  3. Repeat on each side. As a result, there should be one strip on each side, forming a thin cross.
  4. Leave the workpiece to dry completely for about half an hour. Then we remove the clothespins and move on to the second identical part of the craft.
  5. We connect both parts together by rotating the bottom part of the snowflake 45 degrees. Now the free strips can be secured with the ready-made beams.
  6. We glue them with glue and secure them with clothespins, leaving them to dry completely.
  7. All that remains is to decorate the finished snowflake. This can be done using pieces New Year's garland and glitter.

    DIY paper snowflake for children using origami technique, master class

    The art of origami is multifaceted and complex, but with the right instructions in this technique you can do it yourself and quite simple craft, for example, a children's snowflake. True, to be completely frank, the following master class with photos cannot be called made exclusively using the origami technique. In it, for a children's DIY paper snowflake, in addition to the origami technique, you will also use threads and scissors.

    Necessary materials for origami children's snowflakes for the New Year

    • thick colored sheet
    • pencil and ruler
    • needle and thread
    • scissors

    Instructions for a master class on children's snowflakes using the origami technique

    1. To begin, we cut out a strip 5-7 cm wide and about 20 cm long. Using a pencil and ruler, we make notes on every centimeter along the length. On top we cut out an imitation of a “fence”, as shown in the photo. In the middle of the resulting columns we draw small diamonds. Then we mark the middle of each centimeter with dots and pierce them with a thin needle.
    2. Now we take a ruler and place it on top of the first line dividing our “fence” section in half. Carefully bend the workpiece inward, and then remove the ruler and bend it in the opposite direction. We repeat the same with each section. The result should be an accordion, as in the photo below.
    3. We hold the accordion tightly with the fingers of one hand and use scissors to cut out the previously marked diamond shapes in the middle of each section.
    4. We take a needle and thread and carefully thread it through the small holes that we have already pierced with a needle two steps ago.

      Note! The thread needs to be thick so that it holds the finished structure tightly!

    5. When the thread has already passed through all the points, we reinsert it into the first hole to close the structure.
    6. We remove the needle and begin to gradually tighten the thread until a tight ring is formed. We tie the thread into a knot, and place a spool on top of the snowflake to straighten it.
    7. We form a loop from the remaining thread and our children's snowflake is ready! And for those who want to master the pure origami technique for creating snowflakes, we have selected a video tutorial with step by step diagram below.

    Do-it-yourself openwork snowflake using the quilling technique, master class with photos

    Quilling is the real art of weaving amazingly beautiful crafts and cards from simple strips of paper. Using the quilling technique, you can create truly unique openwork snowflakes with your own hands, a direct confirmation of which is our next master class with step-by-step photos. But the most amazing thing is that by swapping individual parts and adding new elements, you can create several different openwork snowflakes with your own hands using the quilling technique according to one general pattern.

    Necessary materials for an openwork snowflake using the quilling technique

    • pencil and ruler
    • scissors
    • glue and brush

    Instructions for a master class on openwork snowflakes using quilling techniques

    1. Using a ruler and a simple pencil you need to draw a sheet. To do this, make 0.5 cm marks along the width of the sheet and draw lines along the entire length. Then we cut out the strips with scissors.
    2. To form the rolls you will need an awl. We wind the strip onto it quite tightly, and then let the roll unravel a little and glue the edge to its base.
    3. The snowflake will be based on one round element and six drop-shaped rolls. To get an element in the form of a drop, you need to lightly squeeze one edge of the round roll with your fingers. We connect the structure with glue.
    4. Now add six eye-shaped rolls to the base. We will also make them from round rolls, but by flattening both edges with our fingers. Glue the “eyes” between the drops according to the template below.
    5. Now we need small rolls, so we fold the standard strip in half and cut it into two parts. From each small strip we twist a small round roll. To begin with, you will need six of these elements.
    6. We glue small rolls along the edges of the elements in the form of a cat's eye.
    7. We roll six standard large rolls.
    8. We glue them to the drop-shaped elements, as shown in the diagram below.
    9. Now we need six square rolls. We will form them from standard round ones, slightly flattening the sides into a square shape.
    10. We glue the squares to the large round elements, having first turned them into the shape of rhombuses.
    11. All that remains is to twist a large round roll according to the standard pattern and glue it to the top of our craft. Let the snowflake dry completely and thread the thread through the large roll. Ready!

