Snowflake is one of the main elements New Year's decor. They are in one form or another in almost every home: paper, plastic, cotton, painted. I suggest you look at things outside the box and make snowflakes from pasta with your own hands. Dry dough is a durable, dense material that lasts a long time and does not rot, so it is great for various kinds of crafts.

How to do New Year's snowflakes DIY pasta

The idea is to use curly pasta for various crafts was born relatively recently. This is due, first of all, to the active development of the food industry. In a competitive environment, manufacturers began to attract consumers not only with taste, but also appearance product. This is how pasta appeared in the form of leaves, stars, curls, bows, etc. It's a pity to even eat such beauty. Let's look at food through the eyes of a decorator and make it not a dinner, but an original holiday decoration.

You will need pasta of various shapes, you don’t have to buy everything that is on store shelves, 3-5 types will be enough. I suggest using:

  • two types of shells (larger and smaller);
  • spirals;
  • wheels;
  • horns.

We take a board (so as not to smear the table when we glue the pasta) and begin to lay out various shapes. This is a rather exciting activity, akin to assembling a construction set - there is a certain standard set of elements from which you can make anything. For children it will be not only interesting, but also useful. Such activities help develop imagination, spatial thinking and fine motor skills. Experiment, try different combinations, in the end you will definitely be able to create a unique and inimitable snowflake from pasta with your own hands.

We will glue all the elements super glue, you can also use a silicone gun or any polymer glue. It is important for us that it sets quickly and does not stink. When the product is completely dry, paint it with gouache.

There is no need to buy a whole set; small jars are also sold individually. When choosing a color, be guided not only by your own taste, but also by the interior you will decorate. Win-win option– white, it suits the New Year’s theme and goes with everything.

We will need:

Pasta different forms;
- Glue (I used “Moment”);
- Acrylic paints;
- Brush;
- Christmas decoration"Rain";
- Salt (fine or coarse, maybe sugar, whatever your heart desires. I used fine salt);
- Hairspray with glitter;

So let's begin.

I put the pasta on a plate for convenience.

To begin with, let's set up a workplace; I put a regular A3 sheet on the table to protect the table from glue and paint.

Now we need to come up with the shapes of our snowflakes, to do this we lay out the noodles on a sheet of paper and put them in the required shapes, while we need to immediately think about how to glue them together, because not every idea can be brought to life, the form may simply fall apart or when gluing you will find something to glue It’s impossible, you’ll have to come up with something new on the fly.

Well, we’ve come up with a shape, and we’re starting to glue it together. I chose Moment glue, since, in my opinion, it would cope better with the task. First we glue the inner circle of our snowflakes and leave them to dry and strengthen. When the noodles get stronger and stick together, glue the next circle and so on.

When the snowflakes are glued together, leave them to dry and harden for a day.

Well, time has passed, the glue has dried and glued the noodles together, now it’s time to start painting. I chose acrylic paints; gouache is not suitable for us, as it takes longer to dry and can crack if applied thickly.

Color the snowflakes white for realism, but you can experiment and make it golden or silver, well, your imagination will tell you.
I covered it with paint once, but it wasn’t pretty yet, the paint flowed into the recesses, but the bulges were not painted. Painting with a brush is very difficult, you need to take a brush the right size, so that it can penetrate into all the holes and paint there, while at the same time it is difficult to paint over the main surface with a very thin brush. In general, it didn’t turn out so neatly; the noodles weren’t painted inside,

but there’s no better time to paint it, I didn’t bother with water for a long time either, in case it gets soggy, it’s still noodles. Nowadays there are a lot of all kinds of accessories for creativity, it might be better to take some kind of spray paint, or paint is sold in cans. I’m not very good at this, so I suffered the old fashioned way. We wait until the first layer has dried, we tie any rope to hang it to dry, then we will cut it and tie it on a beautiful one.

Now we cover it with a second layer, and while the paint is not dry, sprinkle salt over the entire surface, front and back.

Hang it somewhere to dry

I hung all the cabinets in the kitchen, fortunately the handles allow

Snowflakes also take quite a long time to dry, so as not to spoil such painstaking work, we are not in a hurry.
Now carefully remove our ropes.
You can simply tie a “rain” to each snowflake and hang it on the Christmas tree, but I decided to make a composition from my five different snowflakes. I took “Rain” and this Christmas tree decoration, I don’t even know what to call it, like a garland.

At the end I made a loop by simply twisting the balls

Spread it out on the table

Now let’s try on how our snowflakes will hang on the garland, arrange them at the required distance from each other and from the garland

New Year's crafts for snowflakes made from pasta are popular among mothers who love to create something with their children.

Dry dough is an amazingly durable material, has a dense structure and can be stored for a long time, and these qualities are ideal for any craft, especially for voluminous pasta snowflakes.

Even one trip to the store is enough to find pasta of various shapes - curls and spirals, stars, bows, petals, shells, tubes, and their cost is not high.

Many people ask how to glue pasta snowflakes. This can be done with any durable and quick-drying glue, for example, “Moment”. It should have a long spout so that you don’t have to glue each pasta, but glue it together by pouring glue directly between the pasta on the laid out template.

And, by the way, the glue gun is very popular among needlewomen; we already wrote about the principle of working with it in the master class.

