Faster, stronger, there is no better sport than hockey. And again Loko is stronger

The sports director of the Belarusian Hockey Federation, Vladislav Klochkov, watched our team’s performance at the World Championships directly from the arena in Copenhagen. In an interview with the site, he told how he parted with Dave Lewis, explained why Sergei Pushkov became his replacement, and not Mikhail Zakharov, and spoke about the problem in the relationship between Belarusian and Russian hockey.

“France and Austria were within our power”

— You were in the stands when the Belarusians lost to Austria in the decisive match. What were your thoughts during the fight?

“I believed in the team until the last moment, but I understood how difficult it was for the guys at that moment. It’s difficult when every fourth shot at our goal ends in a goal.

— Artem Demkov said that he did not sleep until three o’clock in the morning.

“It’s clear that everyone was worried.” They understood perfectly well what kind of game this was and what defeat could lead to. Artem didn’t sleep half the night, and I still can’t sleep properly.

— What do you see as the reasons for the departure?

- Well, you yourself know that two members of our group played in the finals. The level of the tournament this year was very high. When we were traveling, we understood perfectly well that the key matches would be with France and Austria. We can do these teams.

— We conceded six goals from the French, whose personnel problems are no less serious than ours. Bellemare, Roussel, Bertrand did not arrive, and Huet and Meunier ended their careers in the national team. And these are the team leaders.

“But their trio with Da Costa and Fleury looked good. And the goalkeeper played very well. They determined the outcome of the match.

— The players said that the team was not given specific tasks such as reaching the playoffs. They just asked us to fight in every match. Doesn't this mean that even before the start there were doubts about the quality of preparation for the tournament?

“The Americans or the Swedes can set themselves specific goals, such as fighting for medals, but we are just gaining momentum. The World Cup is a short-lived tournament where everything can change after one match. Even the goal difference plays a role. So we can only have one task - to fight in every game, to fight for points.

— During the preparation for the championship, did you have a feeling that something was going wrong? Maybe they expressed wishes to the coaching staff.

— We had an offer to send the team to a training camp in Bobruisk, but the coaches refused it.

— Why is the collection in Bobruisk better than in the capital?

— Almost all players in Minsk have families and businesses. And before such an important tournament, it would be better to focus on hockey.

“Lewis took the breakup well and said he did everything possible.”

— After the match with Russia, Dave Lewis ceased to be the head coach of the Belarusian national team. Tell us how this decision was made.

— After the game, I decided to discuss with Dave how to get out of this situation, because it was obvious that the team was not succeeding. There was no fire in the players' eyes. After consulting, we decided that the guys needed a shake-up.

—What was Lewis's reaction?

- Normal. He understood the situation and said that he did everything possible.

— How did the team take the news? Some hockey players said they were shocked.

— Hockey players are professionals and understand everything perfectly. They must tune in and play, regardless of who leads the team: Lewis, Pushkov, Zakharov, Petrov or Ivanov.

— The next day Andrei Mezin left the team. Was this an act of solidarity with Dave Lewis?

— In the morning I talked with him, then Andrei talked with Sergei Pushkov, but still decided to leave after Dave, who at one time called him to the national team. I would like to emphasize that this was Andrei’s decision, and no one fired him. He just didn't see himself on the team anymore.

— Dave Lewis’s assistants were Mikhail Zakharov and Sergei Pushkov. Can three independent and ambitious coaches get along together?

- They are all professionals. They were given tasks, and everyone worked to complete them.

— Why did Pushkov, and not Zakharov, become acting after Lewis left?

— I think that in this situation Sergei Mikhailovich was a more suitable candidate. In my opinion, Pushkov and the team had better chemistry. The players listened to him.

— Was the invitation of Zakharov and Pushkov to the national team an initiative of the federation?

— We proceeded from the fact that, according to the contract, Dave Lewis could choose one assistant. He chose Andrei Mezin. The Federation decided to call Pushkov and Zakharov as successful coaches in Belarus, and in the case of Mikhail Mikhailovich, his extensive experience of working with the national team was also taken into account. Vyacheslav Gusov and Andrey Kudin also worked with the team, and Dmitry Kravchenko joined during the season. In our opinion, the coaching staff was formed from specialists who are ready to carry out tasks and show results.