    The easiest way to do New Year's snowflake with your own hands is to cut it out of paper according to a ready-made template or diagram. Such simple, but at the same time very beautiful DIY snowflakes are available primarily for children's creativity. However, there are quite complex patterns with which you can make even large and voluminous decorative snowflakes, which in their originality will not be inferior to crafts using the origami or quilling technique. Do you want to know how to cut a beautiful New Year's snowflake out of paper with your own hands? Then you will find a selection of photo templates and patterns for adults and children, as well as video tutorials below.

Greetings everyone! Today is November 12th, and there is still no snow in our city. What's your weather like? We're all already looking forward to it winter fun and the snow-white outfit of nature. I really want to go outside and feel how snowflakes slowly and gracefully fall on you.

As a matter of fact, we will talk about them, about these white cut-out beauties! Probably, these fluffies are an indispensable attribute for decorating houses, streets, school and kindergarten premises in winter period time. There are different methods for making this craft. The main difference is the material from which it is made and the cutting methods. We will talk about how to make paper snowflakes using different schemes and templates for cutting.

Don't forget that such blanks can be used as crafts for the upcoming New Year. You can get ideas for interesting and beautiful things that you can do with your own hands, getting ready for the holidays in advance.

You know, I would like to advise you to introduce such a tradition in your family: get together on cold evenings and create with your children, making and cutting out these simple designs, and then sticking them on the windows. And let passers-by envy your beauty!!

The easiest way to make a snowflake is to fold the sheet 5 times. The first four times we fold it in half, and the fifth time - diagonally. We cut out any patterns from the resulting blank and unfold it. Our New Year's beauty is ready!!

But this is a very simple and not very interesting way. To make it more complicated, you can make a tetrahedral version:

Or pentagonal:

Here is another simple and easy way to cut out our product:

And to make it even clearer to you, let’s now look at the manufacturing process step by step:

  • We will make snowflakes from square paper. If you have a standard A4 sheet, then adjust it to the desired shape. Now fold it to form a triangle. We cut off the excess part and get a perfect square.
  • We fold the square diagonally to form a triangle.

  • Fold the triangle towards the far corners, creating another smaller triangle.
  • We have a blank. Apply any pattern to it and carefully cut it out.
  • All you have to do is straighten the finished product so as not to catch it and tear it.

Note!! This is the easiest way to make a snowflake. Here the result depends on the selected pattern. The more complex the pattern, the more unusual and interesting the result will be.

Beautiful snowflakes with your own hands (made from paper)

I would also like to note that the more complex the decoration pattern, the more difficult it will be for you to cut it, so count on your strength.

For you, one more photo instruction for making a New Year's craft:

  • Make a diagonal bend. If you do not have a square sheet, then do not forget to cut off the excess part. Next, roll the workpiece diagonally again.
  • We divide the widest part of the triangle, that is, its base into 3 equal segments. We bend one corner so that the edge ends at the level of the mark. It will be below the base, but strictly under the mark. Now fold the second part and trim off the uneven ends.
  • Draw or immediately cut out a snowflake.

I think, in general, you already have an idea of how to carry out these simple designs and there should no longer be any difficulties in their manufacture. Here's another video for you on our topic, and let's move on to more complex options.

Volumetric snowflake. Cutting templates

To make a three-dimensional structure, you need to master the techniques of kirigami and quilling. Let's take a closer look at these two methods.

  • Paper snowflake using kirigami technique

We will need: bright colored paper ( reverse side must be white or colored); scissors; pencil with ruler.

Manufacturing process:

1. Cut out a square of colored paper of any size.

2. Fold it in quarters to reduce the size of the piece by four.

3. Make a diagonal fold.

4. Cut off the beveled corner at the top.

5. Cut out symmetrical triangles on the outside of the figure.

6. Using scissors from bottom to top, make two cuts on both sides of the sharp corner, as well as another cut on the right or left.

7. Unfold the paper and smooth it out carefully.

8. Now bend the resulting corners up or down at random.

9. Having folded all the corners, iron the craft.

10. When you place the product, turn it as desired with the front or back side facing you.

When you have become familiar with this technique, I offer you templates of more original types:

  • like this one for example

  • or like this

  • maybe you will like this option

  • Snowflake using quilling technique

This is very painstaking work, but the result is the envy of everyone. Although, if you look at it, everything is done extremely simply.

  • We take a regular sheet of paper and, using a ruler and pencil, draw identical lines. Cut the sheet into strips.
  • Take an awl and attach the edge of a paper strip to its end. Now we wind the strip onto the tool.
  • Glue the end of the strip to the resulting coil and remove the roll from the awl. Make another such coil, but lightly squeeze it with your fingers on one side. Make five more of these teardrop coils.

