We knit a men's jacket with a shawl collar. Knitted men's jacket with shawl collar

The men's shawl collar jacket from Martin Storey is knitted with medium-weight yarn in a textured knitting pattern that folds into geometric square shapes. Designers from Rowan offered a classic style with raglan sleeves and a shawl collar.

The combination of rough yarn, textured knitted fabric and a clear straight silhouette gives the jacket a style characteristic of strong men.

The description offers 8 jacket options in sizes XXS-XS - S-M-L-XL-XXL-2XL. Accordingly, their chest circumference will be 91-97-102-107-112-117-122-127 cm.

Author's choice of yarn - Rowan Hemp Tweed Chunky (100 g/110 m). This is a modern find when plant fibers are added to the wool thread. IN in this case This is a hemp increase, and it is very significant - 25%; the remaining 75% comes from sheep's wool.

Hemp prevents the product from stretching, gives it strength and extends the period of effective wear. The product turns out warm, good quality, with an interesting tweed effect. Yarn consumption is expected to be in the range of 8-9-10-11-11-12-12-13 skeins.

Tools - circular knitting needles, 6 mm, for elastic and collar - 5½ mm. Button closure, you need to prepare 5 of them.

To work out the required density, we will knit a sample with a shadow pattern, and at the same time we will understand it until it is completely clear:

6 mm needles - 24 straight rows (spr) of 15 stitches (st) should give a square of 10 x 10 cm.

Description

The jacket consists of 5 parts, each of them is knitted separately.

Pattern

Pattern diagram

Since the sleeve is raglan, the decreases for the armhole are carried out due to the raglan lines.

The collar, together with the front panels, is knitted at the assembly stage.

All border elastic bands and the collar with straps are knitted with narrower needles, 5½ mm; The body of the jacket with a shadow pattern will be made on basic knitting needles, 6 mm thick.

The squares marked black dot, denote knit stitches (lcpt) in the purl row (IR), and purl stitches (izpt) in the front row (LR).

The diagram shows in one picture how to place the pattern for all parts of the jacket. There is also a gradation in size. Having chosen the option that you need, carefully monitor it when knitting the back, front panels and sleeves.

Back

We will start it with an elastic band, from the bottom. Take knitting needles 5½ mm, cast on 70 pt.

We knit a strip of 8 cm with a 2x2 elastic band (2 lts; 2 izpts). In the final row of elastic we add 0 pts = 70 pts on the sides of the fabric.

Having finished with the elastic, we change the knitting needles to the main ones (6 mm) and perform 2 stitches in stockinette stitch (k/s), after which we proceed to the shadow pattern.

Having knitted straight up to 34 cm from the edge, we come to the lower end of the armholes.

Sd.prr: close 3 pt; Let's continue following the drawing until the end of the project.

Sld.prr: Let's do the same.

Now let's change the nature of the decrease in pt. We will decrease by 1 pt on the sides of the canvas, while retreating from the very edge by 2 pt:

Decreasing 1 pt at the beginning of the stitch is done by pulling PRT = (we will remove 1 pt, without knitting, to the front one; perform 1 ltst and pull it through the removed stitch);

We decrease 1 pt at the end of the stitch by knitting 2 pts together with one knit stitch.

Sld.prr (IR): we perform 3 izpt at the beginning and at the end of the prr, we do not change the pattern inside, we subtract 1 pt each, as described.

We repeat such prr with decreases in this order:

4 times, in every 4th prr = 54 pt;

Then we begin to decrease twice as often, in every 2nd stitch, waiting until there are 20 stitches on the needles. Let's put them aside, these are the stitches of the neckline for the back.

Left shelf

Let's start it from the bottom too, with an elastic band. Let's take thinner knitting needles, 5½ mm, cast on 35 pt.

We knit a 2x2 strip of 8 cm with an elastic band. Make sure that at the end of the first prr (LR) there are 3 lcpt, and at the beginning of the second (IR) - 1 lcpt; 2 izpt.

In the last row of the strip knitted with an elastic band, we align the number of stitches for the pattern to 35 and change the knitting needles to basic ones, 6 mm. Then we knit it like a back, all the way to the armhole. We make decreases for raglan in the same way, only for one side.

By decreasing 30 pt on the knitting needles, we will take care of the neckline. Let's start decreasing 1 pt from the side opposite the raglan, according to this pattern.

Sld.prr (LR):

Subtract 1 pt a total of 8 times, in every 4th row;

At the same time, we decrease 1 pt in the raglan line, on the other side:

3 times, in every 4th prr;

12 times, in every 2nd prr.

Sld.prr (LR): 2 lcpt; PRT.

Sld.prr (IR): 3 izpt.

Sld.prr: 1 lcpt; PRT.

