Topiary made of leaves and rowan. Unique topiary made of autumn leaves: golden decor for the interior

The time has come for bright red and yellow autumn leaves partially preserved on tree branches, partially scattered on the sidewalks of streets and parks. Probably every second adult, while still a child, collected leaves of beautiful shapes and colors, and then put them in books to dry. It’s just that few people know what to do next with a wonderful collection of autumn leaves. Some people paste them into a special album, while others create beautiful and graceful topiaries. And how this is done, our master class on creating topiary from dried autumn leaves with detailed photos during the article.

We are studying a master class on creating topiary from autumn leaves

To make topiary from dry tree leaves you will need:

  • Dry tree leaves different colors and shapes, for example, maple
  • Clay or ceramic flower pot
  • Two identical foam balls
  • Wooden stick for barrel
  • Bronze or gold spray paint
  • Thermal glue gun
  • Dried sprigs of rowan berries
  • Long, curved blades of grass, such as reeds
  • Ceramic figurines of various shapes or shells for decoration

The foam ball is glued to the bottom of the flower pot using a hot glue gun.

After the glue has dried, a hole is carefully made in the ball with scissors, into which a wooden stick is placed under the barrel. As a trunk, you can use, for example, sushi chopsticks, wooden kebab skewers or a beautiful curved tree branch. Then the surface of the pot, the foam ball-base and the stick-trunk are covered with bronze or gold spray paint. Give the product some time to dry.

Making a crown and assembling an autumn topiary

In the second foam ball, just like in the first, a small hole is made using scissors. Using this hole, the ball is threaded onto a stick-trunk, and then carefully coated with thermal glue. This ball will be the basis for a crown of maple topiary.

Dry tree leaves are attached to the legs on a foam base in dense, even rows.

If there are no legs or they are quite fragile, then the leaves are glued with a glue gun. There is no need to overdo it with glue, a small drop will completely hold the leaf, excess glue will only spoil the entire aesthetic appearance of the crown of the tree of happiness.

Dry branches of rowan berries and blades of reed grass are attached in the same way. Draw in your head an approximate diagram for attaching the topiary parts; this will help you ultimately get a thoughtful and well-designed herbarium composition.

Now you can start decorating the pot. To do this, attach a small number of leaves and one or two small berry sprigs to the lower base ball. Ceramic figurines in the form of insects or a shell resembling a snail are attached to the leaves using thermal glue. In addition, the pot can be bandaged satin ribbon or wrap it in a brightly colored floral net.

To naturally aromatize the room, you can pour some natural coffee beans or aromatic herbs, such as lavender or lemon balm, into the autumn topiary pot.

Exquisite topiary made from maple leaves is ready!

A topiary made from dry leaves does not necessarily have an autumn theme, but can also be a wonderful New Year's decoration.

Preparing New Year's topiary from leaves and cones

To make a New Year's topiary from leaves and cones you will need:

  • Heavy flower pot, such as clay
  • 2 wooden sticks, one slightly thicker than the other
  • Polyurethane foam container
  • Balloon
  • Dry tree leaves
  • Cones
  • Thermal glue gun
  • Several walnuts, replicas of small apples, beads, thin organza ribbon, narrow satin ribbon for decoration
  • Spray paint in gold or silver color

A heavy flower pot is filled halfway with polyurethane foam, and two wooden sticks are placed in the center under the trunk.

Polyurethane foam from the same container is poured into the balloon until it becomes required size. This will be the basis for the topiary crown. The ball and pot are removed for a day until the polyurethane foam has completely dried.

After the foam has dried, the rubber is peeled off from the round base under the crown. hot air balloon. A small hole is made in the base, with which it is strung onto sticks.

The clay pot and sticks under the barrel are painted with golden spray paint.

After the paint has completely dried, cones are glued onto the base ball using a glue gun with small gaps between them. Tree leaves are glued into these spaces. Cones, tree leaves and walnuts for decoration, they are pre-painted with spray paint of different colors, for example, nuts and cones in golden color pot, and the leaves are a richer bronze color.

