Knitting an elastic band in the round makes it easy to change the color of the yarn in any row. Weaving yarn strands should be done with inside knitting, leave a non-working thread there when knitting in two colors.
When calculating loops for circular knitting, you need to be especially careful so that when closed in a circle, the number of loops creates the intended pattern.
So for circular knitting of 1x1 elastic, the number of loops must be a multiple of 2, and for knitting 2x2 elastic on circular knitting needles, the number of loops must be a multiple of 4, see the diagrams of elastic bands for circular knitting.
Using the same principle, loops for 3x3 and 4x4 elastic bands are calculated, that is, for a 3x3 elastic band the report will be = 6 loops, and for a 4x4 elastic band = 8 loops. Then, having closed into a ring, the elastic band will have a holistic appearance of the pattern.
Similar to 1 x 1 elastic, but fluffier English gum. To knit an English elastic band in a circle, follow this pattern:
1st row: knit 1, purl 1, or immediately remove 1 double crochet loop and purl 1 loop;

A double elastic band in a circle is similar in appearance to a 1x1 elastic band. Its distinctive feature from other types of elastic bands is the cavity between the layers of elastic. The number of loops for the elastic band should be a multiple of 2. Be sure to mark the beginning of the row with a marker so as not to go astray from the knitting pattern.
The elastic pattern is quite simple: row 1 - knit with a 1x1 elastic band; 2nd row: remove 1 front, 1 purl without knitting, with the working thread in front of the purl loop; 3rd row: purl 1, knit 1 without knitting, thread behind knit stitch. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows of the pattern until the desired elastic length is reached. To make a two-color elastic band, the color of the yarn must be changed in each row. Then the front side of the elastic will be one color, and the inside of it will be another.
The Estonian spiral elastic band is a bit like a 2x2 elastic band twisted into a spiral. The number of loops for knitting this pattern is a multiple of 6. The pattern is very simple: knit 2, yarn over 1, knit 2, knit 2 together, and so on, in a circle. To make multi-colored diamonds appear on the pattern, it is enough to change the color of the yarn every 4 rows, see the diagram of the “Estonian spiral” pattern. Types of knitting elastic bands
There are several types of elastic - English, Polish, French, double and simple pattern. To make these elastic bands, you need to take knitting needles the size of the yarn or 1.5 times larger. Also, an item made using this method should not be steamed or ironed, otherwise it will lose its volume.
The most common elastic bands are English and simple patterns.
A simple pattern for knitting retin with knitting needles
The pattern is made by repeating the main loops; it is used in most cases when the element is adjacent to the body, for example, socks, stockings, etc. You also need to select yarn: wool makes the item more elastic, while cotton makes the item, on the contrary, flat.

When choosing an elastic band, you need to look at the dimensions of the knitted item: a large one looks good on large ones, and a 1x1 elastic band on small ones.
English gum
Outwardly it looks like a pearl. When performing, the main loops are also double crochet. You will need an odd number of loops. With the end of the right knitting needle we take the thread towards us, remove it and the thread goes to work, knitting. Then there is a repeat, only we finally pick up 2. Then knit 2, yarn over and remove one.

The thread is thrown on, 2 loops are thrown onto the opposite knitting needle, 2 knit stitches. At the end, the thread goes back on itself and 2 are picked up without changing. Knit stitches go along the entire row, the connection is made with a yarn over and a loop of the previous link, the next one with a yarn over, the pair is discarded. At the end, 1 double crochet and 1 without. A rapport is used on another knitting needle, the thread is worked on itself, a pair of discarded buttonholes, 1 knit stitch and 1 more similar one are combined together with the yarn over. The end of the link goes as in case 2, and then goes the other way around.
Double elastic knitting
It is used in cases where the shape and base must be maintained, because it has a fabric folded in half and is made according to the following principle: the cast-on loops are divided into 4, keeping in mind the edge loops. Polish gum
It is used more in knitting things for babies and scarves, because has lightness and airiness. The first row is not mandatory, it’s just that with this method the bottom of the product will be more elastic. If you wish, you can start knitting immediately from the second row.
This pattern is used to knit the bottom of the product and the bottom of the sleeves. In this case, when moving to the main pattern, first reduce the number of loops by half, knitting loops in pairs. Accordingly, the number of loops to be cast on for double elastic should be 2 times greater, but knitting needles for knitting elastic should be taken a number smaller than those on which you will knit the main fabric. To close the loops of a double elastic band, they are also taken in two.
The scar turns out to be quite thick. If you want the end of the knit to be soft and stretchy, sew the front and back of the knit together using a knit stitch.

Italian method of casting on loops using an auxiliary thread. This pattern can be used to knit jumpers for children and adults, and is also often used to knit children's skirts. It is not suitable for cuffs and collars, since the fabric is quite loose, but a snood or a hat can be knitted with it.
