and horizontally, intertwine them and secure with glue if necessary.

    4. Glue the corner strips together as shown in the picture. We get this figure, which represents half a snowflake. Using the same technology, prepare the other half of the snowflake.

    5. Now it's time to glue the halves together. To do this, you need to rotate each one 45 degrees. Glue the loose strips to the corresponding corners of the petals (see picture).

    * You can glue the halves in the middle so that the snowflake looks like a flower.

    How to make beautiful snowflakes from pasta

    You will need:

    Pasta of various shapes;

    Acrylic paints;

    Brush;

    Decorations to taste (glitter, stickers, artificial snow (you can use sugar or salt instead), etc.);

    * To make it easier, place the pasta on a large flat plate.

    * To avoid staining the table with glue and paint, cover it with paper.

    1. Before you start making a snowflake, you need to come up with a shape, i.e. what it will look like. At this stage, it is also worth considering what form will be durable and will not come apart.

    2. Once you've come up with a shape, you can start gluing. IN in this case Moment glue is used, but if you don’t have it, you can try replacing it with PVA glue.

    2.1 First glue the inner circle of the snowflake. After this, you need to leave the glue to dry and this small part of the snowflake to get stronger.

    2.2 Start gluing the next circle.

    * Using the same scheme, you can “build” several circles, but remember that the material is fragile, which means you shouldn’t get excited and make huge snowflakes.

    2.3 After gluing, leave your snowflakes for a day.

    3. Time to paint the snowflake. For this you can use acrylic paint. Maybe, the best option there will be paint in a can, but it’s better to apply it on outdoors and not indoors.

    * You should not use gouache - not only will it take longer to dry, but it may also crack if applied in a thick layer.

    *If you're using acrylic paint, you'll also want to choose a brush that can get into all the crevices of the pasta.

    * It is advisable to have several brushes of different sizes for convenience. If necessary, you can apply a second coat of paint.

    4. Decorating a snowflake. You can use glitter or artificial snow, for example.

    * Snowflakes do not dry quickly, so it is better not to rush to hang them on the Christmas tree immediately after making them. You can hang these snowflakes both on the Christmas tree and on the wall.

    How to make a snowflake from a toilet paper reel

    One such reel is enough for just one snowflake.

    Press the bobbin down and cut it into 8 equal pieces (each about 1 cm high).

    Simply glue the resulting rings together.

    Now you can decorate your snowflake as you wish.

    How to make a very beautiful snowflake from buttons or rhinestones

    In stores you can buy ready-made thick snowflakes made from cardboard or felt.

    But you can make such a snowflake yourself. Simply draw your snowflake on cardboard and cut it out. You can draw each detail separately and then glue everything together.

    You can decorate these snowflakes with rhinestones or buttons different colors and shades. You can also use small figures by gluing them to the snowflake.

    Do you also like to decorate your home and office with serpentines and snowflakes? Would you like to see these winter messengers three-dimensional? But how to make a three-dimensional snowflake from a flat piece of paper with your own hands? It turns out it's not difficult.

    Huge snowflake on the window

    This unique snowflake star shines beautifully when hung in a window, even without any artificial lighting!

    Due to the different thicknesses, transparent paper creates beautiful drawing, which attracts attention.

    You will need 16 transparent A4 sheets and some glue. Details in the video:

    This beauty looks impressive when assembled from paper of two or three colors.

    In order to make a voluminous snowflake with your own hands, you will need:

    • 6 squares of colored or white paper of the same size;
    • scissors;
    • ruler and pencil;
    • stapler;
    • glue.

    Work order

    • Our volumetric snowflake will consist of 6 identical parts. We will make each of them according to a stencil prepared in advance. Draw 6 straight lines on an equilateral triangle non-overlapping lines at right angles to each other and at equal distances. Leave at least 1 cm between cuts.
    • Take a square piece of colored paper and fold it in half diagonally.

    • Make 3 cuts along the stencil. If you decide to make a large six-pointed star for a Christmas tree according to these instructions from sheets of whatman paper in A11 format, you will have to make more cuts. Accordingly, turn, connect and peck too.

    • Unfold the square and fold the corners of the small inner square together. Fasten with glue or a stapler.

    • Turn the sheet over to the other side. Fold the corners of the next inner square and also fasten them together.

    • Turn our craft over again and repeat the steps. In this case, the first smallest folded square will be inside the third square.

    • Turn the piece over one last time and seal the corners of the largest outer square. The result was a voluminous multilayer icicle. This is one sixth of a snowflake.

    • We make 5 more “icicles”. Secure them with staples, three at a time. Bend the tail on which the fastening bracket is located.

    • Attach the two halves into one whole snowflake. Use a stapler and don't skimp on staples.