Let's start decorating the topiary with a New Year's mood. To do this, a thicker trunk is wrapped with gold pearl beads from top to bottom, spreading along the base of polyurethane foam in a pot, the edges of which are fixed with thermal glue. The second trunk is wrapped with a narrow gold-colored satin ribbon, the edges are also fixed with glue. Walnuts and artificial red apples are glued to the crown in several places. One or two apples can be glued to the base of the pot. By the way, an organza ribbon tied into a delicate bow is also attached there.

To add aroma to the New Year's tree of happiness, you can drop a couple of drops of essential citrus and pine oils on it.

Video selection on the topic of the article

In this article we told you how to make topiary from cones and dry tree leaves on two different themes with your own hands. Below, after the text, there are several videos on making autumn topiaries, which we offer for viewing. Thank you for your attention!

One of the most popular materials for manufacturing autumn crafts are leaves, so they make very interesting topiaries. Let's look at a few leaf tutorials.

Before making such topiaries, you should decide on the materials from which you will make them: dry, fresh or artificial leaves. This depends on the life of the craft. The most durable will be the one made from plastic, not real ones.

Master class No. 1 - autumn topiary

You only need a ball, a pot, twigs with leaves and berries.

We place the ball in the pot and begin to insert twigs into it and individual leaves until we completely cover the entire surface.

DIY topiary "Autumn"

To create such a tree you will need a cone made of polystyrene foam or polystyrene foam and various decorations on branches or pins (leaves, berries, bows).

We take a cone and insert leaves with berries into it along the entire outer surface.

This way we get a durable decorative decoration, without the use of glue, which can be placed where we need it.

Autumn topiary of leaves and flowers

You will need:

  • artificial leaves and flowers;
  • large cinnamon stick;
  • 1.5 foam balls;
  • pot;
  • paints and glitter;
  • glue, brushes and glue gun.

Execution:

  1. Cut off the leaves from the branches and cover them on one side with glitter.
  2. We put a whole ball on one end of the cinnamon, and pull the half through the other end up 5-8 cm.
  3. From the junction of the stick and the ball, we begin to glue the leaves, applying glue to the wrong side in the middle. It is very important that their ends remain free and create additional volume.
  4. We insert the end where the half of the ball is put into the pot and lower it down so that the cinnamon does not move from side to side.
  5. We decorate the space around the trunk with moss, and our autumn topiary is ready.

As an option, you can glue the leaves completely to the ball and paint the top with varnish. The crown will not be so lush, but also very interesting.

Topiary is a kind of eco-decor that can serve as an excellent element of your interior, as well as an original gift relatives and friends. This craft can be made at any time of the year using various materials. For people who love handicrafts, this word is no longer new. We present to your attention a master class “Topiary from autumn leaves”.

We all know that autumn is very rich in natural materials, and especially in a variety of leaves. But before you start making the “Tree of Happiness” from dry tree leaves, you need to dry the leaves. There are several ways to dry leaves: put them in a book or magazine, the second way is to put the leaf on an ironing board, cover with a sheet of white paper and iron it a little.

This method will dry the leaves much faster than the first, but if you think about it in advance, there will be no problems with this.

Topiaries can be made from maple leaves and even combined - from leaves and cones, acorns.

Tree of Happiness

We present to your attention a master class “Topiary from autumn leaves”. In it you will learn how to make such a miracle for decoration with your own hands.

Before you start work, need to read the materials which we will use in today's master class:

  • scissors;
  • newspapers, napkins or plain paper;
  • glue (super glue, glue gun);
  • a wooden stick or pencil (it all depends on the size of your tree);
  • container for wood (yogurt cup, pot, bottom of a plastic bottle);
  • wide tape;
  • dry tree leaves (maple leaves make a good craft);
  • gypsum;
  • satin ribbons, beads, stones.

Once you have stocked up with everything you need, you can begin work.

