How to knit clothes for a cat with knitting needles. DIY clothes for the sphinx - we knit and sew using a universal pattern, photos and videos

Autumn has arrived with its cool winds, frosty mornings and rainy afternoons. The cat, who had been walking in the garden all summer, began to run into the house more and more often to warm up. He sits, gets bored and asks to go outside, and an hour later - back into the house.

And winter is ahead, which means it’s time to knit something warm for the cat. I immediately rejected the sweater option. I can’t even imagine how I’m going to stuff my Clonish into it. That's why I settled on a blouse - it's comfortable to put on and easy to take off.

So, we need a pattern for a blouse for a cat, and we take measurements:

Distance from the ponytail to the base of the neck - product length 29 cm;
- from neck to forearm - armhole line 10 cm;
- chest volume behind the front legs and tummy volume - blouse width 32 cm;
- girth of the front leg at the base - armhole 14 cm;
- neck girth - neckline 22 cm.

If you knit and have a lot of leftovers, then you don’t have to buy special yarn, but use what you have. Since my favorite is black and bright colors don’t suit her, I chose dark green yarn - 60 g, 20 g dark blue, 10 g light green and 10 g beige.

Yarn for jacket 100 g wool Alize Kashmir;
- knitting needles on fishing line No. 4;
- knitting needles for socks 4 pcs.

To beautifully combine several colors of yarn, it is better to choose a simple pattern. I chose fairly simple patterns: the main pattern is faces. satin stitch (the front side is knitted with knit stitches, the back side is knitted with purl stitches), and two ornaments.

We cast on 75 stitches with dark green yarn and knit 3.5 cm with a 1x1 elastic band.

It is necessary to leave the cat's tummy open, so we continue to knit using the shortened row method. In this way, the back of the blouse will be slightly longer, and the product will lie evenly on the animal’s figure.

In order to get a rounded fabric, we knit the average 35 loops, putting 20 loops on both sides, and at the end of each knitted row we pick up 1 loop.

In this way we knit 40 rows until all the loops of the product are in use.

We introduce a light green thread for the pattern according to scheme 1. We divide it into several parts for ease of working with the ornament.

We continue to knit 12 rows with dark green yarn, then we introduce a beige thread for the second ornament. We knit according to the pattern 15 rows - 6 cm.

Another 2 rubles. the main thread, and we came to the line under the cat's front paws. We need to make a hole for the armhole.

By the standards of the animal, the back of the blouse is slightly wider than inner part. Therefore, the middle 31 stitches are set aside for the back, 12 stitches each for the armhole and future sleeves, and the outermost 10 stitches for the inside of the product.

The remaining loops for the armhole can be transferred to an auxiliary needle or pin. And then pick them up again on a working needle and continue knitting. But I decided that the pin would get in the way, and knitted the 12 stitches set aside for the armhole with an additional yellow thread. Again I transferred them to the left knitting needle and continued to knit the same row with yarn of the main color to the place of the next armhole, 12 loops of which were also knitted first with an additional thread, then with the main one.

We knit the remaining 10 cm to the neck line as marked on the pattern - cutting off the loops left for the armhole in every second row: knit 10. p., 2 persons together, 8 persons, 2 vm. persons., 31 persons, 2 vm. persons., 8 persons., 2 vm. persons., 10 persons. We knit the purl row without shortening. We knit 10 rows in this way until we cut all 12 loops marked for the armhole.

We return to the armhole: pull out an additional thread, pick up the freed loops evenly on 3 knitting needles.

We knit the sleeves of the blouse in circular rows. We knit the last two rows with garter stitch and close the work. We make the second sleeve in the same way.

We tie the remaining 51 neck loops 3.5 cm with a 1x1 elastic band.

To prevent the fabric of the sweater from curling inward, we simply tie the fronts 1 r. purl stitches, leaving buttonholes on one shelf.

If desired, you can sew in a lock.

That's all - the cat blouse is ready!

Successful fitting, which means you can get ready for a walk!

Animals in clothes are not a fashion fad. Yes, they are very cute in their beautiful outfits, but that's not the main thing. The main task of clothing for animals is to keep them warm during the cold season. Although, some breeds of dogs and cats freeze even in summer. So you have to warm your pets, and thus show your love and care.

Most often, clothes are purchased for animals. It's much easier than sewing or knitting. But such products are expensive, and some manufacturers sin by using low-quality materials. So it turns out that it’s safer to buy yarn for newborns or natural fabric, and make new clothes for animals with your own hands.

Today I want to talk about how you can knit a jumpsuit with a hood from half a skein of yarn, which will keep you warm in winter and will be reliable protection on cold spring and autumn days.