  • Take the first blank and glue six “droplets” to it.
  • Roll six coils again and squeeze with your fingers on both sides. Glue new parts between the petals of the snowflake.
  • Take three strips and fold them in half, then cut them. You should have six short strips. Twist six coils from them. Glue a new coil onto each tip of the piece.
  • From long strips we make six more coils, only slightly larger in size than the first. To do this, do not tighten the paper too much. Glue them on top between small rolls.
  • You need to make six more large coils and bend their sides with your fingers to make a square. We glue them at the top to the large coils.
  • Take a pencil and wrap a paper strip around it, glue the end of the strip and remove the spool. We glue this part to one of the tops of the snowflake and thread a ribbon or string into the ring.

Here is a diagram of how you can still glue the parts:

  • You can also make such a three-dimensional 3D figure.

We will need: paper, scissors and a stationery knife; scotch; glue; stapler

Cooking process:

1. Make six identical squares out of paper.

2. Bend each square diagonally and make 3 cuts towards the middle on both sides. The cuts should not touch, leave 0.5-1 cm between them.

3. Lay out the sheet and place it so that the uncut edges are vertical. From the inside you need to twist the two closest edges into a tube. Glue with glue or tape.

4. Unfold the workpiece and connect the next two strips. We turn the part over again and connect the 3rd row of strips. Glue the last strips too, turning the workpiece over to the other side.

5. We do the same with six squares. Then fasten them in three elements, turned in one direction. Then we fix both parts into a three-dimensional figure.

6. If necessary, secure the sides of the product with a stapler or glue.

And another master class on making winter beauties:

How to make a snowflake from a roll of toilet paper?

It turns out that to make such crafts, you don’t have to use regular paper; you can also take rolls from toilet paper. And the work process is very simple, you only need to take one roll, PVA glue and paints, you can use acrylic, or you can use gouache. For decoration, use glitter, sequins or confetti.

Now just cut the toilet paper roll into equal parts, shape it into a flattened shape and glue it together. Top with material of your choice.

Here are a couple more ideas for designing structures made from rolls:

  • use small and large pieces

  • You can take different decoration elements from above

  • Or you can just cover it with gold paint

At the end of today's topic, I want to say that the main thing in this matter is to try, fantasize and have good mood. And if you get bored, make snowflakes from beads or just knit them, or maybe you can make them from pasta?!

Hello, dear blog readers. Are you upset that winter is in no hurry to arrive in your area? You can create it with my own hands. If you know how to make regular and voluminous snowflakes from paper, then you will cope with the task. Feel like a weather smith!

The simplest way to create paper snowflakes with your own hands is 3D decoration. Children can handle this too, don’t be afraid to entrust this task to them.

What we will need:

  • White paper (other colors are fine);
  • Stationery stapler;
  • Scissors;
  • The pencil is simple;
  • Ruler;
  • Glue (any).

Step by step instructions:

If you make crafts of different sizes, attaching them to threads, you will get beautiful garlands. A few decorations can help simulate snowfall during your New Year's party.

Simpler option

If fine motor skills If your fingers and artistic abilities do not allow you to create masterpieces, you can create simple snowflakes from paper with your own hands in the shape of an accordion.

  1. Take a leaf and cut it into strips. The width is the same, should be 7-15 cm;
  2. Fold the strips in half and draw the outline of the pattern. Using manicure scissors (others will work too) we cut through the ornament;
  3. If the material is not dense, fold in two parts and cut together;
  4. We fold each part like an accordion. The dimensions of all workpiece segments must be equal. If there are differences, it will not be possible to glue both parts;
  5. Lubricate the edges of the accordions with glue, fasten them, and dry them. We take the craft and carefully straighten it.

Christmas trees-needles

Is the prickly frost knocking on all the windows? Take some of his spirit! Before you make a paper snowflake with real spines, stock up on:

  • Needle;
  • Sheets of paper;
  • Threads;
  • Compass;
  • Pencil;
  • Red (yellow) cloth;
  • With a ruler.

The creation principle is as follows:

  1. Draw 4 circles. The diameter is the same - 5 cm. For large crafts, increase to 10 cm;
  2. Let's cut them out. Using a pencil and ruler, divide everything into eight segments. We cut along the formed lines and cut circles from the edges to the middle;
  3. The result is petals, the ends of which are carefully bent towards the center, then glued together. To get the perfect shape for the petals, help yourself with a pencil;
  4. Create three identical flowers. It's time to fix the pieces together. Glue or thread with a needle will help (try sewing the parts together);
  5. We cut out a circle from the fabric and fasten it in the center of the craft. Decorate with sequins, rhinestones, sparkles... Twist, twist

Quilling

Is the blizzard spinning in circles, drawing smooth patterns on the ground and in the air? We master artistic twisting - quilling.