Sld.prr: 1 izpt.

Sl.prr: knit 2 stitches together, this will be the last stitch.

Cut the thread and fasten it.

The right front is knitted absolutely symmetrically.

Sleeve, 2 parts

Let's start from the bottom, with the same elastic band. Take knitting needles 5½ mm, cast on 34 pt.

We knit a 2x2 strip of 8 cm with an elastic band. In the last, 8th stitch, add 0 pt on the sides, after that we change the needles to the main ones, 6 mm.

Let's knit 2 stitches with the knit/ch pattern. Then we move on to the shadow pattern, starting it, as shown in the diagram, from the 7th row. We will repeat the rt rapport of 24 rows along the entire sleeve.

We perform this operation of additions in every 6th row, counting stitches on the knitting needles.

When their number is equal to 38, we will begin to add less frequently, in every 8th row, until the number of sts on the needles is 52.

Having reached a height of 41 cm from the edge of the initial one, we begin to decrease pt.

Sd.prr: 3 pt close; we will tie it to the end according to the drawing.

1 time in the 3rd prr;

Then in every 4th stitch until we see 32 stitches on the needles;

Then in every 2nd stitch, until we see only 10 stitches on the needles.

Only for left sleeve

Sd LR: decrease 1 pt along the edges of the canvas.

Sd LR: close 3 pt; knit the remaining 5 stitches.

2 lcpt; Slip off 1 st and knit it like a knit stitch;

We knit 2 stitches together and stretch the received stitch through the removed stitch.

Sd prr: knit 2 sts together purlwise; 1 izpt.

Only for right sleeve

Sd.prr: close 2 pt; knit according to the pattern; subtract 1 pt at the end of the row.

Sld.prr: knit according to the pattern; subtract 1 pt at the end of the row.

Sl.prr: 3 pts knitted together with one knit stitch; 2 lcpt.

Sld.prr: 1 izpt; We knit 2 stitches together purlwise, catching the back walls.

For left and right sleeves

Sld.prr: knit 2 stitches together, secure the last stitch.

Assembly

Let's walk along the lines of the raglan and make all the necessary seams. Now we will connect the shelves together with the collar.

Let's take 5½ mm knitting needles, turn the fabric to the right side and gradually raise stitches, walking along the edge of the shelves, starting from the bottom, along the back neck line, including the postponed stitches, and further, down the second shelf = 210 sts.

Starting from the 2nd row, we knit a strip of 2x2 elastic, as for the back. Then we knit like this.

1st prr (LR):

Knit with an elastic band 2x2 120 pt;

Let’s turn it around and make 1 yarn over on the right needle (we will do it at every turn; to avoid getting a hole in this place, you will have to knit the yarn over together with the stitch that follows it).

2nd prr: knit with a 30 pt elastic band, turn.

3rd prr: knit with a 32 pt elastic band, turn.

Let's continue by analogy, each time adding 2 stitches more to the working needles than the previous time. Finally, we get 94 pt in the work.

Sld.prr: let's turn the knitting, in the 35th row we will knit with an elastic band until the end.

It's time to create buttonholes.

We knit with a 2x2 elastic band up to 58 pts in the remainder;

- * close 2 pt; knit with an elastic band of 11 pt *; execute *-* 3 more times;

Close 2 pt; Let's finish pr.

In sld.prr we will perform 2 pt new stitches over closed loops, restoring order.

Let's tie 2 prr with a 2x2 elastic band.

Let's close the pt according to the drawing.

All that remains is to complete the side and sleeve seams.

Description of knitting a men's jacket

Back and shelves
On circular knitting needles No. 6, cast on (112) 124 (136) 148 (160) sts, knit in straight and reverse rows of 7 cm with a 2x2 elastic band, starting from the purl row: 1 edge. p., 2 p. n., *2 persons. p., 2 p. p.*, repeat *-*. On the last row of rib, reduce the number of stitches evenly to (103) 115 (127) 139 (149) sts.

Then change to size 7 needles and knit in a cable pattern, starting with the faces. row, as follows: 1 chrome. p., (5) 7 (7) 7 (8) p. persons. smooth, braid, (67) 75 (87) 99 (107) stitches. satin stitch, braid, (5) 7 (7) 7 (8) p. knits., 1 chrome, p. Knit in this way until the work height is 25 cm.

Next, start knitting the bevels of the V-neckline on both sides. To do this, knit in the following persons. row: 1 chrome. p., 2 p. knit together, then knit loops according to the pattern until 3 p. remain - knit 2 p. knit together. broach (= remove 1 stitch as knit, knit 1 knit stitch and pull it through the removed loop), 1 chrome. p. Repeat decreases at intervals of (8) 8 (8) 8 (7) cm for a total of (5) 5 (5) 5 (6) times.