To make a jumpsuit with a hood, the following materials are needed:
- cherry-colored yarn Nako (260 m / 100 g)
- black yarn (260 m / 100 g)
- knitting needles No. 4 or knitting machine
- hook No. 3
- large needle

We cast on 52 loops.
Rows 1-27 - stockinette stitch.
Rows 28-33 - 1x1 rib.
Rows 34-36 - stockinette stitch.

We divide the fabric into 8, 6, 24, 6 and 8 loops, where sections of 6 loops are dropped onto an additional thread or pin.

We knit a section of 24 loops 12 rows in stockinette stitch, and sections of 8 loops we knit 21 rows in stockinette stitch.

Row 58 - in sections of 6 skipped loops, make 6 yarn overs and connect the fabric into one whole (the total amount of loops is 52).
59 -73 rows - stocking stitch (6 cm).
Row 74: Cast off the first 12 stitches.
Row 75 - cast off the first 12 stitches.
Rows 76-83 - stockinette stitch (6 cm).
Row 84 - add 14 stitches at the beginning of the row.
Row 85 - add 14 stitches at the beginning of the row.
Rows 86-95 - stockinette stitch.
Row 96 - cast off middle 12 stitches.

Knitting is divided into left and right parts. You need to make several loop cuts from the middle of the knitting (from the place where 12 loops are closed).

Left side.
Row 97 - cast off the first 2 stitches near the cast off 12 stitches.
Row 98 - stocking stitch.
Row 99 - cast off the first 2 stitches near the cast off 12 stitches.
Row 100 - stockinette stitch.
Row 101 - cast off the first 2 stitches near the cast off 12 stitches.
Row 102 - stocking stitch.
103 row - close the first 1 loop near the closed 12 loops.
Rows 104-127 - stocking stitch.
Row 128 - bind off the loops.

Right side.
Repeat rows 97-128 for the other (right) side.

The result is a product like this.

Sleeves

Cast on 30 stitches and knit 20 rows in stockinette stitch. Repeat to make the second sleeve.

Assembling the overalls.

First, we make a seam in the middle of the chest.

Sew the hood.

Sew the sleeves for the hind legs (pants legs).

We crochet the back of the jumpsuit with double crochets.

We tie the edges of the hood with single crochets.

In order to keep your pet warm in the cold, you need to knit clothes for him. This is especially true for Sphynx cats, which have delicate skin. For them, clothes made by your hands will be very useful. In this article you will find a description of the sweater, with a pattern and detailed description. If the cat is not protected from hypothermia, then it will develop respiratory diseases. At the same time, diseases in sphinxes are very difficult to treat.

As you know, a cat is one of the domestic animals that has the most pronounced character, and each individual has its own, but what they have in common is willfulness, capriciousness and stubbornness. In sphinxes, these qualities are generally manifested much more clearly. Therefore, it is necessary to accustom the cat to clothes carefully, and in no case against the will of the cat.

The first and most important circumstance: clothing should not be too tight, and at the same time, should not drag on the floor, interfering with the movement of the animal. It is optimal to have fasteners that allow you not to squeeze the animal into a piece of clothing, but to envelop it with it.

Clothing should be made of natural, non-electrifying materials.

When trying on, try to keep the animal busy with games or treats. It's good if you have one or a couple of assistants. If there is an urgent need (for example, you have to move for a long time with an animal in the cold season), it is not a sin to use a trick and lure the animal with the help of a special spray purchased at a pet store with the aroma of catnip.

Sweater with pattern

Before you start knitting a sweater, take a tape measure and measure the volume of your pet's neck and the approximate length of the sweater. When you make a cutout for the neck, do not make it small, otherwise the cat will be uncomfortable.

To work you need:

  1. knitting needles number 3.5
  2. circular needles number 3.5
  3. yarn 100 grams (wool or 50/50 with acrylic)

Let's get started

The main pattern is stockinette stitch. Knit over knit, purl over purl. Knitting density: 16 loops / 20 rows = 10 / 10 centimeters. We knit in 2 threads.

Let's start work from the front. We put 25 loops on the knitting needles and knit them with an elastic band, knit 1. 1 purl. 3 centimeters. Then we continue working with stockinette stitch to a height of 10 centimeters. The pattern has it all. 13 centimeters from the edge, to form sleeves, we cast on 18 loops on both sides of the fabric (a total of 61 loops on the knitting needles). We knit 10 centimeters exactly with the front ones and for the neckline we close off 21 loops in the middle. (20 loops remain on the knitting needles). In the next row, add 28 stitches above the closed stitches. (There were 68 loops on the knitting needles). Knit another 10 centimeters in stockinette stitch with an even fabric and bind off 18 stitches on both sides. (There are 32 loops on the needles). After another 10 centimeters, elastic 1/1 (k1, p1). Knit an elastic band 3 centimeters. Close the loops without tightening them too much.

