A hat for a girl made from a T-shirt. We sew a fashionable knitted hat

The one shown probably relates more to sewing, but is intended for knitted hats.

I line the linings in a variety of ways, but mostly fleece. A knitted T-shirt is also used here. The shape somehow came about by itself during the process. So maybe it will be useful to someone. Using the “Exciting” cap as an example -

The lining is very easy to make, as there is no need to create a pattern. But it is only feasible if it is possible to do a fitting while working, ideally on a mannequin of exactly the right size (on a head and a ball it is more difficult). Since knitwear stretches, some flaws in the lines will be invisible.

1) Take any T-shirt/T-shirt of a suitable composition and color and with a flat bottom. I have an adult one, but the children’s one is even better, since the width is closer to the cap. Lay it out on the table, inside out. From the bottom edge we draw upward a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the half-circumference of the head (it is better to subtract half a centimeter for a tighter fit), and the width is equal to the height of the head minus half a centimeter (to move slightly away from the edge of the hat and increase the tension of the fabric).

2) Cut out a rectangle (two layers at once) adding seam allowances. Sew along the edges. I finished the edges with a zigzag stitch on a machine. If you sew by hand, you need to take into account that the seam will be cut later, so it is best to use an overcast buttonhole stitch (with knots on each stitch).

3) I do not have special equipment and devices for processing knitwear. Therefore, at all seams, to avoid stretching the fabric with stitching, I placed newspaper under the canvas.

4) Then she tore it off and pulled out the remaining paper (arrow) by hand. The procedure is tedious, but the goal justifies it. By the way, in order for a wide seam to pull the fabric across less, you sew along the line BEFORE cutting the fabric, and then trim off the excess close to the seam.

5-6) We put the resulting bag on the mannequin, with the seams facing out. We fold the fabric to the side of the corner (first photo) so that the seams go along the center of the resulting triangle. And we make a basting stitch, getting as close to the head as possible. The smoother the line goes to the central part of the lining, the less the ends of the darts will stand out on the finished product.

7) Of course, it is better to mark two corners at once so that there are no distortions in the fabric, and then trim off the excess, taking into account the seam allowances, and stitch the edges of the fabric (arrows mark the finished seams in the photo). But mine came out asymmetrically (first photo).

8) So I stitched the first corner and cut off the excess. Then I laid the lining out on the table, aligning the second corner so that the seams aligned in the center of the resulting triangle. I placed a cut piece of canvas on top of the corner and drew a line (arrow). You need to cut the fabric along it, since the seam allowance is already taken into account here. All that remains is to stitch along the edge.

9-10) Finished lining before and after ironing/steaming. The fit on the head is quite good and the seams are not visible. The side seams go in front of the ears, so there should be no pressure.

11) To sew into the hat, we put the lining with the front side to the head, and the back side (with seams) to the knitted fabric.

12) We prick it with needles at the edge, evenly distributing it in a circle. It is very convenient to turn the hat with the lining outward - the fabric will be stretched over the knitted fabric and in this form it is much more convenient to sew. But keep in mind that you need to retreat less from the edge of the cap than it would in this position. About three millimeters so that the lining is not visible from the outside. I sewed it by hand with double sewing thread and a sharp needle - picking up the edge of the lining and the wrong parts of the hat stitches.

If the ears on the hat are all-knitted, then sew the lining along them along the outer row of the cap of the hat (that is, along a straight line). Don’t worry that there is no lining on the ears themselves (if the yarn is not scratchy) - the ears are already sufficiently insulated. But there is no hassle with folding the fabric at the bottom of the hat. Since the problem is not only in carefully tucking the fabric to avoid unraveling, the fabric allowance inside the hat may curl up, especially when washed.

Pysy: I’ll explain, in case a question arises. The ties in this hat come from the edge of the cap, and not from the tip of the ear, so as not to pull out the decor in the form of hearts.

So simple, but not easy - hats for kids).MK.

These tutorials will show you how to sew a hat from cotton T-shirt fabric. If you have a new T-shirt lying around and don’t know what to do with it, then this option is the most suitable. If there is no T-shirt, then when choosing fabric in the store, make sure that it is completely natural.

Option No. 1 - hat with knots:

1. Prepare a T-shirt (fabric), a sewing machine, preferably an overlocker, a measuring tape, and scissors.
2. Copy and print the patterns for hats with one and/or two knots. Using a measuring tape, measure the circumference of your baby's head and, if necessary, adjust the pattern if it is too big or small
3. Using an overlocker, join the parts of the hat (just do not sew up the bottom edge through which the hat fits on the head). Finish the bottom edge in a circular pattern using an overlocker. Be very careful not to stretch the fabric, otherwise the edges will turn out wavy.
If you don’t have an overlocker, you can zigzag the edges of the cap. To do this, first, stepping back from the edge 0.5 cm, lay a regular stitch, and then finish the edge with a zigzag stitch. In this case, you also need to be very careful not to stretch the edges when processing them.