Let's prepare the pot for use. After you select the desired container (this could be a yogurt cup, a pot, the bottom plastic bottle), you have the right to decorate it. You can use paint, nail polish to paint the pot, or use ribbons and pebbles to cover the outer surface (you can choose the colors, sizes, shapes of the materials yourself).

When appearance our pot is much more attractive than before, you can follow further.

Let's prepare the base. As for the base that will hold the tree trunk, here you can choose any mounting mixture (cement-sand mortar, putty, plaster or alabaster) or the same floral foam/foam.

If you prefer the first option, we recommend using alabaster. It is affordable, you can buy it at any building materials store, it is easy to install and does not crack.

Instructions for using alabaster:

To fill 1 container with alabaster you will need about 300-400 g of the mixture and about 1.5 cups of water. Stir the solution for several minutes. As soon as the mixture thickens to the consistency of thick sour cream, pour it into a container, then install the barrel and hold it level for 2-3 minutes. Leave the mixture to dry for 12-24 hours.

If you use gypsum, then its consistency should resemble thick sour cream, and the drying time for such material is 30-35 minutes.

Next, you need to prepare the tree crown itself. You can use plain paper, newspaper and even napkins. You need to crumple the paper so that you get a smooth ball, and to prevent it from unfolding, we will secure it tightly with wide tape. When the crown is ready, you need to make a small hole for the future trunk of our tree.

Preparing dry leaves for decoration. In order to properly secure the leaves to the crown of the tree, we will use a glue gun (working with it requires extreme care).

The leaves can be stacked on top of each other, making all sorts of compositions that your imagination and soul desire. Here are photos that you can use when making wood. You can also add touches such as beads and stones.

The final stage is making the trunk of our tree. You can use any wood stick as a trunk: a strong branch (previously dried), a simple pencil, a knitting needle, sushi sticks or a wooden stick (the height of the trunk may be different, depending on the height of the pot, the diameter of the ball and your wishes about the height of the product). If you don’t like the original appearance of the trunk, then you can wrap it with ribbons, strands, or simply paint it with paint (nail polish).

When all the elements are ready, all that remains is to assemble them into one whole composition. We put the barrel on the ball, first fill it with glue, fix it and hold it for a few seconds. We place the finished tree in a pot with a mixture of gypsum or alabaster, we also fix it and check how firmly the trunk holds in the pot.

What you can get is shown in the photo:

Autumn trees are beautiful. They attract attention with their brightness, riot of colors and natural beauty. I just want to say: “stop a moment, you are wonderful”! And this is quite possible, you just need to know how to make a tree from autumn leaves. A tree made of leaves is also called topiary; it is considered to be a symbol of happiness, and therefore it simply must appear in your home.

How to make topiary - a tree from leaves

To work you need to prepare:

  • Multi-colored not dry leaves of autumn trees
  • Hot glue gun and glue itself
  • Scissors
  • Wood base
  • Pot for your product
  • Bunches of rowan
  • Styrofoam ball
  • Decorative elements according to your wishes

Step 1

The ball can be bought at any store that sells anything for creativity, or at a flower stall. If you can’t find it on sale, you can make it yourself, but keep in mind that it takes time. So, we soak a large number of newspapers well and crumple them into a ball. We place them in a stocking, form a ball and leave it to dry for a day.

Step 2

We spread the plaster. We place the topiary post (it can be a bush branch, any stick, a plastic tube) in the pot and begin to gradually fill it with plaster. We leave it to harden. You need to make a hole in the ball for the prepared base.

Step 3

We wash the leaves and rowan well. On the street they have absorbed dust and dirt, which is harmful to breathe, so it is better to get rid of them. If the colors of the leaves are faded, then they can be painted, but in our case it is better to do this when they are semi-dry. After painting, the leaves must be glued extremely carefully, avoiding crumbling.

Step 4

The plaster has already hardened, so we fix the ball onto the stick using hot glue. Essentially, you have the “skeleton” of your future tree ready and it’s time to get to the most interesting part of the work.