For creativity you will need:

  • various curly pasta
  • strong glue or glue gun
  • PVA glue
  • glue brush
  • acrylic paint or gouache
  • glitter or hairspray with glitter
  • optional fine salt, gold or silver paint

Pour shaped pasta into different plates (each plate has a certain shape of pasta), place newspaper or oilcloth on the table (to prevent drops of glue from getting on the tabletop). We decide on the shape of the future snowflake, and here we lay out its blank on the newspaper, then we glue each pasta with the next one (it’s better to glue it with transparent glue). IMPORTANT: you should glue starting strictly from the inside of the product, otherwise the snowflake will turn out to be very fragile and will simply collapse at the slightest touch. After you have prepared the required number of creative snowflakes, leave them to dry in a warm place for 24 hours.

Enamel painting. It is better to purchase odorless mother-of-pearl enamel, then it is quite possible to carry out the painting process in a living room. So, we place the product on a piece of cardboard, take an art brush, and carefully paint each section of the snowflake, wait for the surface to dry completely, turn it over, and do the same procedure with reverse side.

Painting with a spray can. We go outside to paint, otherwise you will have to ventilate the room for a long time from the strong smell of paint. We thread a thread into one of the rings of the product and hang it on a branch, after which we cover first one side with spray paint, then the other, and leave the snowflakes to dry. The next method: place a wonderful snowflake on a piece of cardboard, spray paint the front side, wait for the paint to dry completely, turn the product over and paint the other side, leave until completely dry. After which you can proceed to the additional decorative part, for example, cover the snowflakes with a layer of PVA glue and sprinkle artificial snow on top.

Paint the finished snowflakes with paint with a gloss effect; gold or silver is perfect.

What to do if there is no artificial snow?

Friends, the main thing is not to despair, artificial snow can be replaced with: powdered sugar, just sugar, fine salt, white glitter sand, semolina. Let's consider decorating a snowflake using semolina: paint on the prepared snowflake with PVA glue matching patterns(it’s better to take the glue in a bottle with a dispenser spout), then place the snowflake on a wide plate, and generously sprinkle the patterns with semolina mixed with white sand glitter, remove the excess grain with a blow. Leave the product to dry for about 12 hours.

Do not overdo it with the amount of glitter sand, it is better to apply a small amount, then the effect will be much more pleasant.

✔ Small bows look great on such snowflakes; beautiful bows are made using the most ordinary table fork.

✔ Rhinestones are an excellent material for almost any decor, and in the case of snowflakes they will be absolutely appropriate. Rhinestones should be glued with transparent glue; they can be randomly scattered over the surface of the product or laid out with cute flowers, stars, circles, etc.

✔ A simple packing tape can significantly bring life to a pasta snowflake, just tie the tape at the base of the pendant (where the rope is attached), then run the blade of a knife or scissors along the line of the tape, as a result we will get a beautiful ribbon wave.

✔ Beads of different sizes can also serve as a magnificent decoration for a decorative snowflake. We select beads that are suitable in size and shade and glue them to the surface of the product using instant glue.

✔ Glitter sand. We cover the improvised snowflake with a layer of PVA glue, and sprinkle glitter sand on top (do not use a lot of glitter, a subtle shimmer looks much better).

Decorate the finished product with small and large rhinestones; when exposed to light, their edges will sparkle and shimmer effectively.

Hello, dear readers! We are all accustomed to traditionally making New Year's snowflakes from paper or napkins, but today I want to move away from using such generally accepted materials and bring to your attention a selection of photos of snowflakes created from the most ordinary pasta! These snowflakes will serve as spectacular, voluminous pendants that can be used to decorate a Christmas tree, windows, wall lamps, etc.

How to make snowflakes from pasta.

To work you will need:

✓Pasta of various shapes;

✓Transparent glue, it’s better to take “Moment”;

✓White, silver, gold or blue paint in cans (acrylic paints can be used as an alternative);

✓Ribbons, chains, bows, beads, rhinestones, sparkles, artificial snow. Instead of snow, you can use salt, sugar or semolina (you can see how to decorate a vase with semolina here);

✓PVA glue and brush.

Let's get started... We pour the selected pasta onto different plates, cover the table with newspaper or paper, come up with the shape of a future snowflake from pasta (above and below are photos of various shapes of pasta snowflakes, you can take them as a basis). So, having come up with the shape of a snowflake, we lay out the pasta in the required order on the table surface, after which we glue all the parts together with transparent glue (and it’s better to start gluing from the inner circle of the product, otherwise the snowflake will turn out to be very fragile). After gluing all the parts, the finished pasta snowflakes should be left for about a day until completely dry.

When the pasta snowflakes are completely dry, you can start the decorative part, namely painting... Take a can of paint you like, for example, white, go out into the fresh air, carefully paint the product. There are several ways to color pasta snowflakes:

  1. In limbo. We thread a thread into the hole of the snowflake, hang the product on a stretched rope and begin to spray paint from a can.
  2. In a supine position. We place the snowflake on an unnecessary tray or cardboard, go out into the fresh air and paint one side first with a spray can, wait for the paint to dry, turn the product over - paint the second side, as well as the sides of the snowflake.
  3. If you decide to use acrylic paint, then stock up on brushes of different sizes so that they can easily paint hard-to-reach areas of the product.
  4. If you decide to use gouache, be prepared for the fact that the product will take a very long time to dry, and as a result may even crack.

So, having decided on the coloring method and having painted the product, we wait for the snowflakes to dry and proceed to the next decorative stage - decoration... We cover the pasta snowflakes with a layer of PVA glue, and immediately sprinkle them with glitter, artificial snow, sugar, salt or semolina ( one of the above or successfully combining several types of sounded powders). Finally, the product can be decorated with a ribbon, bow, rhinestones or beads, and of course, do not forget to thread a fishing line or string.
