Housewives who find it difficult to find a suitable room size for their interior, taste preferences a box for things, it is recommended to make it yourself. It is desirable that a homemade laundry basket for the bathroom is functional, comfortable, and durable.

Fabric laundry basket

The empty folding design on a wooden frame fits easily into a closet or pantry.

It is better to make a laundry basket from thick, bright cotton fabric.

Follow the instructions:

  1. Prepare materials: narrow wooden slats 5 mm thick - 4 pcs., thin tubes (wooden, plastic or metal) - 4 pcs., large bolts with nuts - 2 pcs., regular bolts - 8 pcs. cotton fabric, braid or tape, screwdriver, tape measure, sewing machine.
  2. Construct a wooden frame. First, connect 2 long slats, previously sanded, together with bolts and nuts, crosswise, to form the letter X. Using thin tubes (two on top and two on the bottom), fasten the X-shaped elements with a screwdriver and bolts.
  3. After measuring the dimensions of the frame with a tape measure, cut out 4 rectangular elements from the fabric for the sides of the bag and 1 for the bottom. Sew on sewing machine elements so that you get a bag. When sewing, sew 2 ribbons on each side into the seams of the lower part, so that later they can be tied on a wooden frame.
  4. Turn the bag right side out, iron it, and sew the braid with loops in the corners from the wrong side. Secure the product to the frame.

Weaving a basket from newspaper tubes

Making a container for laundry using this technology is suitable for beginners: the process is exciting and not so complicated, but necessary materials almost always available at hand. The laundry basket does not become deformed if the newspaper tubes are twisted as tightly as possible. Weaving technology:

  1. The dirty laundry basket is made using the following materials and tools:
    • stacks of newspapers;
    • glue;
    • thick cardboard;
    • cardboard box;
    • scissors;
    • thin knitting needle (length from 20 cm);
    • clothespins;
    • rulers;
    • stain or acrylic paints.
  2. Make the blanks: after unfolding each sheet of newspaper, cut or tear it from left to right into long strips 7-7.5 cm wide.
  3. Place a strip of newspaper in front of you (horizontally), coat the lower right corner with PVA glue. Having placed the knitting needle on the greased corner at an angle of 20-30°, begin to tightly wind the newspaper onto it. When the knitting needle ends, twist the tube with your hands and glue the tip so that it does not unwind. One end of the pieces will be slightly wider than the other, and they will fit together easily.
  4. Cut two rectangles from cardboard around the perimeter of the bottom of the box, glue the ends between them newspaper tubes- these will be the finishing frames. The frames should be placed at the same distance from each other (measure approximately 5–7 cm between the elements with a ruler).
  5. Glue the cardboard with frame elements to the box, bend the tubes up, and fix the upper ends inside the box with glue. Cover the perimeter of the junction of the bottom of the box with the cardboard with blanks inserted into each other.
  6. Start braiding the laundry basket from the bottom:
    • Having fixed the tip of the tube with glue, weave it around the perimeter like this: above the first tube of the frame, under the second, above the third, under the fourth, etc.
    • When you go through the entire perimeter, start the next row under the first tube, then above the second, and so on until the top of the box.
    • Glue the end of the last element.
  7. After finishing the work, the inside of the box can be covered with cardboard for greater strength and to mask the ends of the glued tubes of the frame. Paint the finished basket with stain or multi-colored acrylic paints and let dry. You can color the newspapers before starting work.

Linen box made from clothesline

When decorating a plastic frame, you can use cords different colors or plain.

To make a laundry basket with your own hands, use the instructions:

  1. Prepare materials and tools: plastic stationery bucket, clothesline (30 m long), glue gun.
  2. With the basket upside down, spray the center with glue from a gun. Attach the edge of a clothesline (or cord) folded into a ring on top.
  3. Consistently applying glue to the rope, press it against the plastic, tightly winding it in coils around the central ring. Having braided the bottom, process the edges of the basket in a similar way, moving upward. PVA can be applied along the entire length of the rope or at approximately equal intervals (7-10 mm).
  4. Having reached the top, bring the rope inside the basket: after making 4-5 turns, finish the job - carefully glue the edge of the cord to the plastic.
  5. If desired, using this technology you can make a laundry basket from a square-shaped plastic box.