— How did Dave react to these appointments? Did he try to lobby for other candidates?

— Dave acted according to the contract and did not ask any questions.

— Former national hockey player and Lida coach Dmitry Dudik said that Lewis had a tricky contract that was difficult to terminate. Plus, it does not oblige the coach to spend a lot of time in Belarus.

— I don’t know where Dmitry Dudik got this information from. He may have personally read Dave Lewis' contract. I can only say that the agreement was signed before we joined the federation and Dave did not violate any clauses.

“In five years we will produce 10 times more young hockey players”

— 8-10 years ago they focused on sending juniors to North America. Now the Danes are reaping the benefits of this. The same can be said about Latvia. Of the 30 juniors, six were able to reach a level close to the NHL.

Our problem is that we are in the middle of the unknown. We are legionnaires both in Europe and in Russia. This is probably the only problem. Having such serious fraternal relations at the state level, it is necessary to somehow resolve the issue of legionnaires.

It’s hard for me to explain why the KHL three years ago. I don’t think that a dozen Belarusians can somehow negatively affect the development of Russian hockey.

“We need to decide what is more important: gathering 15 thousand fans or ensuring the results of the national team”

— How would you evaluate the effectiveness of the federation’s cooperation with Dynamo Minsk?

— Work is being done at all levels, but I would like the relationship to be even warmer and more professional.

— Is it possible to simultaneously be the base club of the national team and set high tournament goals?

- It's very difficult. As they say, if you chase two birds with one stone, you won’t catch either. We need to sit down and determine where we need to sacrifice something for the sake of the national team’s results, and where we need to sacrifice something for the sake of Dynamo.

Photo: Daria Buryakina, TUT.BY

— Probably the most difficult situation was with the goalkeepers. Dynamo wants to get into the playoffs and relies on foreign players, which is why the national team suffers.

— Again, you need to decide what is more important: gathering 15 thousand fans or ensuring the results of the national team. Perhaps we should wait a couple of years for the national team to get a good goalkeeper.

— The home world championship is in three years. Do you think there are any drastic measures that can help the team return to the level of World Cup quarterfinalists by 2021? Or is it better to develop without focusing on this tournament?

— Decisions have already been made. They will be announced soon. We need to remain optimistic. We have the resource, we have the desire. All we have to do is roll up our sleeves, start working and believe that everything will work out.

Hockey... Ice hockey. For me personally, perhaps the most visual and interesting sport of all. I have many reasons for this and I will try to describe them all. This post will probably not be objective, but I will try to present arguments that you can’t argue with. Since there will be a lot of statements about this wonderful winter sport, I will list them one by one, but not in order of importance or anything else, but simply in the order in my head. I won’t be able to fully describe all the advantages of hockey as a sport, and I won’t go into the history of its appearance. Therefore, your comments and opinions are welcome and will certainly complement my post. Let's go.

1) Speed

Hockey is a very fast game. There are several reasons for this: players move on skates, players rest regularly, so, as a rule, they always have the strength to last the entire game.

What does speed sport give? Increased entertainment. Take the example of racing and chess? What's more spectacular? Racing of course! After all, it is precisely because of speed that everything can change dramatically in a short time. This makes hockey very interesting.

2) The coach is part of the team

Let's compare two titans in the sports of hockey and football. In football, the coach stands on the edge of the field throughout the game and tries to convey to the players his vision of the game, advise on tactics and praise the players or not. Also in football there is one break during which the coach explains all the points to the players in a more accessible way, because during the game you often won’t reach half of the players, and you won’t shout all over the field about your tactical tricks that you want to use.

And in hockey this is possible! Due to the fact that players regularly take shifts after an average of 1-2 minutes on the ice (and sometimes more often), the coach is constantly close to the players and here he can explain the tactics to them without fear of being heard by the opposing team. Well, changing tactics in time is the key to victory.