4. Turn the bottom edge about 5-6 cm, pin it, and then sew it on a machine.

5. All that remains is to tie knots, which you can use to adjust the size of the hat in height

Option No. 2 - a simple hat:

1.

2.1 inch = 2.5cm
Fold the fabric in half. Attach a sample, outline, cut out, leaving 8mm. around the edges. Please note that the finished hat is 12.5cm in height, so the cutout is 10cm. Or we use a pattern, having decided on the dimensions (half head circumference + additional freedom).

In addition to the hat itself, we cut out a rectangular piece of fabric measuring 14x35cm
We take into account the stretch direction of the fabric.
Fold the two halves of the cap together and stitch on the right side, leaving an 8mm margin. Then, fold the rectangular piece in half and stitch it.

Fold into an even narrower connected ring, straightening it to the right side.
Place the ring in the cap that is still on the left side so that all the raw edges match.
Pin all 3 raw edges together

Stitch
Turn the cap right side out and iron it with an iron and steamer.

Fold in the edges and iron again

Option No. 3 - hat with ears:
1. Pattern for a newborn. The circumference of a newborn's head is about 35-34 cm, and therefore 18-19 cm in diameter is enough for us to have a loose fit and for seam allowances. The pattern fits perfectly on A4 format. If you need a larger cap, display it on the monitor at the required scale and redraw it from above.

Pay attention to the dotted line on the pattern - this is where the fold of the fabric should go.
2. If desired, take fabrics of different textures or colors and cut out two symmetrical parts.
3. Now we need to draw small ears. To do this, we outline the pattern of the ears on the fabric folded right sides and sew the seams according to the pattern. In principle, the ears can be made conical or even long, like a hare’s. Here everything depends only on our vision of the subject - if we want a pussy, a bunny or a teddy bear, then we simply model the shape of the ears. It's not difficult.

4. Then we cut out the parts, leaving a seam allowance of about 3-5 mm.
5. Turn the ears inside out and, passing the thread along the edge, tighten them a little.

6. Now, look at the photo and sew the ears to the front side of one of the parts of the hat.
7. Sew two seams on the crown. Do not make too large seam allowances - 0.5 - 0.8 cm is quite enough. And the second part too.

9. Next, turning the seams 90 degrees, we make another smooth seam, forming a cap.
10. Turn the pieces inside out, straighten them and slightly iron the seams.

11. At the next stage, we insert the parts one into the other with their front sides. You understand the inside of the ears.
All we have to do is make a seam along the edge, not forgetting to leave a technological hole for turning out about 5 cm or a little less.

12. We turn the cap inside out and sew up the technological hole by hand, as discreetly as possible. The newborn hat with ears is ready. We try the product on our kitten, bunny, tiger cub or bear cub. We enjoy the result.

A wonderful master class on making original children's hats from old T-shirts. Give new life to old things!!! A very resourceful idea for our little ones.

Children's hats are made of stretch cotton, very elastic and comfortable. They are so easy to sew that you can make not just one, but a whole collection of hats. If the hat is for a boy, then instead of a flower you can sew on a ready-made applique or embroider the initials of the child’s name.

Let's start making bright hats.

All these hats are the same size. But since they are knitted, they will stretch, comfortably fitting your baby’s head. Therefore, when making a baby hat of the right size, do not forget to make the pattern a little smaller than the actual dimensions of the head. The cap will stretch and the side seam will also beautifully fit your baby's head.

First, you need to wash the fabric from which you will sew the baby hat so that it shrinks properly. You can use an old children's hat as a template. Fold the fabric in half and circle the cap and allow about 6mm allowance on all sides, as shown in the photo:

Cut out the outline of the hat with seam allowances.

Then we cut out a rectangle approximately 13cm high and 36cm wide from the same fabric as the hat. Make sure that the fabric stretches to the sides, i.e. horizontal, not vertical. This will give the hat the necessary elasticity and it will fit perfectly on your baby’s head.

We fold the two parts of the cap with the right sides inward and sew them together using a machine along an arc. In this case, an overlocker was used. Now we also fold the rectangle and sew it on one side as shown in the photo instructions:

We turn our rectangle right side out and fold it in half as shown in the photo:

Then we insert our rectangle into the main part of the cap, comparing the edges of the rectangle and the edges of the cap, and secure with pins. Be careful - the hat must be turned inside out.

Sew together 2 parts of the hat.

