Description of knitting braids using 24 stitches. Knitted braids - patterns with descriptions

Knitting patterns with braids have been very popular for a long time; things associated with braid patterns are considered classic. Despite the fact that knitting braids is performed using one technique, there are many options for knitting braids. Basically, braiding is done when knitting stockinette stitch, often to highlight voluminous braid it is knitted against the backdrop of purl stitch.

A braid in knitting can be weaved to the right if, when crossing the loops, the loops removed on an additional knitting needle are left for work. When crossing the loops to the left, the removed loops are placed in front of the work.

Braid pattern depends on the number of crossed loops, the direction and frequency of weaving. When knitting items with a braid pattern, you must first knit a large sample, since the crossed loops tighten the knitting. Warm things are often knitted with a braid pattern - sweaters, jackets, hats, models with braids stretch well and at the same time retain their original shape.

Knitting braids performed using one technique. In a row, several loops are removed onto an additional knitting needle; the loops are placed in front or behind the work, depending on the direction in which the braid should be formed. Then the loops are knitted after the removed loops, after the loop from the additional knitting needle and further along the row. It is better to remove the loops on a special knitting needle for knitting a braid with a bend in the center, but you can also use a regular short knitting needle.

To cross 16 loops to the left, in a given area we remove the first 8 loops onto an auxiliary needle, leaving these loops for work. Knit the next 8 stitches along the row, then knit the 8 slip stitches from the extra needle. Having completed the front row, knit the loops of the braid purl on the wrong side.

This pattern creates a fluffy braid. A total of 24 wide loops are used. Every 10 rows, first cross the first 16 loops to the right, then after 10 loops, cross 16 loops from the 9th to the 24th to the left.

Braids (plaits) are obtained by simply crossing the loops. This crossing is performed on an even number of loops - 4, 6, 8, etc.

When knitting a braid, you must use an additional knitting needle, open on both sides. Crossed loops are transferred to it during the knitting process. Depending on the position of the additional knitting needle with loops on it, the braid will tilt to the right or left. If the additional spoke is behind the work, the crossing will tilt to the right. If the additional needle is in front of the work, the crossing will tilt to the left.

Technique for making a braid of 4 loops tilting to the left

1. Slip 2 loops of the braid onto a spare needle and leave undone before working.

2. Knit the second 2 stitches of the braid from the main needle with knit stitches.

Crossing stitches is often done on the purl stitch; they reduce the width of the product. Therefore, be sure to knit a control sample, since this type of knitting requires more yarn than when knitting other patterns.

It is quite possible that summer will come someday in the middle zone. This means that it still makes sense to supply bread kvass. It will take at least a week to prepare a good starter, and as forecasters promise, by that time the air temperature should rise above 20 C (in the daytime).

How to prepare sourdough for
homemade bread kvass

Ingredients:

  • 2 liters of cold water;
  • 0.5 loaves of Borodino bread or 100 grams of rye flour + 100 grams of rye bread;
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar;
  • 3 grams of yeast.
  • Preparation time - 5-6 days

How to put kvass:

  • Fry the flour or pieces of bread until they darken (but do not char; with black bread it is sometimes difficult to tell whether it is just toasted or already burnt).
  • Dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar in lukewarm water.
  • After 10 minutes, add a third of the flour or breadcrumbs.
  • Drain almost all the water, add the same amount of fresh water, another spoonful of sugar and another third of crackers or flour with crackers.
    And insist again for a couple of days.
    Drain again, add the remaining crackers (or flour with crackers) and sugar. And fill it with fresh water again.
    During this time, the sourdough will lose its insolent yeasty taste and unpleasant bitterness and it will be possible to use it for drinking kvass. To do this, once every 1.5-2 days, you will need to add water, sugar to taste and a large handful of fresh rye crackers to a three-liter jar with the prepared starter, first removing some of the old soggy ones that have sunk to the bottom. For taste you can add raisins, mint, ginger, honey...