3) Shape of the hockey rink

Hockey is perhaps the only sport where players are allowed to be behind the goal, and this gives many interesting combinations and radically changes the style of play. Just try to imagine that in hockey it will be impossible to go behind the goal? This will be boring!

4) Game time

A hockey match lasts 3 periods of 20 minutes of pure playing time. Regular rest for players during shifts and breaks makes it possible to play 60 minutes of pure playing time, and the fact that the game is stopped in case of violations makes the match more fair, unlike football, where time does not stop at all, the maximum is that a couple of minutes are added by the judge on his own discretion.

5) Men's game

I don’t want to say that you should only watch men’s hockey, women’s is also very interesting, but with this title I want to hint at the physical component of the game - the power moves. Hockey without power moves and fighting would be just figure skating on ice with sticks. And here there is everything a well-fed fan needs - lots of spectacles! You follow both the result on the scoreboard and the confrontation between the players on the boards.

6) Deletions

There are a lot of deletions in hockey. Some people will think that this is bad, but I think that this is one of the best things about it. After all, when a player of the team you support is sent off, you start to worry a lot about her and hope that they won’t miss out. Well, when an opponent leaves, you want your team to use the majority and score. Are 5v3 games worth it, or at the end of the match when the losing team removes the goalkeeper and replaces him with a sixth fielder? It's nerves, a lot of nerves! Can you imagine being sent off in football? As soon as a player is removed, that’s it until the end of the game, and immediately the team is weaker.

7) Result

Hockey games are different, and so is the final result. It happens that they play 0-0, but more often the score is higher. More than in football, that's for sure. Again, because of the speed, it takes less time to score a goal than in football. (here, again, I’m comparing football, but it just so happens that these are the two sports that are most often compared to each other, they are very similar in basic principles)

8) Fans

I can say that fans in hockey are more diverse than in many other sports. There are a lot of ladies and children at the matches. But to be honest, recently there are more and more such fans in all sports, but this has always been the case in hockey.

8) Not predictable

I have personally watched games many times in which everything changed upside down in a matter of seconds. One of the latest was the game of my favorite team “Krylya Sovetov” against “Spartak”, where we scored 3 goals in 36 seconds. It also happened that there was less than a minute left before the end and the team not only equalized the score, but also took the lead.

These are the main points that make me a hockey fan. Yes, perhaps a great love for hockey was instilled in me by the fact that I was born a 5-minute walk from the sports palace and from the 3rd summer I went to almost all the matches, but the love for the style of play and its excitement is still stronger. Many people also say that hockey is popular in Russia due to the fact that our team regularly reaches great heights in tournaments at various levels, but I believe that this is not the case, but rather the spirit of the game and its passion.

As I wrote at the beginning of the post, you can leave all your opinions, remarks and comments below, but in the meantime we are preparing for today’s match of the Russian national team, and of course tomorrow’s home match of “Krylia Sovetov” against “Atlant” near Moscow, victory for us really needed!

LET'S TALK ABOUT HOCKEY?

Today we are talking about amateur hockey in the city. About the benefits of one of the most favorite sports for boys, their fathers and grandfathers.

It's no secret that hockey is a fairly old winter sport. According to some sources, hockey originated in the Middle Ages. In a number of English principalities, during harvest holidays, a game was played in which two teams tried to drive a ball into the enemy zone with curved sticks.

Today, hockey is a spectacular and dynamic sport that attracts millions of spectators on television and in stadiums.

There are three types of hockey: ice hockey; bandy; field hockey.

Today we will talk about amateur ice hockey.

In Novosibirsk, like in any other city in the Russian Federation, there are many fans and connoisseurs of hockey who, for one reason or another, were not able to take it up professionally in childhood. But the desire to drive at speed with a stick in the company cannot be erased or removed, which is why the so-called amateur leagues are created. The main task of amateur leagues is to popularize and attract the attention of children and adults to this sport. The age of participants in amateur tournaments varies from 14 to 93 years. So it’s never too late to start playing hockey!

FOR WHAT

Hockey is a sport of strong and confident men; the game is extremely dynamic, since after just five minutes the player is in a state of complete mobilization. During training, all muscles of the body are involved, depending on the intensity of the game, up to 500-600 calories are burned per hour. Hockey has a beneficial effect on the vestibular and musculoskeletal system.