We need:

  • Paper strips (3 mm);
  • Toothpick (awl);
  • Glue;
  • Tweezers;
  • Scissors.

Making a snowflake from a photo

  1. Attach the end of the awl to the edge of the strip;
  2. We wind a strip on it;
  3. Glue the end of the tape to the resulting coil. Carefully remove the roll from the awl;
  4. We make a second coil, but on one side we squeeze it with two fingers. We make 6 pieces;
  5. We glue the resulting 6 rolls to the first one;
  6. We wind up 6 rolls, squeezing them on both sides with our fingers. The rolls should look like eyes;
  7. Glue them between the petals of the craft;
  8. Bend and cut the following ribbons (3 pieces). You now have 6 stripes;
  9. We roll 6 new rolls;
  10. At each of their tips we add a detail similar to an eye;
  11. We roll up six more rolls from long strips, now larger in size than all the previous ones. Do not tighten the paper, these should be looser;
  12. We glue them between small coils, onto the parts of the resulting “drop”;
  13. We roll up two triples of new “coils”. The size should be large, we bend them so that the shape is square;
  14. We glue them to large rolls at the top;
  15. We wrap a long ribbon around a pencil, glue its end and remove it from the pencil;
  16. We attach it to one of the tops of the craft. We thread a fabric ribbon or thread into this ring.

From tapes

This option is less labor-intensive than quilling, but you will need paper strips, as well as glue and scissors. To create a fragile paper snowflake with your own hands, the width of the strip should be 4-5 mm.

  1. We cut the sheet so that the lengths of the ribbons are different: for half a snowflake, one strip should be ¼ meter long, two 21 cm long and the same 19 cm long;
  2. Lubricate all ends of the blanks with glue and fasten them together. Dry them and create a leaf from them. Check that everything sticks together. If the connection is not strong, add thread;
  3. We repeat the manipulation, creating 8 more leaves. To obtain volume, it is better to glue a dozen of these leaves together. Allow all parts to dry;
  4. Cut out a centimeter strip from cardboard. We glue it into a ring. We glue all the blanks obtained earlier to this ring. If it is not too strong, you can first glue the leaves together. All that remains is to fix them on a round ring.

There is a more complicated option. For this craft you will need paper clips, 6 quarter meter long ribbons and glue. We proceed like this:

  • We intertwine the ribbons together so that we get a square in the middle. We will fix all these strips with paper clips or glue;
  • We now connect the closely spaced stripes. First, their tips need to be greased with glue, then carefully fastened together. You should now have a leaf;
  • We carry out the same manipulations with three parts of the workpiece. Do the second half in the same way. All that remains is to fold both parts so that the craft looks like a flower. You can wait for the glue to dry, remove the paper clips and hang it on the Christmas tree.

Snowflake in the shape of a ball

We proceed like this:

  1. Cut out 12 circles from colored paper using a compass. They must have the same diameter;
  2. We bend all the circles in half. A stack should form. Alternate colors if the material is of different colors;
  3. Keep the resulting stack under pressure for a quarter of an hour. This will make their fold line more expressive and allow them to be fixed correctly;
  4. We straighten the workpiece very carefully and connect the 12 parts together with a stapler. All staples must be on the fold line;
  5. All that remains is to create the form. We straighten the circles and glue them together. We connect so that all the halves of the circle are joined to the adjacent part of the craft on one side with the top, and on the opposite side with the bottom.

Origami

The most difficult option, but if you master it, you can delight people with masterpieces. This requires good coordination without unnecessary details. All you need is paper and finger dexterity plus concentration.

Take a sheet (square). Fold diagonally. Now in half and in half again. We have a triangle. We draw a line on it and make a cut. We unfold the sheet so that a square is formed again. We bend its corners, resulting in the center, inward. We connect the corner with glue to the corner. They shouldn't turn around. We turn the craft over, bend the large corners towards the center and glue them together for strength. We fold what we have in half. We repeat the operation five times in a row. We glue all the parts with the corners facing each other. All parts must be located in the same direction.

To master origami, start with more simple options: animals, flowers, buildings, simple sculptures.