Step 5

Now we proceed directly to making a tree from leaves. Using hot glue, we glue the dried leaves of the trees to the ball in a chaotic manner, slightly twisting them, turning them inside out, in general, we show our imagination. At the very end we attach rowan branches. They are heavy, so it would be great to make a hole in the ball and glue the rowan from the inside.

Step 6

Decorate the trunk and pot - and your autumn tree is ready!

Topiary can become even more unusual if you make it bloom. To do this you need to twist roses from maple leaves. It's easy and won't take much time.

The first leaf is folded in half and rolled into a tight tube. Each subsequent one is folded loosely and the tube is wrapped in a looser manner, forming a lush blooming flower bud.

We continue this way until the product reaches the size you need. The finished flower is tied at the base with a thread, and the excess is cut off. Apply hot glue to the base and press the flower to our ball.

This is how you get a blooming autumn topiary tree.

How to make a tree from leaves with your child

There is nothing easier than making an applique in the form of a colorful tree.

You need to prepare:

  • The base of the craft, preferably dense
  • Brush and paints
  • Leaves
  • PVA glue

First of all, you need to thoroughly rinse the leaves and then dry them with a towel. If you want to make a picture with dry leaves, you can dry them in the oven.

On paper (the basis of the picture) we draw a tree trunk. Here you can not limit your imagination and make the most unusual branches.

After the paint has dried, we can make the crown of our tree. You can simply glue the leaves onto PVA, placing them tightly on the paper, or you can make them slightly voluminous by lifting the edges. The more magnificent the crown, the better your new masterpiece will look.

Finally, an extraordinary time has come when you can admire the brightest colors of autumn. It's a good time to collect all kinds of leaves of golden and burgundy flowers. What a wonderful time it is - autumn. And if you want to capture her moments in your home, then try making a topiary from autumn leaves.

Before starting work, you must definitely decide on the materials that will be used in the work. These can be fresh, dry or artificial leaves. Everything depends entirely on the operating time of the future craft. Of course, topiaries made from artificial leaves will be the most durable.

To create such unusual beauty, just take a walk to the park and collect leaves of the brightest colors; do not forget about materials such as chestnuts, acorns, twigs, etc. It is better to take yellow maple leaves as the basis for our tree. You can collect more of them than all the others. We will also definitely need some larger twig, which we will use to make the base of the topiary. It doesn't have to be a straight shape, on the contrary, try to find something more intricate with different small knots. If you like, try to create a tree with several crowns.

Additional tools you will need are glue, a glass or small pot and other decorative elements.

When getting started, the first thing you need to do is form small bundles of rowan and maple leaves. These will form the basis of the crown of our tree. To do this, you need to take a sprig of rowan and wrap a maple leaf folded like an accordion around it. You can also weave in various burgundy and green leaves. The base of such ligaments must be secured with thread and the excess trimmed off. There should be at least 8 such bundles.

Now let's start decorating the base. Take an ordinary glass or flower pot you have at home and cover it with any fabric you like. For further decoration, you can use whatever you have on hand. These can be rowan branches, leaves, acorns, etc. Next, you need to take a piece of newspaper, wash it off and coat it with glue. Press it firmly into the bottom of your pot so that the newspaper takes up about half of the container. You need to make a small indentation using a knife or scissors, coat the end of the base stick and insert it into the resulting indentation. The remaining space in the container must be tightly filled with acorns or chestnuts, having previously coated them with glue.

The next step is to make a base for the tree crown. To do this, you need to crumple a small ball from the newspaper and wrap it a little with thread so that it does not get lost. beautiful shape. Make a small depression in it using the same scissors or knife, pour glue into it and place the ball on the free end of the base stick. If the stick is very wide, then it can be sharpened a little beforehand. After the base for our topiary has completely dried, we begin to attach bunches of leaves to it. Each bundle must be coated in turn with glue at the cut site and attached to a newspaper ball. Make sure that symmetry is maintained, and for convenience, the first bunch should be glued at the top center. If any holes appear, it doesn’t matter. You can always add a few extra bundles or fill in the gaps with acorns or other decorative elements.

