Crocheted strawberry summer hat. Summer panama hats for girls - a lot of MK and patterns

Competition entry No. 2 – Panama hat “Strawberry”

Hello! My name is Nikiforova Alena. I would like to submit my Panama hat with strawberries to the “Knitted Panama Hat” competition. I became interested in crocheting quite recently, after the birth of my daughter, and she is only 1 year and 4 months old. There is little work involved so far, and this is my first summer Panama hat. I try to use my imagination so that my works are original, so I ended up with this designer bucket hat with strawberries.

Panama hat size for OG 46-48 (I knitted tightly), yarn “Pekhorka Openwork”, 280m/50g, 100% cotton (colors white, yellow, green, red) knitted in 2 threads (consumption: a little bit left from each skein, only more than half is green).

Hook No. 2, and No. 1.5 (for tying the berries with white thread), 150 white beads for decorating the berries (25 on each berry, pre-strung on a thread).

1. Panama hat bottom– the central flower was knitted according to scheme No. 1
Ring from VP and 2nd row with yellow thread, 3rd and 4th row with white thread, 5th row and subsequent ones with green thread.

2. Next, a leaf comes off from each flower petal (6 pieces in total), which is knitted according to scheme No. 2 starting from the 6th row. Up to the 18th row, the bottom is knitted with increases. As a result, we get 180 loops - 6 wedges of 30 loops each.

4. Fields. Large Scheme No. 4. Row 38 – with red thread, rows 39, 40 – with yellow thread, rows 41, 42 – with white thread according to the pattern.

5. Tying berries. This is done after the work is completed. I tied the berries along the contour with a white thread (1 thread) with a hook No. 1.5 in arches of 5 air loops hooked onto the edge, the beginning and end of the double crochet.

Can I see on your website how to decipher the abbreviations? And if not, where is such information available???

  • #13

Good afternoon. Panama hats are wonderful! But I can’t get a Panama hat with rounded brims. Even after adding 5 single crochets, the fields turn out to be a wave ((. I knit white with two roses and small round fields.

  • #14

Good evening, Marina! It all depends on the density of the knitting. And it is possible that the finished product will need to be starched a little. Good luck in needlework)

  • #15

Hello, Yulia! Abbreviations can be found in any knitting magazine or book. I will try to post them on our website. Thank you very much everyone for your nice reviews. Pamper your daughters and granddaughters with your handicrafts more often)

In the 3rd Panama hat, in the photo, starting from the 7th row, there are always 4 dc, and one in relief, and according to the description, there are dc in each base. should be 2 dc...
    Believe the photo or description??

  • #17

Please tell me, is it necessary to make increases in the openwork part of the latest model (summer hat)? For some reason it doesn't work out as planned...

  • #18

Hello, Dmitry! The description was compiled by the authors, so it is better to stick to it. And of course, look through your work, if possible, try it on, because all the distortions and shortcomings will be noticeable. Good luck to you)

  • #19

Hello, Elena! In the description of the latest model there are no allowances for the openwork part. If you adhere to the scheme, then you will have it as in the photo - step by step. Maybe you started knitting more tightly, pulling together, than you started?

  • #20

How to knit a relief stitch? Please tell me.

  • #21

Hello, Olga! A lesson on knitting a relief column can be viewed on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc2GQedfeIs

Thank you, Maria! It’s great that our site helped and everything worked out for you. Health to you and your family!

  • The bottom diagram is not complete, there should be another row with an extension, where the extension goes through 3 fans. I’ll try to explain in words, because I’m unlikely to be able to draw better. For the bottom, the repeat of the pattern in height is repeated 4 times, the first time by 6 fans, the second by 12, the third by 18, the fourth by 24, and then it is knitted without increases, i.e. 24 rapports just enough to fit the head circumference. The expansion is due to an arch of 3 ch, which is knitted in a row between fans of 7 dcs. (then in the next row the PRSN is knitted into this arch). First these extras. the arches are knitted between each fan, then after 2, then after 3. In words it seems a lot and complicated, in fact everything is very simple, I didn’t even tie the bottom, the first time and without any pattern, this extension of the pattern worked out well for me
Flowers for decoration are also by eye. 6 v.p. close in a ring.
    2nd row: *2dc, ch 7*, repeat 6 times.
3rd row: each arch of 7 vp. tie *sc, hdc, 10 dc, hdc, sc*, sl st in dc of previous row.
Tie a flower with a contrasting thread *SS, ch*
Panama hat is knitted from chamomile yarn, hook number 2, head circumference approx. 50cm.

After the Panama hat is knitted to the required depth, the row that comes after the fans (3 sc, 5 ch) is tied with sc, then a row of arches is knitted, 5 ch each. (2 pieces per 1 pattern repeat). And then the fields according to the fan pattern. At the base of the fan I knitted 9 DCs, in the last row I replaced 3 DCs tied together with 2 DCs together, and then tied the fans with arches of 3 chain stitches. I also stretched a ribbon along the last row of the pattern.

    Head circumference: for any circumference.
    Yarn: “Ivushka” Semenovskaya yarn (50% cotton, 50% viscose, 430 m/100 g).
    Hook: No. 2

Description: Crochet Panama hat for girls

We start knitting a children's panama hat from the top of the head.
To do this, fold the thread into a ring.
1st row: tie a ring of thread. 3 chain lifting loops, *chain loop, double crochet* - repeat 13 times, chain loop, connecting loop (we close the knitting in a circle). Tighten the ring by pulling the non-working end of the thread.

We knit a circle according to the pattern to the required diameter.

After knitting a circle of the required diameter, we knit without increments: *double crochet, chain stitch* to the required depth. We insert the hook under the arches of air loops.

Then yarn white knit 3 rows with single crochets.
Tie the edge of the Panama hat with openwork scallops.