Karigami

The option is a little more complicated and requires serious skills. Needs long training. Here you need to fold the sheet and cut out the pattern very precisely. Before creating this masterpiece, you first need to draw a pattern and then start cutting it out with nail scissors. This is an option for beginners, because it allows you to cut out even the most complex pattern correctly. Once you have everything cut out, all that remains is to bend some of the pieces and the karigami is ready.

There is another one, much more difficult option origami. It's called modular origami, but the sculptures turn out simply unreal. To create such a masterpiece, you need to make a large number of small paper parts. The hardest part is connecting them in the right order. Modular origami is most similar to a construction set, but it is created with one’s own hands and not from plastic. The disadvantage of this method is that any (imperceptible to the eye) mistake when folding or gluing will spoil the impression and perception of your snowflake. The work is jewelry, but the Japanese don’t recognize anything else. Proceed with karigami or modular origami It’s better after you master the tape technique, quilling and 3D snowflakes. Additionally, it is useful to practice crocheting and modeling.

Creating three-dimensional snowflakes is not that difficult. There are options available even to children. You will make the remaining versions without the help of children. It takes perseverance, patience and time. If you allow such luxury, you can decorate your home or office with luxurious garlands and fragile crafts. Go ahead, experiment and visit our blog often for new ideas!

New video on how to make beautiful voluminous openwork snowflakes:

Snowflakes from openwork napkins

Openwork paper napkins can be an excellent material for creating New Year's crafts. After all, you can make a variety of snowflakes from them. 2 MKs on openwork snowflakes from Marina.

One of the options for creating such New Year's decor we show in this new 2019 masterclass.

First, fold the white openwork napkin in half. Then cut along the marked fold line with scissors. Next, each half needs to be cut in half. As a result, we got an openwork napkin, cut into 4 equal parts.

Now from these quarters we will make rays for the future snowflake. To do this, first fold the workpiece in half, marking the fold line.

Focusing on this line, we bend half of the openwork part.

Then we bend the second openwork half symmetrically.

By bending both sides, we get a blank for the first ray of a snowflake.

This is what it looks like from the front.

We continue to make other rays using the same principle.

And so we continue to work.

In order to make a snowflake, we needed 10 rays. If desired, the center can be decorated with a shiny rhinestone. Such a New Year's snowflake from openwork napkins we succeeded.

Now we propose to make a convex round snowflake from openwork napkins according to the 2018 master class. Very light and beautiful, suitable for children, see detailed instructions.

To create such a snowflake we prepared:

    • openwork napkins (6 pieces are enough);
    • scissors;
    • glue;
    • decorative rhinestone for the middle.

We will make the snowflake itself from peculiar little bags. To create them, we first need to bend the openwork napkin in half. After that, cut it with scissors along the fold line.

Then fold each half in half again and cut. As a result, we get 4 blanks from one napkin.

Now let's use glue and connect the edges of this workpiece so that we get a little bag.

In total, our snowflake will require 12 of these bags.

We take another napkin, it will serve as the basis for our snowflake. First glue 2 bags on it opposite each other.

Then we fix 2 more blanks in the other direction.

After this, distribute the remaining bags evenly and glue them onto an openwork napkin.

For the middle of the snowflake we will use other blanks. To create them, just cut a napkin in half.

After this, we immediately make small bags from the halves of openwork napkins.

In total we produce 4 such blanks.

We begin to glue them into the middle of the snowflake.

Fix all 4 bags evenly.

And we decorate the middle with decorative rhinestones. Our snowflake made from openwork napkins is ready.

Lush volumetric snowflake

Having 3 squares of paper, we can make the New Year's snowflake shown in this master class by Marina.

To create it, let's take:

  • 3 squares of blue paper;
  • PVA glue;
  • decorative rhinestone.

Our craft consists of three elements, each of which will require one square blank. Let's start working on creating the first element. To do this, mark transverse folds on the first blue square.

After this, fold the side edges of the square to the middle line.

Now let's fold the other sides.

We unfold one side as follows, giving it the appearance of a trapezoid.

We do the same on the other side.

Now the corners of the resulting workpiece need to be carefully straightened so that they acquire a square shape.

We do this with all four corners.

In place of these squares we make folds on both sides.

Next, we will straighten these folds and give the workpiece itself the appearance of an elongated rhombus.

We must make such diamonds from all four corners.

The resulting diamonds need to be narrowed a little more; to do this, we make folds on the sides.

The workpiece acquired this appearance after the folds were made.