Assembly

Sew the side seams and sleeve seams. Making a neckline: cast on loops on circular knitting needles and knit as many centimeters as you want for the collar. You can make the collar high, or you can just make it a few centimeters. We knit with a 2/2 cm elastic band. The main thing is that the cat is comfortable.

The video provides detailed information on how to crochet a sweater for a dog, but this sweater is also suitable for our favorite sphinxes.

Sweater with a pattern

You can knit a gorgeous sweater with a pattern for your pet. It will be more complicated than the previous one, but it will look very interesting. It’s up to you to decide which sweater to choose.

For this sweater we will need:

  1. knitting needles number 3.5
  2. yarn 100 grams (light and dark) wool or 50/50 with acrylic

Knitting density 16 p. / 22 rows = 10/10 cm. Cast on 48 loops with blue thread and knit with a 2/2 elastic band. Switch to a white thread and knit 5 cm in stockinette stitch. Next, start knitting the pattern according to the pattern:

Scheme

At the same time, knit the holes for the paws: knit 7. loops, cast off 6 loops, knit 22. loops, close 6 loops. 7 persons. loops Knit the resulting 3 parts separately for the next 5 centimeters, then connect them by casting 6 loops above the closed loops. After 20 centimeters from the neck, start decreasing (3 times 3 loops on both sides). Close the remaining loops after finishing the pattern. Along the edges of the holes for the cat's paws, cast on 20 loops with a dark thread and tie 4 centimeters with a 2/2 elastic band. The sweater is ready.

This pattern will help you knit a comfortable sweater for your cat with short sleeve. You can just tie it around the armhole. Before you build, you must measure and write down its dimensions. Using these dimensions, you will create an individual pattern, which will come in handy more than once in the future.

The depth of the armhole depends on the size of the cat. If you plan to edge the armholes with elastic, then increase their height and depth by 1 cm. You need to reduce the width of the backrest as follows:

  • Smoothly: knit 2 stitches together along the edges of the back in every second right row.
  • Sharp: Knit 2 stitches together along the edges of the back on each RS row.

We knit with an elastic band (knit 1, purl 1). You can decorate the back with braids or braids. We knit the collar with an elastic band (K2, P2).

Pattern

1 is 1/3 of the neck circumference

2 is 2/3 of the neck circumference

3 is the distance from the base of the neck to the front paw

4 is the distance between the front paws

5 is the width of the back + 2 cm (allowance for armholes)

(chest circumference + 3 cm) = (distance between front legs + 2 cm)

6 is the length of the tummy = the distance from the base of the neck to the middle of the abdomen.

7 is the length of the back

8 is the height of the armhole, increased by 1 cm of the girth of the front paw - multiply the depth of the armhole by 2.

9 - armhole depth = 1 – 3 cm.

We measure the cat, transfer it to paper, cut it out and knit it, looking at the pattern.

Vest

Before you begin, measure your cat's waist circumference. The waist circumference is indicated on the pattern by the letter T.

If you choose wool for knitting, then opt for soft wool intended for children. You need about 50 gr. Knitting starts from the back and goes in one piece. First there is a 3 cm elastic band, then there is an armhole (by any method). We close the armhole loops on one side and knit to the end of the row. At the end, turning the work, we do the same and continue knitting to the neckline. To knit it, we make one shoulder, close the neckline by 5 cm and continue knitting for another 3 cm. We cast on loops for a 5 cm neckline and combine 2 shoulders.

Cats are heat-loving animals. Short-haired, and especially hairless, breeds often freeze even in a warm room. With age, your pet begins to freeze more and more. The solution to the problem is clothing. It is often used at exhibitions and costume shows. Making clothes for cats with your own hands is very simple; a general understanding of cutting and sewing is sufficient.

To make it yourself, you need to start by drawing a pattern of clothes for cats, and before that, take measurements. There are three main measures:

  • the circumference of the animal's neck;
  • back length from neck to tail;
  • body girth (measured behind the front legs).

Having three measurements, you can sew a blanket, sleeveless jacket or a simple sweater for an animal. To create complex models, you will need to measure the abdominal circumference, the length of the abdomen from the neck to the hind legs, the distance between the front legs, and the shoulder circumference.