Cardboard construction

To make a laundry basket, you can use any cardboard box. Please note: even if you find one that is suitable in size, such a design may not support the weight of the laundry. Some housewives do not decorate the inner walls with napkins, but sew a bag from calico or cotton (for a box measuring 30x40x50 cm you will need about 2 m² of fabric). Instructions for making a cardboard linen box:

  1. Prepare materials and tools: sheets of corrugated cardboard, three-layer thick paper napkins with a pattern (2 packs), clear or tinted varnish, Velcro tape, ribbons, PVA glue, glue gun, stationery knife, small flat paint brush.
  2. Use a utility knife to cut cardboard blanks the right size: bottom and cover – 2 pcs., walls – 8 pcs. Glue the elements in pairs with a gun - they will be double-layered for greater strength of the basket. Let the parts dry.
  3. Assemble the structure in the shape of a box, fastening the parts with a glue gun, then treat the internal seams with glue.
  4. Divide the napkins into layers. Having coated the outside of the box with PVA glue, first cover it with the first (white) layer of napkins. When the layer dries (after 20–30 minutes), glue the second layer of napkins, after half an hour - the last, colored one.
  5. Internal sides Cover the future laundry basket with napkins of a different color (preferably plain colored ones). Try to make small paper folds when working, this will make the product more interesting.
  6. Do the same with the lid: cover the top part with patterned napkins, and the inside with plain ones.
  7. Using a brush with glue, blot the top layer generously and leave the structure to dry overnight. In the morning, coat the inside and outside of the box with two coats of varnish.
  8. Prepare 6 Velcro strips measuring 2x2 cm and 3 cotton tapes 10–15 cm long. Sew the “fleecy” part of the Velcro onto the tapes: one piece at the beginning and end of the tape, on the same side. Glue the “spiky” parts of the Velcro onto the box: 2 at the back and 1 at the front in the middle - at a distance of about 5 cm from the top of the box, the remaining 3 - on the lid of the box so that the tapes attached to the box are tightly stretched.
  9. Connect the laundry box to the lid with Velcro strips. DIY laundry basket complete.

Crocheting a basket is quite simple. Even a child can handle this. But if you knit from ordinary threads, the basket will turn out to be too soft and will not hold its shape. You'll have to starch it and then dry it. You can avoid unnecessary hassle if you use ribbons cut from plastic bags instead of yarn. There are quite a few used packaging bags in every home. Here we will put them into action.
Soft plastic bags of any color, including transparent ones, will do. These can be T-shirt bags with handles, or regular lunch bags. The polyethylene basket holds its shape perfectly and, if necessary, is easy to clean.
First we need to prepare the material from which we will knit the basket. We take a plastic bag, fold it and cut off the strips one by one. approximately one centimeter wide. Each strip will be closed in a ring. We take two rings, insert one into the other, as shown in the photo: the right one will be slipped under the left one. Fold the ring on the right in half and pull its lower part into the upper one. Carefully tighten the knot. Do not pull the tape too tightly, otherwise the polyethylene may tear. It is important to ensure that the knot is exactly in the middle.

We connect all the rings in the same way. To make it easier to knit in the future, we wind the resulting “thread” into a ball.
For knitting it is better to use a thick crochet hook. Size No. 7 will fit. It will take no more than an hour.
First you need to weave a chain of eight air loops, then connect its edges together. To move to the second row, you need to cast on two air loops, and then knit twenty-three double crochets.

In the next row we will add one chain stitch after each double crochet. The knitting should be flat because it will be the bottom of the basket.
Then we knit in the same way, alternating double crochet and air loop, but without adding. Knitting should “grow” from the bottom up. You need to knit three rows. This grid pattern will allow you to make the basket openwork. To make the basket more stable, you can put a circle cut out of cardboard on the bottom.
For the handle we knit a braid of sixteen air loops, which, for strength, we tie with regular stitches.
A basket knitted from plastic bags can be an excellent basis for Easter composition. You can put in it, for example, painted eggs and sweets. Or decorate with flowers.

One of the most popular women's accessories, which our needlewomen knit with their own hands from polyethylene yarn, is a handbag. . It is very easy to make yarn from bags (we will tell you about the technique for making such yarn below), and bags crocheted from it turn out to be very modern, beautiful and durable!

There are different types of garbage bags. One of the parameters that manufacturers indicate on the packaging is the volume of garbage placed in the bag in liters (20L, 30L, 35L, 60L or 120L). The second parameter is density. Bags with higher density are stronger and rougher to the touch.