It remains to fold it as follows. To do this, you need to turn the workpiece over to the other side and make folds along the transverse folds.

This is what this blank looks like from the other side.

From the remaining two squares we make similar blanks, and then glue them together.

And in the center of the craft we place a decorative rhinestone. It turned out to be such a voluminous snowflake.

Snowflakes curls

Simple strips of paper are used to create basic elements that can be glued together in any order. The number of options for such snowflakes tends to infinity, as in nature :)

A simple snowflake using the false quilling technique

Our master class on creating an openwork snowflake using the false quilling technique will help you make a decoration from strips of paper with minimal time and materials.

For the creative process you need to prepare the following materials:

  • a sheet of white (or double-sided blue, silver) A4 paper;
  • simple pencil;
  • ruler;
  • eraser;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

How to make an openwork snowflake using the unusual “false quilling” technique

The snowflake will consist of three types of elements, to create which you will need strips 1 cm wide. Each type of element must consist of six parts, so we need to draw a sheet of 18 stripes. The first 6 stripes should take up the length of the entire sheet. Draw the next 6 stripes perpendicular to the first. Draw the third type of stripes under the long ones, starting from the perpendicular stripes.

Cut strips of paper and fold them into three rows, depending on their length. In places where pencil lines are very visible, use an eraser.

To make it more convenient to work with strips, wrap them around a pencil and remove. Unlike the “” technique, our task is somewhat simplified, since we will not be working with dense curls, but with their similarity.

Take a strip from the “short” row. To wrap the strip into a ring, twist it around your finger, close the edges and glue it. Make the next turn a little weaker and glue it again at the base. Make a third turn in this manner. Cut off excess paper with scissors.

Do this with the remaining five short strips, making sure they are the same size.

Make exactly the same ring curls with stripes from the middle row.

Bend the longest strips in half.

Wind each end tightly onto a pencil and carefully remove the ring - you will get these double curls.

Press the smallest curl rings on both sides with your fingers, giving them an almond shape.

Press the middle curl rings from the ends to the center to form a figure of a four-pointed star (diamond).

Let's start collecting snowflakes. Connect the six almond-shaped parts together with glue. You will get something like a flower.

Glue double curls between the “petals”.

For convenience, glue double curls across one petal.

Then glue on the remaining double curls.

Glue the “stars” where the double curls meet.

That's all, the voluminous openwork snowflake is ready!

Look how twisted it is, like lace!
Thanks to the three-dimensional elements, folding such a snowflake is easier than when creating a quilling figure. With such creative work Small children can also cope if they are shown everything and helped, if necessary. Older children will figure out the intricacies of the work on their own. You can also come up with other elements and make several snowflakes to decorate a festive tree or interior. The main thing is desire, and everything will work out for you!

Snowflake made of paper squares

What to prepare to create snowflakes from paper squares:

  • squares 8*8 cm, cut from decorative double-sided colored paper (scrap paper);
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • glue;
  • rhinestones, sparkles, sequins.

How to fold unusual snowflakes from ordinary paper squares

To work, you need two squares of the same size. If you want to make small snowflakes, use small squares and vice versa.

Cut out the squares required size from decorative paper. It is best to use paper that has a pattern on one side and a base color on the other, then the snowflake will look original.

Fold the squares in half twice.

Straighten the squares, the main lines will appear on them.

Fold the edges to the center line, pressing the folds with your finger.

Do exactly the same on the other side. When you straighten the squares, you will see that markings of small squares have appeared on them.

Using scissors, cut along the center folds to the length of one square.

Fold the corners at each edge as shown in the picture.

Seal the corners so that the patterned side is on top.

Glue one part of the snowflake onto the other so that the rays do not overlap each other.

Decorate the resulting snowflake with self-adhesive rhinestones, or stick on glitter with glue.

A beautiful figured snowflake made of squares is ready!

So, with very little effort, we got unusual snowflake. Such beauty was created from two squares, it’s hard to believe! You are convinced that children can handle this kind of work, which means you can make a lot of wonderful snowflakes and use them to decorate rooms, gifts for loved ones and relatives, a festive tree or a Christmas wreath. And if you connect several snowflakes, you can make a garland, pendants or a crown decoration for the holiday.

Volumetric snowflake made of foamiran

Our regular author Marina will show you how to make a shiny three-dimensional snowflake in her new master class.

Snowflakes can be made from various materials. In this master class we propose to make such a craft for the New Year 2019 from shiny foamiran. But you can also choose colored paper, folding technology is one.