    Patterns and schemes

    "Braid" for 24 loops

    Knit according to diagram 1. It shows the facial rows. In purl rows, knit loops according to the pattern. Between the edge stitches, perform the given loops 1 time. Repeat rows 1–16 constantly.

    Purl garter stitch

    Rows in forward and reverse directions: front and back rows - purl loops.

    Circular rows: alternately purl 1 round row, knit 1 round row.

    Pattern of "cones"

    The number of loops is a multiple of 4 + 1 (3) + 2 edge loops = knit according to. diagram 2. It shows the facial rows. In purl rows, purl all stitches. For size 1, start with 1 edge, repeat the rapport constantly, finish with loops to the arrow and 1 edge; for size 2, start with 1 edge stitch and loop before the repeat, repeat the repeat all the time, finish with loops after the repeat and 1 edge stitch. Complete rows 1–10 once.

    Facial surface

    Rows in forward and reverse direction: front rows - facial loops, purl rows - purl loops.

    Circular rows: knit stitches only.

    Rubber

    Rows in forward and reverse directions (the number of loops is a multiple of 4 + 2 + 2 edge loops).

    Front rows: edge row, alternately knit 2, purl 2, finish with knit 2, edge rows.

    Purl rows: knit loops according to the pattern.

    Circular rows (number of loops is a multiple of 4) = alternately knit 2, purl 2.

    Sequence of patterns

    3.5 cm = 8 rows in garter stitch,
    12 cm = 24 rows in stockinette stitch,
    3.5 cm = 8 rows in garter stitch,
    5 cm = 10 rows with a pattern with “bumps”,
    3.5 cm = 8 rows in purl stitch.
    A total of 36 cm = 76 rows.

    Knitting density

    18.5 p. x 21 r. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with a “braid” pattern;
    14 p. x 23 r. circle.r. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted in purl garter stitch;
    14 p. x 20 r./round r. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with a pattern with “bumps” and stockinette stitch.

    Attention!

    First, make a “braid” strip across. Then knit the top and bottom parts directly on the side edges of the braid. Arrows on the pattern = knitting direction.

    Getting the job done

    Back

    Cast on 26 stitches and knit obliquely.

    After 48 cm = 102 rows (52 cm = 110 rows) from the initial row, bind off all loops.

    For the bottom part, cast on 67 (73) loops along the left side edge of the “braid” and knit 1 purl row. This series is not taken into account in subsequent calculations. Continue work according to sequences of patterns.

    After 36 cm = 76 rows from pattern 1, continue working for the strap with an elastic band, while in the 1st row decrease 3 (1) sts = 64 (72) sts. With a strip width of 6 cm, bind off all loops according to the pattern.

    For the top part, cast on 67 (73) loops along the right side edge of the “braid” and knit in stockinette stitch.

    After 2 cm = 4 rows from pattern 1, decrease for the shoulder bevel on both sides 1 x 2 p., then decrease for the 1st size in every 2nd row * 2 x 2 p. and 1 x 1 p., from * repeat 2 more times; for size 2, close off 9 x 2 sts.

    After 12 cm = 24 rows from the braid, close off the remaining 2 stitches of the shoulders and leave the middle 29 stitches for the neckline.

    Before

    Knit like a back, but after 3 cm = 6 rows from the “braid” close the middle 11 stitches for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

    To round along the inner edge, bind off 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 4 x 1 sts in every 2nd row. At the height of the back, bind off the remaining 2 sts of the shoulders.

    Assembly

    Sew shoulder seams.

    For the collar, cast on the remaining 29 stitches for the back neckline on circular needles, cast on 51 stitches along the edge of the front neckline and knit with an elastic band in circular rows on all 80 stitches. After 22 cm from the beginning of knitting the collar, close all the loops according to the pattern.

    Sew the side seams on the bottom at 38 (36) cm. Leave the top at 20 (22) cm open for the armholes.

    For the straps, cast on 56 (64) loops on circular knitting needles along the edge of each armhole and knit with an elastic band in circular rows. With a strip width of 14 cm, close all the loops according to the pattern.

    Hem the strip halfway inside.