Attention! At the same time, at a work height of 45 cm (after performing the 3rd decrease for the neckline), close the loops for the armholes on both sides as follows: knit (19) 21 (24) 27 (29) sts, bind off (5) 6 (6 ) 6 (7) p., knit (49) 55 (61) 67 (71) p., bind off (5) 6 (6) 6 (7) p., knit (19) 21 (24) 27 (29) p. Next, knit each piece separately.

Back
Continue knitting faces. stitch, decreasing for armholes on both sides in every 2nd row (1.1) 1.1 (2.1) 2.1.1 (2.1.1) p. = (45) 51 (55) 59 (63) p. At the height of the armhole (20) 21 (22) 23 (24) cm for the neckline, close the middle (15) 17 (17) 17 (19) p. and then knit each side separately.

To bevel the sleeves, close the side in each row (7.8) 8.9 (9.10) 10.11 (11.11) sts. Tie the other side of the neckline symmetrically.

Shelf
Knit the loops according to the pattern, knitting the armhole on the side in the same way as the back and at the same time continuing to decrease on the inside for the neckline bevel - (15) 17 (19) 21 (22) p. Knit the shoulder bevel similarly to the back and at the same height. Tie the other shelf symmetrically.

Sleeves
On circular needles No. 6, cast on (32) 36 (36) 40 (40) sts, knit in a 7 cm round with a 2×2 rib. Then change the needles to number 7 and knit. stitch, evenly changing the number of loops in the first row to (32) 36 (38) 40 (40) sts.

Make a mark between the 1st and last stitches of the row. At a height of (8)8(8)7(7) cm, add 1 stitch on both sides of the mark. Repeat the increases every (4) 4 (4)3 (3.5) cm for a total of (10) 10 ( 10) 11 (12) times = (52) 56 (58) 62 (64) p.

At a working height of 49 cm (or other desired height), close the middle (6) 6 (6) 8 (8) l from the inside. and then knit in straight and reverse rows, decreasing 3 stitches at the beginning of each row (knit 12 rows in total). Cast off the remaining (10) 14 (16) 18 (20) sleeve stitches in one go.

Assembly
Sew shoulder seams.
For the strap, evenly cast on needles No. 6 for (92) 94 (96) 98 (101) sts from each shelf and (22) 26 (26) 26 (28) sts along the edge of the neckline, the number of loops should be a multiple of 4+ 2. Knit 12 cm with 2×2 ribbing, starting with a purl row: purl 2. n., *2 persons. p., 2 p. p.*, repeat *-* until the end of the row.

At the same time, at a height of 3 cm on the left placket, knit 3 buttonholes: the top one at the level of the beginning of the neckline bevel, the bottom one - approximately 4 stitches from the bottom edge, the third - in the middle between them. For each loop, cast off 2 stitches and in the next row, at this point, cast on new 3 stitches. At a placket height of 9.5 cm, knit 3 more buttonholes in the same way.
Close the loops according to the drawing. Sew in the sleeves. Sew on the buttons.

Patterns and schemes

Rubber

Alternately knit 2, purl 2.

Facial surface

Facial rows - facial loops, purl rows - purl loops.

Jacquard pattern

Knit using the intarsia technique according to the given pattern in rows in forward and reverse directions. Persons rows read from right to left, purl. rows - from left to right.

The diagram shows all the rows of the pattern. 1 square = 1 p. x 1 p. Color distribution - see Legend.

To prevent holes from forming in the knitted fabric when changing threads, cross the threads on the wrong side of the work. Repeat 16 stitches of repeat between arrows in width, ending with a loop after the 2nd arrow.

Decorative reductions

From the right edge: chrome, knit 2 stitches together;
from the left edge: knit 2 p. together with a tilt to the left = 1 p. remove, as in knitting, knit the next loop. and pull the removed loop through the knitted one.

Double loop when knitting in short rows
Knit the loops of the row to the place indicated in the instructions, turn. For a double loop, lay the thread before work, insert the knitting needle from right to left into the 1st stitch, and transfer this loop and the thread lying in front of the knitting needle to the right knitting needle. Pull the thread back (so that there is no hole) = double loop on the right needle.

Knitting density: 16 p. x 24 p. = 10 x 10 cm, knitted with stockinette stitch.

Attention!

The product is knitted from the bottom edge to the armholes in a single fabric.

Pattern

Getting the job done

Back and shelves

Cast on 172 (188) 204 sts with olive thread and knit with an elastic band, with 1st purl. row after chrome start with 2 p. and 2 persons., finish the row symmetrically.