Using these measurements, you can create any pattern for cat outfits. Do-it-yourself knitted clothing for cats is somewhat simpler to make; it can be adjusted directly on the animal, making intermediate fittings. Experienced knitters will have no difficulty knitting a sweater for a pet without taking measurements.

You need to take measurements from a cat when he is in a calm state, standing on all fours.

Preparing the pattern

The simplest pattern is a trapezoid with rounded edges and holes for the front legs. To build it, you will need the length of the back, the girth of the neck, chest, and the distance between the forelimbs. The comfort of the animal’s movements depends on the latter, so special attention should be paid to the measurement.

When creating a pattern for clothing for cats, you must take into account seam allowances and fastenings. The outfit should not be too tight on the animal’s body or restrict movement. This will bring discomfort and harm to the cat’s health, since tight clothing will impair blood circulation and lymph flow.

A more complex pattern consists of two parts, suitable for construction various models dresses, blouses, jackets, and other clothing. The upper part covers the back and sides of the pet, the lower part covers the belly. To create such a pattern, you should measure the length of the back, abdomen, chest circumference, waist, distance between the legs, and neck circumference. It can be supplemented with sleeves, a hood, and other details.

The most complex pattern design is needed for sewing overalls for walking outside in cold weather. It includes sleeves and "pants" for the animal, the back and belly are completely covered, and a hood is often added. Sleeves are usually made loose, with elastic at the bottom edge, so the main measurements are the length of the back and the girth of the animal's body - in the chest and abdomen. You also need to provide a hole for the tail.

Sewing and fitting

The paper pattern is transferred to the fabric, secured well with pins. The parts are cut with seam allowance. Then you need to sweep them off first and be sure to try them on your pet. This allows you to timely detect and correct any shortcomings in the sphinxes’ clothing scheme. After making changes, the parts need to be swept away and tried on again. And so on until the outfit fits perfectly.

The fitted parts of the suit are sewn by machine or by hand. The edges of loose fabrics should be pre-overlocked or treated with any overcast seam. First, the upper and lower parts of the suit are sewn together, then small details are sewn on. There should not be too many of them, and it is also worth excluding sharp, small decorations that the cat can get hurt on, chew off or swallow. It is recommended to add elastic band around the edges for winter options. Before adding the finishing touches and sewing on decorations, you should do one more fitting.

Before cutting and sewing, wash the fabric and iron it with a hot iron. This will help assess the degree of shrinkage.

Creation technology depending on the type of clothing

You can create almost any clothing that people wear for cats. However, the main requirement here is that it must first of all be warm, comfortable for the animal, and only then beautiful. The most popular model options are a sweater, a blanket and a dress.

Sweater

A sweater is a universal garment. Thin options are suitable for warmer weather, thick ones for frosty winter. We sew such a garment from soft knitwear or knit it from natural yarn. The main thing is that in hairless cats the seams should be as smooth as possible, and the yarn should in no case be scratchy.

A simple option to make a sweater for the sphinx with your own hands is to sew it from socks. Even a person far from sewing and knitting can cope with this. All you need to do is take a sock, knee socks or pant leg from knitted leg warmers of a suitable size, cut to the desired length, and make holes for the front legs. Then finish the seams and decorate if necessary – warm clothes for your pet are ready. Separately, you can cut out sleeves from the same sock and carefully sew them into the armhole.

The only thing simpler than a sweater made from socks is a blanket. It is a cape with slots for paws. Made from lightweight fabric, it will help the cat not overheat in the sun, and made from denser materials, it will not freeze in winter.

Its peculiarity is that the distance between the front legs is not important here, since it does not fasten or close on the stomach. Therefore, the main measurements will be the back length, chest and neck circumferences. This type of clothing is usually tied at the neck.

But this is a decorative blanket. A completely different piece of clothing is a postoperative blanket. It is necessary to prevent the animal from touching or scratching the stitches after surgery. It is a design that covers the stomach and is tied or fastened on the back in several places. To prevent the blanket from slipping, slots are made in it for the front legs for better fixation.

Dress

The dress is already decorative cat clothing. However, it can also be useful and warm. For example, if you attach an openwork short skirt with a crochet to a knitted sleeveless vest or a sweater made from a sock. Such knitted clothes It will not only look cute on cats, but also keep the animal warm.

Well, in general, a dress, be it sewn or knitted, in most cases is a sleeveless vest, made according to the simplest pattern, with a skirt attached to it. It is usually fastened at the back. Zipper and Velcro are options for hairless breeds; for the rest, buttons or ties are suitable.

Video

Nowadays, many pet stores offer a variety of pets: the variety of textures, models and colors is simply mesmerizing. But such things are not cheap.