The higher the density garbage bag, the thinner the thread needs to be cut from it for making bags and rugs. With experience, you will learn to quickly select the appropriate hook for knitting items from such homemade yarn. It is advisable to knit a small sample of fabric before starting work. , from which the product will be formed. It is advisable for beginning knitters to choose plastic garbage bags with a capacity of up to 50 liters. Yarn made from this material is softer and easier to crochet. But do not use plastic bags that are too thin for knitting bags - the product will not hold its shape very well.

2. HOW TO MAKE QUALITY YARN FOR CROCHETING FROM POLYETHYLENE GARBAGE BAGS

If you are going to knit a bag or rug from polyethylene with your own hands for the first time, choose soft matte bags for making yarn.

To form threads, you need to cut strips from bags (the width corresponds to the hook number) and connect them into a single thread. Try to cut strips of equal width so that the surface crocheted the product turned out to be homogeneous;

To speed up the process of making yarn, fold the balls into an even stack (5-7 pieces) and cut the strips with scissors along a ruler, marking the width with a marker;

Having straightened each polyethylene strip, we get a ring;

We connect these rings of strips in one of the following ways:

The first method is to connect all the elements at once into a ball. To do this, place the segment on another, pass it through the ring, stretch it to the sides, forming a knot. Double thread wind it into a ball of yarn;

the second method is a little faster. We fasten each thread after knitting the previous one. That is, the next ring must be passed through the remaining tail.

- straighten the plastic bag and carefully fold it so that the fold is even along the entire length;

Then you can cut off the handles of the bag and the bottom. Cut it into rings approximately 2-5 cm thick;

The edge of one ring must be placed under the edge of the second and a knot must be tied. This is how we form yarn for knitting products. We wind this thread into a ball.

There are creative people who know many ways to arrange plastic bags in such a way that many designers and eminent craftsmen can envy. But most of us only have enough imagination to reuse them. As it turned out, this amazingly pliable material can be used not only for its intended purpose, but also to make very useful and truly exclusive things for your home. And if you still decide to get rid of the accumulated pile of packages, then this interesting master class is definitely for you.

Every home is required to have its own package of... packages that are stored in huge quantities. Well, what if it comes in handy?! And when this bag of bags swells to alarming proportions, we begin to think about where to put them so that it will be useful for business, and we don’t want to pollute the environment at all. It will be very useful for such cases master class on making a simple basket, which will certainly come in handy in the household.

1. Materials and tools

In order to weave a very simple basket, you will need:

Plastic bags;
- scissors;
- sewing needle;
- polyester threads with increased strength;
- a large nail or hook (for ease of weaving).

2. Preparatory work

In order to have “threads” for weaving, you need to prepare it. To do this, each plastic bag must be cut correctly. First we cut off the handles and the bottom, then cut strips 4 cm wide along the bias, without interrupting until the end of the bag.

This should create one long strip. You can cut all the material into such “threads” at once, but it is better to do this in several steps, because you don’t know how many of them you will need, and whether you can make a basket in the allotted time.

3. Weaving technique

In order to weave braids from cut strips, you need to find an anchoring point. To do this, you can simply drive a nail into the side of a bedside table, for example, or a table leg (decide for yourself), you can also use any other base from which you can easily remove the finished “yarn”.

To make a braid, take three strips and fold them in half for strength and volume of the finished product. Having hooked onto the existing fastening, we begin to weave a regular braid. Experts on the site advise you to control the tension of the “thread”; you shouldn’t tighten it too much - it will be very ugly, but you shouldn’t do it too loosely either - you’ll end up with a very loose and unstable basket.

You cannot weave to the very ends, because you will need to tie polyethylene “threads” together for continuity of the process. To do this, at the end of the weaving, we connect each of the three strips with a double knot. Thus, you need to braid the braid until all the bags are gone.

4. Assembling the basket

When the braid is completely ready, begin to twist the free edge in a spiral, into a so-called snail, forming the bottom of the basket. Decide on the diameter yourself, but it’s better not to make it small, because the product will turn out unstable.

Each row of the spiral must be secured to each other using a needle and strong thread. When the base is ready, begin to form the sides.

Now the rest of the braided tape needs to be laid in a circle and each row carefully secured. At the same time, try to control the thread tension so as not to spoil appearance, and the strength of the “structure” itself was not affected.

The remaining free edge must be hidden inside the basket and firmly secured with threads. That's all - a simple basket is ready, which you can use as you wish.

Every person, at least once in his life, is faced with the problem of threading a needle, and it arises not only among amateurs, but also among craftswomen. In order not to suffer for a long time trying to do this, look at one interesting and very effective way, or doing it for the first time.