Please note that the finished tree can be sprayed with hairspray, special attention give it to the rowan berries. This is necessary in order to give our tree additional shine. These are the main aspects of making an autumn tree. But remember that such a craft is not durable. To make it, choose leaves that are not too dry. This way your tree can last a little longer.

As you can see, making such a tree yourself is not so difficult. And the master class will help you with ideas and tips on production. A tree made of leaves will stand on your windowsill for a very long time and will be the main decoration of your interior. Involve your child in the creation process, he will really enjoy this activity. Moreover, everything that is made with one’s own hands is appreciated and remembered for a very long time.

Of the autumn flowers, the most suitable are those that do not lose their visual appeal when dry. Immortelle retains not only the shape of the petals, but also the color. You should also look for beautifully curved sticks for the barrel of the product. Anyone can use it natural material.

It can be given as a bouquet. To create beautiful thing, view the master class with a step-by-step description of all the steps.

Step by step assembly

Preparing foliage for crafts:

  1. It is necessary to select maple leaves of approximately the same size and desired color.
  2. To ensure that the leaves bend easily and do not crumble, they should be treated with a special solution. It is prepared from 200 g of glycerin and 400 g of water.
  3. In tight plastic bag The leaves are neatly laid out. There should be room for them in the bag so that each leaf is completely saturated with the solution. After the material is filled with the solution, the bag must be sealed. It can be soldered with an iron or sealed with tape.
  4. After a few hours, the material is taken out of the bag and laid out on a cloth to dry. This master class will help you easily make delicate pink buds from leaves.

Steps to create a rose from leaves:

  1. The prepared sheet should be folded in half with the front side facing out. The top needs to be connected to the petiole.
  2. Starting from the side tip, the leaf is wrapped widthwise into a tight roll.
  3. The roll is wrapped in a second sheet, folded in the same way. In this case, the petioles of both leaves should be at the bottom. The second leaf imitates a pink petal. The fold line represents the outer edge of the petal. In order for the petal to be voluminous, it does not need to be pressed tightly against the bud.
  4. Continuing to wrap the bud in new leaves folded in half, a flower is gradually formed. If you move the petals down when placing them, the rose will look open. When laying the top petals, you should slightly turn their outer edge (fold line), imitating the curled petals of open roses.
  5. The petals are secured with thread near the petioles. Since it is difficult to guess the exact number of colors in advance, they need to be made with a reserve.
  6. The resulting flowers can be additionally coated with vegetable oil. It will make rose petals sparkle. Thanks to oil treatment, the leaves will not crumble or lose their shape for a long time.
  7. At this stage, you can paint the rosebuds in the desired color or leave their natural color. Painted flowers should dry well. A step-by-step master class will help you create a craft.

How to assemble a decorative tree:

  1. First you need to make a base ball. It can be made from newspapers, placing them one on top of the other, like a snowball.
  2. When the ball reaches the desired size, it is secured with threads, winding them like a ball.
  3. The ball is covered with a thin layer of PVA glue. Torn pieces are placed on top of the glue. paper napkins. It is advisable to stick several layers of napkins and leave the base to dry overnight. This measure will help give the ball a shape close to geometrically correct.
  4. The trunk can be made from a branch found in the forest, wire, several tied Chinese sticks or other material at hand. It can be varnished, painted, wrapped with decorative thread, twine or covered with colored paper.
  5. To connect the base ball and the barrel, you need to make a cross-shaped cut in the ball. The tip of the barrel with glue applied to it is inserted into the hole and pressed against the ball.
  6. When the trunk is fixed to the base, you can form a crown of roses. For each rose, a hole of appropriate size is made in the ball. You need to drop a little glue into it and place the bud. The flowers must be placed tightly on the ball so that the base is not visible between them.
  7. The topiary stand can be any container - a children's bucket, a mug, a saucepan without handles or a flower pot. You need to pour gypsum into the container and install the trunk in it when the gypsum begins to dry.
  8. Glue is applied on top of the dried plaster, onto which decorative elements are placed - acorns, cones, nuts. Dried flowers and maple leaves You can decorate the outside of the container.
  9. Twigs with rose hips and dried flowers can be placed between the buds. They are also secured with glue.