After 5 cm = 13 r. continue working with olive thread in stockinette stitch, while in the 1st row. evenly add 7 p. = 179 (195) 211 p.

After 20 cm = 48 r. start knitting a jacquard pattern with stockinette stitch: chrome, repeat 11 (12) 13 times, finish with a loop after repeat and chrome.

In the 43rd r. jacquard pattern decrease with decorative decreases on both sides to form a neckline of 1 p.

After the 47th r. jacquard pattern knit purl. Purl row with olive thread, then divide the loops as follows: 44 (48) 52 stitches for the left front, 89 (97) 105 stitches for the back and 44 (48) 52 stitches for the right front.

Leave the front loops temporarily and continue knitting on the back loops.

Back

For armholes, reduce with decorative decreases on both sides in every 2nd r. 8 (9) 10 times 1 p. = 73 (79) 85 p.

After 26 (27) 28 cm = 62 (64) 68 r. from the beginning of separate knitting, close on both sides for shoulder bevels, 8 sts, then in every 2nd r. 2 more times 7 (8) 9 p.

Simultaneously with the 2nd decrease, close off the middle 23 (25) 27 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately.

To round the neckline, close from the inner edge in the next 2nd r. 3 sts = all stitches used.

Finish the second side symmetrically.

Left shelf

44 (48) 52 sts, transfer fronts to working needles and knit in stockinette stitch with olive thread.

For the armhole, decrease with decorative decreases from the right edge in every 2nd r. 8 (9) 10 times 1 p. = 36 (39) 42 p.

At the same time, from the left edge, reduce with decorative decreases to bevel the neckline in the 2nd row. 1 p., then alternately in every 4th and every 6th p. another 8 (8) 6 times 1 p. and in every 4th p. another 5 (6) 9 times 1 p. = 22 (24) 26 p.

Right shelf

Knit like the left front, but in a mirror image.

Sleeves
Cast on 42 (46) 50 sts with olive thread and knit with an elastic band, with the 1st purl. row after chrome start with 1 purl. and 2 persons., finish the row symmetrically.

After 5 cm = 13 r. continue working with olive thread in stockinette stitch, while in the 1st row. add 1 p. = 43 (47) 51 p.

At 8 p.m. from the elastic band add 1 p. on both sides, then in every 6th r. 14 more times, 1 p. = 73 (77) 81 p.

At the same time after 20 cm = 48 r. start knitting a jacquard pattern with stockinette stitch: chrome, 3 (5) 7 stitches before the 2nd arrow, repeat repeat 3 times, finish 4 (6) 8 stitches after the 1st arrow, chrome. = 57 (61) 65 p. in 49 r.

After the 47th r. jacquard pattern Purl a row with olive thread and begin to form an okat: decrease with decorative decreases on both sides by 1 p., in every 2nd p. another 19 (20) 21 times for 1 p. and close 2 more times for 3 p. and 1 time for 4 p.

In the next persons. row, bind off remaining 13 (15) 17 sts.

Knit the second sleeve in the same way.

Pockets

For each pocket, cast on 18 sts with olive thread and knit in stockinette stitch.

After 9 cm from the cast-on row, continue working with an elastic band, and after edging. start with 1st person. and purl 2, finish the row symmetrically. After 3 cm from the beginning of the elastic band, close the loops.

Knit the second pocket in the same way.

Assembly

Pin the details onto the pattern, moisten and leave until dry.

Sew shoulder seams.

For stripes and a shawl collar knitted with them, dial along the straight edges of the shelves along
73 p., along the bevels of the V-neck 63 (65) 67 p. and along the edge of the back neckline 36 (40) 44 p. =
308 (316) 324 p.

Knit with rubber, with 1st purl. row start after chrome. with 2 p. and 2 persons., finish the row symmetrically.

At 7 p.m. (= purl row) on the punk of the left front make 4 holes for buttons: edge, purl 2, * 1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches together, 14 stitches according to the pattern, from * repeat 3 times, 1 yarn over, Knit 2 sts together, knit until the end of the row according to the pattern.

In the next row, purl the yarn overs.

At 10 p.m. (= knit row) start knitting a shawl collar in short rows: knit 235 (243) 251 p. according to the pattern, use a double loop to turn and knit 159 (167) 175 p. in the opposite direction, using double thread turn and knit 156 (164) 172 stitches in the opposite direction.

Knit according to this principle, shortening each row first 22 times by 3 sts, then another 6 times by 5 sts.

Next persons. knit the row to the end, while knitting the double loops together.

On all 308 (316) 324 p. perform 3 more p. and then close the loops.

Sew the pockets above the bottom elastic at a distance of 7 (8) 9 cm from the fastener strips.

Sew the sleeve seams. Sew in the sleeves. Sew buttons.