We turn the cap right side out and our seam is on the inside.

Iron the seams of the cap, preferably with steam or with a cloth, so that there are no shiny marks or stretched edges.

We secure the edges of the cap to create a lapel.

Now let’s start decorating the hat to give it originality. To do this, cut out 5 larger circles and 4 smaller ones.

Let's take the big mugs first. Fold them in half, and then in half again. You need to do this with 3 more circles.

When all 4 circles are ready, sew them to the 5th base circle.

This is what should happen:

You also need to do the same with the remaining 4 circles, which we cut out in smaller sizes.

We sew them on so as to cover the folds of the first row with circles. Our flower is ready!

We sew our glamorous flower to our hat.

From your old T-shirt you can sew an excellent children's sleeping set - a slipper and a hat. We will tell you how to do it yourself, give detailed instructions, useful tips and illustrate the process with a specific example. Even if you hardly know how to sew at all, you can handle this alteration in no time.

In this master class, a slipper and a hat are sewn from a T-shirt, but if you want to make a warmer version, use a jumper or cardigan as a basis. The main thing is that the material of the original product is natural, since the baby’s delicate skin is not ready for contact with artificial and especially prickly fabrics. That is why we offer you an example using a regular thick T-shirt made from natural cotton.

What do we need?

  • old t-shirt
  • any ready-made children's slip or suit (for reference)
  • edging material

From tools we need scissors, soap, pins and reliable threads.

Work progress

First you need to attach the finished slip to the T-shirt. Cross your sleeves over your chest – we don’t need them yet.

Make markings on the T-shirt using soap. Mark the outline and level it using a centimeter or ruler. You should have the silhouette of a long tank top with straps.

Cut the ribbon from the fabric. Its width should be about 4 cm; we will use this fabric for edging. Fold the edges towards the center. Then we will fold it in half (already during processing).

It is better to iron the tape with an iron. If you don’t want to bother with this, take a ready-made edging. However, do not forget that you can do everything yourself from the same T-shirt.

We cut out the silhouette of the future slip in duplicate. If it's convenient, do it at once - from the front and back of the T-shirt. Lay both pieces flat on the table and pin them together on the neck side. Consider the finished slip – the width of the neck should be approximately the same. But there’s no need to sew the structure together just yet: you first need to do the sleeves.

We also measure the sleeves according to the finished slip. Just place the remaining pieces of the T-shirt on it and make marks with soap. It is most convenient to make them from sleeves. Chances are there will already be some edging there and you won't have to bother with any additional finishing on the edges. Once the pieces are cut out, attach them to the main structure with pins.

Sew the slip from the inside out. You can do this by machine or by hand. Finish the hem with edging so that you can insert an elastic band or lace inside - a standard tightening for a slip.

To sew a matching hat, you need to attach any of your child's finished hats to the remaining parts of the T-shirt and trace its outline, then simply cut it out and sew the two parts together. By the way, there is no need to make a seam allowance, since it is automatically taken into account when tracing - you do it at a distance.

Thus, from just one old T-shirt we got two new things for the child. A hat and a slipper are children's things that are always needed. They will come in handy both at home and on the street. And to make them more beautiful, they can be supplemented with appliqués, embroidery or knitted decor.

Good afternoon.

I'll tell you how to sew a knitted hat in... a very short period of time.

Many of you have seen hats like this.

The price of hats starts from 5 euros. If you are a miser like me :), then this post is for you.

We buy knitted fabric that we like. The price per meter of fabric is about 6 euros (there is knitwear at this price with a width of 180 -220 cm), we will need a length of about 35 cm. The longer the hat, the more fabric will be needed.

Place a piece of fabric around your head and select a comfortable tension. Cut the desired piece of fabric. For my head I cut 51 cm, of which about 1 cm goes to the seam. Those. from the piece of fabric you bought you can sew at least 3 hats (if the width of the fabric is 150 cm). Have you calculated the savings compared to a purchased hat? I needed a lightweight cap for street sports. And I decided to sew it.

We connect the edges of our future hat. The result is a pipe. Let's try it on. Deciding on the length. My hat is 30 cm.

Close the top of the cap. There are a lot of options here. Try what you like best. you can leave the top of the hat open and use the hat as a tube scarf.

If you don’t want to buy fabric, you can try your hand at it by using boring pants or a sweater.

Or, for example, we take a children’s T-shirt and sew a hat for the child (I took this T-shirt especially for you. I’m not sure that my child will wear it, although I said it was beautiful). Only this will be a spring hat, since the fabric I have here is light.

Here we make two side seams and connect the pipe from above.

And we get a funny hat.

All! After making two to four seams, your hat is ready. It's so simple, I don't know what else to add :)