Creating a crown of autumn leaves

A master class on making autumn topiary from autumn leaves includes steps to create a base ball, trunk and stand.

The leaves are treated with a glycerin solution in the same way as when making buds. But decorating the crown with them occurs in a different way.

Small holes are made in the ball. For these purposes, you can use a nail or the tip of scissors. You need to drop a little glue into the hole and immerse the leaf petiole into it. To make the crown look lush, the holes need to be made close to one another. Between the leaves you can attach bunches of chokeberry or red rowan berries, dried flowers, sprigs of pine needles or rose hips.

A curved branch will look organic as a trunk. It can be wrapped with twine. By winding the thread around the trunk, you can tie several leaves to it by the petioles.

A layer of gold leaves can be glued on top of the plaster. A rowan branch, nuts, cones or acorns will look beautiful on them. You can attach an artificial apple or mushroom cut from a chestnut tree to the crown or stand. The cap of the mushroom will be part of the brown surface of the chestnut, and the stem is cut out from its core.

With a little imagination, you can create stunningly beautiful floral topiaries.

Topiary- this is a small interior tree that serves to decorate the house and symbolizes prosperity and well-being “Tree of Happiness”. Topiary looks like a small composition in the form of a small tree with a geometric crown. Such trees are created using mainly natural materials and serve as a bright detail in decorating any interior.
So let's get started.
Required material:
- Bundle rope (twine), bast washcloth;
- Wooden stick;
- Plastic cup;
- Stationery pins (1 pack);
- Glue, scissors;

Crepe paper (green, orange);
- Foam plastic;
- Rowan berries (fresh);
- Cones, dried flowers and other natural materials for decoration.

Any topiary consists of three parts - base, trunk and crown.
1. Making the base: We cut out the foam base to the size of the plastic cup and insert it into the jar.

As a basis can be used a flower pot of suitable size, small salad bowls, milk jugs, cups, glasses, tin cans, etc. You can use various materials as a base: polystyrene foam, construction foam, floral sponge or paper.
2. Making a topiary trunk: We take wooden sticks and decorate them with a rope, wrapping them in a spiral so that there are no gaps between the turns of the rope. The rope must be secured to both ends of the wooden stick using glue.

Trunk can be done from a variety of decorative twigs that are sold in florist shops, or an ordinary tree branch found on the street, only twigs from the street must be dried very well before use. Wire or kebab sticks may also work; of course, they will need to be decorated with paper, twine or ribbons - any material you like.
3. Let's start assembling the topiary. Crown for our topiary is made from a foam ball.

We insert the trunk into the base exactly in the middle and secure it with glue (Glue gun or Crystal) and attach the crown of the topiary to the top of the trunk. The preparation is ready!
4. Let's proceed directly to the design of the topiary:
We decorate the crown with a piece of orange crepe paper, securing it at the base with a rope. Similarly, we decorate the base of the topiary with green paper. The paper on the jar can be partially secured with double-sided tape or tied with a string.

5. Then take the rowan berries and string them one at a time onto stationery pins. You get “beads” on needles.

6. When a sufficient number of “beads” have been prepared, you can begin to stick needles with berries into the foam crown of the topiary. You need to start exactly from the center (from top to bottom) moving clockwise, trying not to leave any distance between the berries.

7. Using the same “Beads” berries on the needles, we cover the foam at the base of the topiary, pinning the uneven edges of the paper.

Attention!!! Fresh rowan berries will dry out, therefore, decrease in size, and the topiary will lose its pristine beauty. You can make topiary directly from dried rowan berries. He will also be no less attractive.

8. After everything is ready, we proceed to decorating the topiary using dried flowers, pine cones and any other natural material.

The topiary crown can also be decorated with dried flowers, fresh flowers, ribbons, pieces of fabric, pistachios, coffee beans, pine cones and much more.