EXPENSIVE

Sports are expensive in every way. The price of equipment starts from 35,000 rubles. Stick, helmet, armor, gaiter belt, protective shorts, elbow pads, leg guards, armor. Those in the know recommend buying gear for defensemen because it holds up better against hits and hits from the puck. Pay special attention to protective masks - in children's clubs and amateur teams they play in fully barred helmets. It's impossible to break through them! It is best to choose a lightweight composite stick - it gives a more powerful throw.

STATISTICS

In our country, at least 100,000 people already participate in amateur hockey championships. And just as many simply rent ice rinks to shoot the puck. Hockey is a unique phenomenon. Many people play it, but very few of these teams are supported by local authorities. Everything is purchased independently; the players pay for ice, a coach and a dry gym.

IT IS FORBIDDEN!

Everyone can play hockey, but there are still contraindications: ischemia, hypertensive heart disease, arrhythmia, osteoporosis.

INJURIES

This is one of the most traumatic sports. What did you want from men? To get injured less often, you need high-quality ammunition, daily training and a little luck.

PREPARATION OF YOUNG HOCKEY PLAYERS

  • Practice your throws in summer, fall, winter and spring!
  • Throw a tennis ball at the wall and catch it. Throws must be very strong and fast - professional hockey players have a reaction speed of 0.1-0.2 seconds.
  • Memorize the basic hockey formation - “three forwards in front, two defenders in back.” If you play in defense on the right, there is no need to overtake the attacker and attack on the left flank. The team needs every player on defense in case of an enemy counterattack.
  • Do stretches, bends, swim and pay great attention to coordination exercises.
  • Learn to work in a team, listen carefully to the coach’s instructions, respect your comrades.

WELL, AND THE GIRLS?

What should those boys do whose mothers are categorically opposed to such an active pastime? Urgently take her to a hockey game so that mom can “cheer” to her heart’s content along with everyone at the stadium. And our selection in favor of hockey will help when you persuade her to buy you a uniform instead of a fur coat.

1. Australian physiologists recorded the same processes in fans as in athletes. Hockey and football fans experienced increased heart rates, increased breathing, increased sweating, and blood rushing to the muscles.

2. The University of the West of Scotland is using an unusual way to treat patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. They are shown recordings of the best hockey and football matches of past years. Doctors say that after this the patients' condition improves.

3. By jumping and screaming on the podium, mom will get rid of not only stress, but also cholesterol, which leads to atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

4. A study conducted at the University of Chicago found that people who regularly watched sports were better at solving strategic problems. Constantly thinking about game tactics, they get used to calculating various options for solving problems.

During the preparation of the material, we asked several questions to the athlete, master of sports in artistic gymnastics and director of the sports center for extreme sports “ COOBER" to Denis Aleksandrovich Sopot.

Denis, hello!

- Hockey is a sport for real men! Why?

Undoubtedly! This is the most spectacular team sport that develops in a man the most important masculine qualities - such as initiative, solidarity and the ability to take responsibility not only for himself, but also for the entire team. Where else will boys learn this in the age of the Internet?

- When is the best time to start playing sports and why?

If we talk about a professional career, then it’s too late to start playing sports at 18-20 years old. Today, any big sport is a sport from early childhood. As for hockey, I think that the age of 9-10 years would be optimal for starting, although this is also entirely individual. It is important to recognize in time a child’s potential and desire for any sport. My son, for example, took up hockey at the age of 4.

- Why did you choose hockey for your son?

First of all, I think this is still his personal desire. We tried gymnastics and other sports, but when he picked up a stick, his eyes lit up. First we played at home in the hallway, then in the yard, and then my son came up to me and said with all responsibility: “Dad, I want to play hockey, buy me a uniform!”

- Hockey is an expensive sport. How, in your opinion, can parents of young athletes get out of this situation?