To make such a snowflake we prepared:

  • shiny (glitter) foamiran of blue and silver color;
  • scissors;
  • toothpick;
  • sharp knife;
  • ruler;
  • glue gun

Step by step instructions

We decided that our snowflake would be two-color, so we use foamiran in two colors - blue and silver. If desired, such a craft can be made in one color. The snowflake will consist of individual elements– rectangles. First, we cut out 3 rectangles measuring 2.5x14 cm from blue foamiran.

Now you need to make certain cuts on each rectangle. But first, let's use a ruler and a toothpick. On the wrong side, set aside 1 cm along the edges and draw small vertical lines with a toothpick. After this, the central part needs to be divided into 5 equal strips, the width of each of them will be 5 mm.

Next you will need a sharp utility knife. With its help, using a ruler, we carefully make cuts along the intended lines, not reaching 1 cm from each edge. This is best done under something hard (for example, a cutting board).

This is what our blue rectangle with cuts looks like, see photo:

We prepare other preparations in the same way. In total, 3 blue and 3 silver blanks will be used for our snowflake.

Now we can start creating the openwork rays of our snowflake. To do this, take one rectangle and carefully fold it in half, aligning the edges.

Using the same principle, using a glue gun we create the remaining shiny rays. There will be 6 of them in total.

For the base of the snowflake, cut out a small circle from silver foamiran. Glue the first blue ray to its wrong side.

We place the second (silver) ray opposite the first.

Now we fix the blue and silver rays between them using hot glue.

On the other side we also glue a couple of rays.

All that remains is to design the middle of our snowflake. To do this, cut out a small circle from silver foamiran and glue it.

Our voluminous snowflake made of shiny foamiran is ready.

Snowflake made from cardboard tubes

New Year's decor can be created even from scrap materials. An example would be a simple and interesting snowflake made from cardboard tubes, and the detailed process of its creation is shown in Marina’s master class. Such crafts can be done with children at home or in middle and senior groups of kindergarten.

To make such a snowflake we prepared:

  • cardboard rolls from toilet paper or paper towels;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • brush;
  • PVA glue;
  • glitter;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors.

The first step is to make preparations for the future snowflake. We flatten the cardboard blank, and then make markings at a distance of 1 cm.

Then we need a glue gun, warm it up. He will help us connect 6 cardboard elements in a circle. This will be the base of our snowflake.

To create other elements of the snowflake, we must fold the cardboard strip in half.

In this way we add up the 12 remaining elements.

You should get 6 such blanks for a snowflake.

We begin to glue these blanks inside. We do this using a glue gun.

This is what our snowflake looks like at this stage.

All that remains is to decorate it and apply glitter. To do this, you first need to coat the top part of the craft with PVA glue; it is more convenient to do this with a brush.

Then pour glitter onto a sheet of paper.

Place the snowflake on this sheet with the coated side down. If necessary, glitter can be sprinkled on individual places. Such a snowflake from cardboard sleeve we succeeded.

One of our most common New Year's memories “from childhood” are the numerous paper snowflakes on glass that decorated the windows of houses, kindergartens and schools. Their carved rays, even in the complete absence of real snow on the street, gave everyone a feeling of an approaching holiday, making them believe in future miracles. But the years go by, and now it’s not us, but our children who cut out snowflakes, decorating their school classrooms and their rooms with them. In recent years, so-called voluminous paper snowflakes have come into fashion. Creating them certainly takes a little more time than simply cutting them out. But such paper creations look much more impressive than their flat counterparts. And they can be attached not only to glass. Volumetric snowflakes can become Christmas tree toys, and pendants that complement the festive tinsel, and decorations for lamps in spacious offices for the New Year.

In order to make any of these snowflakes, you won’t need much:

  • paper (office white, colored or wrapping paper);
  • scissors;
  • glue and (or) stapler.
  1. In order to make such a voluminous snowflake with your own hands, you will need six paper squares of any size and color. It is better to collect a medium-sized snowflake from ordinary office paper - 2 squares per sheet A 4. If you still want to decorate your house with a large voluminous beauty (1 square is cut from sheet A 4), then it is better to take paper of greater density, since the weight of 6 sheets of snowflake will sag and lose its effectiveness.
  2. Each square should first be folded diagonally, and then again to form a triangle.
  3. Now, using a pencil from the fold, draw lines parallel to the base of the triangle, approximately 1 cm short of the edge. The distance between the lines is 1.5–2 centimeters (depending on the size of the future snowflake).
  4. Cut through. By and large, you don’t have to draw lines, but immediately cut the workpiece into strips of equal width.
  5. Roll into a tube and staple the first strips. Of course, the staples of the stapler do not look very elegant, but they significantly save the time of the one who makes a voluminous snowflake, because he does not have to wait for the glue to “grab.”
  6. Turn the part over and fasten the next two (closest to the center) strips together.
  7. Continue turning the workpiece until all the workpiece strips are secured. You should get a ray like this.
  8. Now you should do the same thing 5 more times. It turned out 6 rays.
  9. Using the same stapler, you should connect the rays with each other at the bottom. First, three pieces at a time, and then combine two large pieces.
  10. And finally, it is necessary to connect the rays at the points of contact with each other.