    • To prevent the snowflake from falling apart into its components, it must be fastened with a stapler at 6 points.

    • You can tie a thread and hang a voluminous snowflake from the ceiling or attach it to the top of the Christmas tree.

    Craftsmen don’t stop there; they decorate the product to their own taste. Paints, glitter, artificial snow (or just salt) are used:

    Huge snowflake quilling

    Using the quilling technique you can also make a beautiful snowflake of impressive size. Yes, the job is for the patient, not everyone can handle it. But in the end you will get something like this:

    We do this work from one piece of paper.

    Advice: You can quickly make a square out of a rectangle without using a ruler and pencil. Fold the leaf, aligning the top short side with the side long side, starting the fold line from the corner of the leaf. Cut off everything that remains below the two-layer “pie”. Unfold and make sure you get a square.

    Making a simple snowflake

    • Take the square and bend it diagonally again.

    • Fold two more times from one corner and cut into a leaf shape. Make two cuts at the same distance from the edge of the “leaf”.

    • Unfold the workpiece. Bend the inner strips to the center and glue.

    Snowflake accordion or fan

    Prepare two identical strips of paper. Assemble two accordions from them. Fold them in half crosswise and cut out the same contours. This is difficult to do because there are too many layers of paper. Therefore, it is more convenient to use a pre-prepared stencil. By drawing an outline along it on both sides of the accordion at once, you can cut it out without folding it in half. Contour options are shown in the photo.

    Staple the centers of our blanks and glue them together using PVA glue. Unfold the fans and glue two more surfaces. You can hang a snowflake on the Christmas tree.

    Here's how a snowflake can look in a room's decor:

    Openwork snowflake made from strips of paper

    Snowflake from paper strips it looks light and elegant, the shape can be different, it will be great if you come up with your own version.

    We invite you to make with us a light openwork snowflake from stripes with your own hands.

    Cut 15 strips of paper of the same length and width. Fold them first with a cross, and then with a snowflake, 5 pieces in a bunch at the same distance from each other. Coat the middle and let the glue dry so that our structure does not fall apart from the slightest draft.

    Take the diagonal outer strips and fold them as shown in the photo, securing them with glue or metal staples. Moreover, they must be attached to the central horizontal or vertical strip. Do the same with the second outermost diagonal stripes.

    Repeat the operation, connecting the outer horizontal and vertical strips together and securing them to the central diagonal (left in splendid isolation) strip. The result is a wonderful airy openwork snowflake.

    Volumetric composite snowflake

    This simple technique provides enormous scope for creativity.

    Sequential steps:

    1. we prepare paper snowflakes using the usual paper cutting technique, from 4 or more identical pieces,
    2. bend all the snowflakes in half,
    3. Glue the halves of the snowflakes together.

    The principle is well illustrated in the video:

    Soon we will have the most popular and magical holidayNew Year. This is a great time for creativity. Of course, you can buy jewelry and toys in the store, but it’s better to make them yourself.

    Windows are already being decorated in apartments and public institutions. Another common way of decorating is snowflakes - this is the most popular New Year's attribute.

    In the previous article I already told. Today we’ll look at a few step-by-step instructions for making voluminous snowflakes.

    It may seem like a complicated process, but even children can make this decor. So gather your family together free time and start creating.

    Do-it-yourself voluminous paper snowflakes for the New Year

    First, let's look at one of the simple ways to make a New Year's accessory. The material can be used colored paper. If you have a white piece of paper, then, if desired, color the finished snowflake.

    Our result will be like this:

    Fold a sheet of paper in A4 format in half lengthwise. Smooth out the bend with your hand.

    Now we bend the sheet on either side by 1.5-2 cm. Don’t forget to iron the folds. After this, we turn the workpiece over and also bend it a couple of centimeters. That is, we make a kind of accordion.

    We cut the resulting workpiece lengthwise. As a result, we end up with two accordions.

    On each craft we draw a pattern, which is shown in the photo below. Then we cut out the paper along the marked lines.

    If you did everything according to the instructions, then the unfolded blanks should look like this:

    Lubricate the ends of the paper with a pencil and glue. Then we glue both parts of the future snowflake to form a kind of ring.

    Now carefully turn the ring inside out and our craft is ready. When you acquire the skills, you will need a couple of minutes, no more.

    Step-by-step instructions for making a simple three-dimensional snowflake

    There is another easy way to make paper Christmas decorations. We will need regular sheets and glue, as well as a little patience. Involve your children in the creative process.

    Now we will learn how to make a snowflake like this:

    We make a perfect square from a regular sheet of paper. To do this, fold it diagonally, connecting two opposite sides to form a triangle. We cut off the lower part with scissors and set it aside, we will need it later.