Whim or necessity

Not every owner can afford to buy, for example, a sweater for a cat for 1000 rubles or more. And for others, the exorbitant price does not bother them at all, because they want their pet to look exclusive, to wear outfits that cannot be seen on anyone else’s pet.

In both cases, there is an amazing solution - hand-sewn clothes for cats. Moreover, for some breeds this is not a whim, but a real necessity! For example, short-haired cats get cold in winter. Wounded animals are dressed to prevent them from licking the ointment from the wound. It is easier for pregnant women to carry their offspring if their belly is supported

Clothing is also necessary for exhibitions. The originality of the model gives you a greater chance of winning.

It's not that complicated

How to sew clothes for a cat? You can turn to professionals, or you can try it yourself. Today, there seem to be not so few manuals on the topic, and you can still buy them in the same pet stores. Therefore, if you are familiar with knitting techniques and also like to do handicrafts, good luck! If not, there is no need to despair. It is not at all difficult to master certain skills. Anyone can do this. Enough to devote educational process a little time and show perseverance and patience.

Selecting an option

Carefully select the materials from which the model will be made. The fabric should be practical, light, and washable. Ideal for cats.

It is important not to forget that various rivets can damage the delicate skin of the animal. Therefore, if you really want to use additional decorations, let them be in a place inaccessible to the cat.

Make sure that your clothes are not tight and do not rub your pet’s skin. In addition to the risk of damage to the skin, this restricts the animal’s movements. Cats quickly get used to comfortable and light clothing.

If the cat is already an adult, and before that she went without a dress, then it is better to start accustoming her to clothes with short models: vests, blouses without a collar, etc. Over time, it will be possible to wear longer options. In addition, she herself will soon understand that it is warmer and more comfortable, especially in the cold season. And handmade clothes for cats are also pleasing to the owner’s eyes!

We knit it ourselves! Clothes for cats

You can crochet some pretty interesting and original things. Do you want them - openwork, for summer walks? Do you want - dense, practical ones. Depending on the type of clothing (winter/summer), the pattern, model and yarn are selected. Don't forget to take your pet's measurements. Choose a hook according to the thickness and density of the threads.

You can draw the pattern of the future product yourself, using your imagination. Or take a ready-made option - there are plenty of diagrams in magazines. Measurements are necessary to be sure that the finished item will fit your pet exactly. Be sure to measure your back length and tummy circumference.

First stage

To start, you can knit a simple sweater. Its pattern is extremely simple. Draw the letter “T”, where the vertical stripe is the length of the sweater, and the horizontal stripe serves as sleeves for the front legs.

It is better to choose soft yarn intended for knitting clothes for small children. Then you will be sure that the fur will not prick the cat’s body. Fifty grams of yarn will be enough.

We knit the fabric continuously, starting from the back. First you need to knit an elastic band (three to four centimeters), then go to the armhole with the pattern you like, after which we knit the rest. We close the loops first on one side, knit further, close the loops on the other side. And so on to the neck.

Second stage

We knit the neckline in the same way as the elastic band at the beginning of work. To do this, you need to tie the loops from the first shoulder, then close all the loops of the neck (by four to five centimeters).

We knit the loops of the second shoulder - about three centimeters. We return to the first one, we also knit three centimeters. We pick up the neck loops again - about five centimeters - and combine the resulting part.

Third stage

We finish knitting the front with an elastic band of three centimeters. It is also better to design the armhole and neckline in a similar way. In this case, the width of the elastic band should be slightly smaller - about two centimeters.

Vest and hat for a pet

Using the same pattern, you can imagine how to sew clothes for a cat. This requires fabric or fur. You just need to round off the armholes and leave a little more space for the fastener.

We cut the vest in one piece. Be sure to trim the fabric with braid or any other trim around the neckline and paw holes to prevent it from fraying. It is best to make a Velcro fastener on the side - this is the best option for cat decorations.

A wonderful addition to such a blouse would be knitted hat. To make it, you also need to take measurements from the head: girth, distance between the ears and length from the frontal part to the back of the head. For the diagram, the same letter “T” is suitable, where the horizontal line is the radius of the head, and the vertical line passes between the ears and ultimately connects with the horizontal one.

And finally

Hand-sewn clothes for cats are very practical, beautiful and exclusive. Be sure to try modeling something for your pet too! But! Before dressing your pet, please note the following facts:

1. Accustom your pet to clothes gradually. If you put a jacket or hat on an unprepared animal, it will appear to him severe stress. Everything has its time! He should get used to the outfit, and not perceive clothing as something that interferes with movement.

2. Don't change things too often.