Of course, hockey is not a cheap sport, but it is not as expensive as it is made out to be. Children grow quickly, so everything you need can be bought secondhand, in the same condition as in the store. For example, I bought complete equipment for my son for 8,000 rubles. By and large, this is quite affordable money for the average working person. Often parents are driven by their negative life experiences. Therefore, they do not allow children to develop in one direction or another, and sometimes they are simply too lazy to do something for their child.

- Are you not afraid of the injury risk of hockey?

If you're afraid of wolves, don't go into the forest! No one is immune from anything in this life. Many more people are injured in the course of life activities and negligence than on the hockey rink. And boys should grow up strong and resilient. Hockey helps men feel like they are.

-Have you ever played hockey yourself?

Yes, I played hockey! These are incredible emotions, real healthy sports passion.

If I had 36 or 48 hours in a day, I would gladly devote my free time to this wonderful, real, manly sport.

Hockey players are charming and sociable people. Girls do not allow men who played hockey. When boys start playing this sport, they have little free time for all sorts of nonsense. And that's good! They learn to plan their time and not waste it on trifles. This is work - sometimes backbreaking, exhausting work, at the limit of one's strength and capabilities. But it's great! After all, a real man must be able to overcome difficulties and not give in to them. This is exactly what hockey teaches. Don’t look for easy ways, but look obstacles in the eye and meet them halfway.

Not a word about illness. NHL players remain silent about their concussions to avoid losing their jobs

Yesterday, four more NHL players were placed on the injured list with a diagnosis of concussion. There are already more than 30 such hockey players in the NHL! The best hockey analyst in North America, Bob McKenzie, believes that the problem is that many players hide their injury. And this jeopardizes your entire career.

Hockey

Yesterday, four more NHL players were placed on the injured list with a diagnosis of concussion. There are already more than 30 such hockey players in the NHL! The best hockey analyst in North America, Bob McKenzie, believes that the problem is that many players hide their injury. And this jeopardizes your entire career.

"CONCUSSION TEAM"

Four more players were included in the “Concussion Team” - this is the sad name of the symbolic team, which includes hockey players diagnosed with a concussion. And this is the most star-studded club in the world. Even if Claude Giroux left it yesterday.
Goaltender Al Montoya and forward David Ullstrom from the Islanders, Jess Winchester from Ottawa, Marcus Kruger from Chicago. The first one was hit by an opponent. The second one hit the side. The third was hit on the side. The fourth one was hit by force. One way or another, they are all now also on the “Concussion Team”.
Soviet Sport correspondent Dmitry VINGOVATOV raised this topic in a conversation with Philadelphia goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky.
– How do you feel about the problem of concussions in the NHL? Everyone was surprised by the case of Toronto forward Colby Armstrong, who hid from doctors that he had received a blow to the head. They found out about this only when the player began to feel sick.
- I'm not surprised. The NHL is a huge competition. Everyone values their place in the lineup. It can easily happen that the guys go out on the ice without having fully recovered yet.
On the other hand, hockey is improving every year. Speeds are growing, young players are coming. I barely looked and ended up under a train.
-Have you had any concussions?
- Thank God, no. The goalkeeper mask protects. But look, the grille is bent. This was hit by the puck...

MACKENZIE:
YOU CAN'T FAKE A CONCUSSION

TSN analyst Bob McKenzie develops the topic:
“I'm not at all surprised that Colby Armstrong hid his symptoms from the Toronto doctors. No NHL player wants to suffer a concussion. Everyone is afraid, very afraid, that they will be left without hockey for an indefinite period of time. They won’t be able to play and may even lose their jobs. Sometimes hockey players think that if they hide the symptoms of a concussion, the headache will go away on its own.
Unfortunately, this is not the case.
The cold hard truth: You can't cheat a concussion.
If you receive it, then you can no longer play. Of course you can try. But, as in the case of Armstrong, the symptoms will manifest themselves. Nausea will set in, severe dizziness will appear... And if the illness is not too serious yet, and you go out on the ice, rest assured, you will soon get a concussion that will have to be treated for many months.
When Sidney Crosby broke down, it seemed like players were now being much more cautious about the issue. But many hockey players hid their illness before, and they still do. Yes, if you suspect a concussion, you now need to undergo a special test. But the surest control is when the player himself understands that he doesn’t feel well.
If you think concussions are just an NHL problem, take a broader look. The same thing happens in the AHL, in the junior leagues of Canada, in student hockey. There are plenty of such cases!
Regardless of the level of play, concussions are winning so far.
Remember the hockey players who missed a lot of time due to this disease. Pierre-Marc Bouchard (18 months), David Perron (14), Sidney Crosby (10), Marc Staal (3 months and still being treated) ... Each of them was hit by a forceful move that gave them a concussion. But these players entered the ice after the first contact. Until they completely broke down.
There is a harsh reality. You can try, but... You won't be able to overcome a concussion. If there is a disease, it needs to be treated. And not play hockey."

“LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN HOCKEY!”

Mackenzie's fiery speech sparked a heated debate on the Internet. This is what the fans write.
“It’s a shame when players hide a concussion so as not to lose their job. Hockey is just a game! I would rather lose my place in the lineup, but not my health. We have only one body and one life."
“It’s not the number of concussions that has increased, but the knowledge about them. This disease has become better identified. And before, hockey players played with concussions. It was called “the head is buzzing.” I believe this is a result of the NHL actively combating midcourt hooking. Now hockey players accelerate without interference and crash into each other at full speed.”
“It’s not about their heads, it’s about the fact that hockey players have become sissies. They grow as if in an incubator! They should wear skirts instead of shorts!”
There are plenty of opinions. And it is already obvious that this is the main theme of the season. The NHL needs to take drastic measures to get rid of this headache.

Yaroslavl "Loko" prevailed over the "Red Army" in the re-match. This time with a minimum score of 1:0.

Anton Buyalov from LDS CSKA:

Of course, Rinat Khasyanov did some work after Saturday’s defeat to Loko in the opening match. The colorful program after the World Cup triumph was overshadowed by a rather unpleasant setback. It's no joke by the 10th minute of the first period, the Yaroslavl team was leading with a score of 3:0! And all the attempts of the “Red Army” to correct the situation were never crowned with success. Frankly speaking, it is extremely rare to come back from 0:3 in a match. Although this happens more often in the MHL than, for example, in the KHL. But that's not even the point. Based on the game on Saturday, there were no questions about Loko’s victory. The guests' success was convincing. So it became curious how the hosts would respond in the repeat match. Or take Loko. Are the wards of Krasotkin and Podomatsky (what names!) now in such good shape that they don’t care about any tricks of their opponent? However, the “Red Army” had nowhere to go – two defeats at the start were too much of a blow to the nose. Or a blow to self-esteem. And it doesn’t matter that hockey players are just starting to play against each other in official matches. If you want to get higher, work in every match, in every shift.

Unfortunately, the second match between “Red Army” and “Loko” attracted four times fewer spectators than on Saturday. Let's hope it's all because of the hardest day of the week, Monday.

Khasyanov did not change the lineup much compared to the first match. I just brought in the best sniper of the Youth World Cup, Mikhail Meshcheryakov. Well, Loko changed their goalkeeper - Isaev, who is not yet 17 years old, took to the ice! And looking ahead, let’s note that the guy conducted the meeting simply brilliantly and earned his first “cracker” of the season! And the hosts attacked fiercely and frantically. Especially after Korepanov missed the puck from Zhukov. Zenchikov brought him out for a throw. And the goal turned out to be quite spectacular. Mainly because the few spectators did not see more goals scored in this match. Well, the Red Army faces a very difficult season. By the way, when the young red-blue fighters won their first Kharlamov Cup in the 2010-2011 season, the next year they reached the final. But in the 2012-2013 season they did not make it to the playoffs. Now it’s too early to talk about something like that, but the fact remains that the Red Army started the season with two home defeats. But Loko is worthy of flattering epithets.

0:1 – Isaev’s first “cracker” brings the Yaroslavl team a second victory over the “Red Army”.

"Red Army" (Moscow) - "Loko" (Yaroslavl) - 0:1 (0:1, 0:0, 0:0)

Goals: Zhukov – 1 (Zenchikov).

Goalkeepers: Korepanov - Isaev.