Your DIY voluminous snowflake is ready! Of course, such decoration can be made not only from white, but also from colored paper. If you make cuts not with ordinary ones, but with curly scissors, the voluminous snowflake will look even more elegant.

Volumetric snowflake cut out with curly scissors (close up)

Volumetric snowflake. Option 2

This voluminous snowflake is made from thin strips of paper. An A4 sheet should be cut into strips 0.6–0.8 cm thick. For a smaller snowflake you will need 12 paper strips, and for larger ones – 20.

Work plan:

  • Weave the strips together with a lattice, securing the places of weaving with glue. This is a blank. Each snowflake will consist of two cross-shaped parts. For a small snowflake, the lattice is woven with 3 X 3 stripes, and for a large one, 5 X 5 stripes.
  • One grate needs to be placed on top of the other, offset as in the photo. Glue the joints of the parts again.
  • Now the rays. The two outer strips of the lower part should be folded up and attached to the central strip of the upper part with a stapler. If the gratings were woven from five strips, then you need to do the same with the next outer strips. If the grids were woven 3 X 3, then you can begin to create the next ray.
  • After the 3 rays are ready, you need to turn the snowflake over and do the same with the free stripes.

Volumetric snowflake made of paper strips

This is what the finished small and large snowflakes look like.

Volumetric snowflake “quickly”

Perhaps this is the simplest and quick way creating three-dimensional snowflakes from paper.

For a small snowflake, you need to cut a sheet of A4 format in half and make a square out of each half. It should be folded in half, and then again to form a rectangle.

Now you need to cut out the “ears”. It is better to first draw them with a pencil so that the part is symmetrical. Each “ear” must be cut twice, slightly short of the center, and the parts unfolded.

The tip of the resulting central strip of each ray should be glued in the center. The same must be done with all rays.

Each snowflake consists of two parts glued together crosswise with the voluminous side facing out. In principle, you can glue the parts on top of each other, but that’s up to you.

The volumetric snowflake is ready, and its creation took no more than 10 minutes.

Update from November 27, 2015

An extremely simple and at the same time very nice three-dimensional snowflake is made from two “accordions”.

Required materials: two sheets of paper, a simple pencil, scissors, an eraser and a stapler.

  • Fold two sheets of A4 paper into an accordion shape 2.8 cm wide. With this spacing, the accordion will consist of 10 stripes. By and large, the paper format and the thickness of the strips do not matter. The main thing is that there is an even number of stripes (8, 10, 12, 14, etc.)
  • On one half, draw a pattern with a pencil and cut it out (you can also do this with curly scissors).
  • We bend the accordion in half so that the edges match, and draw a pattern on the second half with a pencil. This way the drawing will be symmetrical. Cut it out.
  • Since this voluminous snowflake requires two accordions, we place the cut out and uncut accordions on top of each other. We duplicate the drawing with a pencil and cut it out.
  • We put the accordions together one after another and tighten them in the middle with an elastic band.
  • Using a stapler, we fasten the accordions to each other to form a circle.

1. Fold with an accordion width of 2.8 cm
2. You need to make 2 identical accordions
3. Assembling the accordion
4. Draw the pattern of the future snowflake

5. Fold in half and draw the same pattern
6. Cut out the pattern on the second side of the accordion
7. It should look like this
8. Transfer the pattern to the second folded accordion

9. Draw symmetrically on both sides
10. Cut out the pattern on the second accordion
11. Make sure both accordions are the same
12. Place both accordions together and secure with an elastic band

13. Both accordions after the screed
14. We connect the edges of the sheets with a stapler
15. This is what the connection should look like
16. Connect the remaining edges of the sheets

17. Carefully fasten all the edges of the sheets
18. Straighten all folds evenly
19. Turn the resulting snowflake over
20. Volume snowflake “pea” is ready