    Fold the second sheet in half and cut it into two equal parts.

    We make squares from the two halves by analogy with the first sheet. That is, we bend them diagonally and cut off the lower part.

    From the strip that we have left from the first sheet, we use the same principle to make two more small squares. As a result, we should have five blanks.

    Fold the largest triangle twice, then bend it diagonally to the opposite side. Turn it over and cut off part of the workpiece diagonally along the line opposite the corner.

    Now we make longitudinal lines with scissors, without cutting the workpiece to the end by 1 cm.

    We perform the same actions with the remaining figures. Then we unfold our snowflakes. Apply glue to the center of the largest craft and attach the middle craft, and then the smallest. We turn it over and glue two blanks on the other side.

    New Year's decor element is ready to decorate the room

    How to make beautiful paper snowflakes with your own hands

    Anyone can make an original craft for the winter holiday. This is a fun activity, so you won't even notice how time flies and you will have several accessories to decorate your room.

    We will need five sheets of paper, scissors and a glue stick. The craft will consist of 5 parts, so let's look at how to make one of them, and the rest according to a similar pattern.

    Fold the sheet along the short side. There is no need to smooth out the bend, just make a mark by pinching the paper with your fingers, top and bottom.

    We bend one side of the sheet to the mark with an overlap of 1 cm. We also bend the other side with an overlap.

    Apply a strip of glue to one side with a pencil, and glue the second side of the sheet to it.

    We measure 2 cm from each, and use a ruler to make folds.

    Now the formed folds need to be bent inward to make it look like in the photo below.

    At the next stage, fold the workpiece in half.

    We put a dot in the center of the strip, then mark 9.5 cm on the right side, and 5.5 cm on the left. After that, draw lines along the marks.

    We have a double bag so that the workpiece does not fall apart, we will glue it together.

    After this, we make cuts along the marked lines. Cut off the excess parts of the workpiece.

    If you did everything according to the instructions, then you should end up with this voluminous blank for the future snowflake.

    We perform the same actions in four more parts. The first one can be used as a template to cut off the corners.

    Now we need to glue all the parts. To do this, apply horizontal and vertical stripes of glue. Make sure that all corners match.

    Let's wait a little until the glue sets well. And then all that remains is to unfold the snowflake and glue it together.

    For decoration you can use glitter, colored markers, and beads. In general, use your imagination to create a beautiful craft.

    Templates and diagrams of volumetric snowflakes for cutting out onto windows

    To decorate window openings, you can use not simple stencils, but three-dimensional attributes. Making them is not as difficult as it might seem.

    To make the snowflakes look voluminous, you need to select a stencil, download several copies and secure them in the middle with thread or glue.

    And here are the options for blanks that you can download or print by clicking on the icon at the end of the subtitle.

    Click on the PDF file below and a new window will open where you can click on the download button or the printer icon to print the images.

    If you can draw, then try creating a stencil yourself with beautiful pattern. And if you want to decorate your windows with a symbol of next year, then use.

    Step-by-step production of three-dimensional paper snowflakes

    Let's look at another one interesting option manufacturing New Year's decoration. Like previous technologies, this method is quite simple, so even children can cope with the task.

    In almost all cases, to make a snowflake we need an equilateral square. Therefore, we fold a sheet of paper in A4 format diagonally and cut off the excess strip.

    Fold the resulting triangle in half twice. As a result, we get something like this.

    Now we cut out the workpiece in a circle, starting from the corner on the opening side and ending with the closed side, not reaching 2-3 cm to the opposite corner.

    In the same way we make two more cuts. We make another similar blank.

    Carefully unroll the craft. Glue the ends of the middle strips to the center of the template.

    WITH reverse side glue the second part of the snowflake so that its rays are between the edges of the first part, as shown in the photo, and also glue the middle strip of the lower part to the center of the snowflake.

    The volumetric craft is ready. It can be used as a separate decoration, to create garlands or stick to windows.

    How to easily make a 3D snowflake with your own hands

    Beautiful decor can be made in just a couple of minutes. Several of these volumetric jewelry will help you decorate the interior winter holidays. We will need 2 A4 sheets, glue, scissors and a regular elastic band.

    We make 2.6 cm marks on the two long sides of the paper. Then we fold the sheet like an accordion and cut off the excess part.

    We do the same with the second sheet. After this, mark the middle of the workpiece and draw a template.

    Now cut along the marked lines. Bend the accordion in the middle and use the first half as a template for drawing lines and cutting out. We make the second part of the snowflake in the same way.

    We fasten both blanks with an elastic band and glue them together.

    Now we unfold the snowflake and glue it along the edges to fix it in this state.
