How to make a bow tie with your own hands

Any girl can buy a tie for her man at any men's accessories store. However, it is much more pleasant for the stronger sex to receive gifts made with their own hands. The bow tie comes in different variations, but they all fall into two main categories:

  • classic elegant model a la tie, which is tied at the neck;
  • an accessory that is attached to the collar using a clip or a special fastener.

According to their shape, bow ties are divided into four types:

  • classic, the width of which does not exceed six centimeters;
  • large bow ties with a width of eight centimeters;
  • diamond-shaped butterflies;
  • tie models with slightly rounded ends.

A girl can sew a butterfly with her own hands for a man with step by step instructions. You need to decide which material is best suited for the accessory. If you use silk or corduroy, the bow tie will have a prestigious and expensive look. A more economical option is polyester, which resembles satin models, or paper. In any case, your first bow tie should be made from inexpensive material so that you don’t have to worry about failure. In order for the product to keep its shape, the manufacturing fabric must be dense.

From paper

A paper tie can be an excellent alternative to a fabric tie if you are sorely short of time and the accessory must be ready. If you use the origami technique, which does not require gluing and stitching, you can quickly make a beautiful bow tie from a sheet of colored paper. To implement your plan, you need to take a sheet of square size, for example, 15x15 cm. It is better if the sides of the material differ from each other.

Instructions on how to sew a butterfly around your neck with your own hands:

  1. Turn the sheet wrong side up, bend it horizontally, and then unfold it again.
  2. Fold each of the four corners to the center line in turn.
  3. Fold the top and bottom edges towards the center as well.
  4. Fold the piece in half, starting from left to right.
  5. Fold the corners on the right to the center line and straighten them.
  6. Straighten the product.
  7. Along the created folds, fold the central part in half so that it turns inward.
  8. Fold the top layer of the left corner to the right, folding from the top right corner downwards.
  9. Fold the left side back so that the corners on the right and left coincide.
  10. Fold the top layer of the left corners towards the center line.
  11. Fold the left corners towards the center line.
  12. Gently straighten the workpiece, carefully straighten the central part.

  • two satin ribbons measuring 6 cm and 1 cm;
  • seamstress kit: thread, needle, scissors;
  • colorless varnish;
  • hooks as a fastener.

A bow tie for a man can be made like this:

  1. Take a wide ribbon of 6 centimeters and make stitches in the central part, tightening the thread afterwards and giving the product a bow shape.
  2. Using the first example, create a second bow and glue the two pieces together with glue, passing the thread at the point of fixation.
  3. Attach hooks to a thin satin ribbon, and secure the end of the ribbon to the runner. Thanks to this attribute, you can easily change the size of the bow tie circumference.
  4. Attach the ribbon to the finished bow tie using a thread and needle.

Wall decoration with butterflies

Why spend money on expensive wall decor when it's so incredibly easy to make these beautiful butterfly decorations by hand? With a minimum amount of materials and plain paper, you can come up with exciting results.

To make these beautiful butterflies, you will need plenty of paper sheets, a butterfly stencil, a pencil to trace the outline, and scissors to cut out the shape. Pay attention to special soft versions of adhesive tape for walls, so as not to spoil the repair in case the decor needs to be removed in the future. Do this project with your kids - you can let them put up the finished pieces themselves to encourage their creativity.

Depending on what resources you have, you can use either ready-made cardboard (or thick paper) or an ordinary white sheet with further painting. Always use gouache or acrylic as paints - these two dyes give an intense bright shade after drying that will look especially attractive.

To get a matte finish, use gouache. For a glossy look, you'll need acrylic.

So, step by step guide:

  1. Prepare paper butterfly templates that you can print from this page or use your favorite butterfly shape.
  2. Cut out the outline and fold the shape in half, leaving the central part for fastening.
  3. Use soft tape or double-sided tape to secure free-form wall art.

Butterflies will add a special atmosphere to any part of the house, although this particular option will look most magical in the bedroom to let your imagination soar with them.

In just a couple of hours, you can create several dozen ready-made figures - provided that the whole family is involved in the project. You can choose a monochrome pattern, using one color and creating some clever design with butterflies, or you can choose an unstructured collage - either way, you will be amazed at the results!

The heart design pictured here is one of the favorites for the butterfly stencil, but you can also choose stars, flowers, or a favorite name.

Your kids will love this magical butterfly lantern idea. A lantern is a great way to create a cozy atmosphere and add depth and expression to a space – both indoors and outdoors. In addition to providing illumination, it also helps delimit the space for a special mood. You can do this project with your children to game form experiment with shadows!

You will need:

  • a small glass jar with a capacity of about a liter;
  • a piece of thin wire;
  • scissors;
  • paper;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • glue;
  • thread;
  • candle-tablet;
  • butterfly stencil.

Step by step guide:

  2. Wrap the paper around the jar and cut out the appropriate size, leaving about 1cm extra.
  3. Make a cylinder shape out of a piece of paper by gluing the edges, then glue the butterflies to it.
  4. Make a curved shape from the wire and attach one side of it to the neck of the jar, and hang the butterflies from the other side using a thread.
  5. Glue the butterfly cylinder to the jar.
  6. Place a candle at the bottom and your lantern is ready.

Step 3: Secure the center of the butterfly with wire. Cut off the ends.

Here's a super cute idea for making a pretty butterfly out of cupcake baskets and clothespins. It's super easy and perfect for a kids craft. You can use these butterflies as stand-alone decorations for your home or as an addition to other decorative elements - for example, for hanging on curtains.

You will need:

  • plain white cupcake baskets;
  • wooden clothespins;
  • dye;
  • shine;
  • ink;
  • rhinestones.

Start by creating some colorful butterfly clips.

For large butterflies use 4 baskets, for small ones - two.

Fold them in half.

Fold in half again to make a quarter.

Then glue them together at the corners and in overlapping pairs as shown in the picture.

You can add shape to the wings by trimming the edges.

Add definition and texture with colored ink on the outer edges.

Paint the clothespins with soft acrylic paints and sprinkle them with glitter.

A piece of natural twine is perfect for antennae.

Add a few drops of glue to the ends and dip them in glitter.

Take dried clothespins, tendrils and some rhinestones to make the body of the butterfly.

Be sure to glue the antennae to the top of the clothespin, as if you glue them from the back, they won't be visible under the clip.

Glue a clothespin in the center between the wings.

Instead of rhinestones, you can use a tiny ribbon flower in this place.

All kinds of materials can be used for decoration.

You don't have to cut out the baskets, it looks fun too.

DIY origami butterflies - video

Spring is just around the corner, every day the sun begins to get hotter, birds are chirping outside the window. It's time to teach your child to create a small miracle - paper butterflies. Butterflies made by a child’s hands can decorate any corner of the apartment. Butterflies can settle on a mirror, decorate the walls of a children's room, flutter under the ceiling from a light breeze, and it will always be summer in your home.

For one butterfly you will need two squares measuring 10x10 cm.

We fold the squares like an accordion, as shown in the photo.

We pierce it in the middle with an awl or other sharp object and put it on a wooden stick.

Draw and cut out two bodies from paper.

We glue it onto the wings of the butterfly on both sides, and the wings themselves can be decorated with glitter for shine.

Glue the eyes and decorate with beads or small beads.

Well, this is probably the simplest, but no less interesting way to create butterflies from napkins. One such butterfly will take less than five minutes, and the result is amazing.

For butterflies, we select bright and beautiful napkins, several beads and, of course, you will need fleecy wire.

We fold the napkin like an accordion, fold the fleecy wire in half and twist it, thus making the body of a butterfly.

We insert the napkin and twist the wire a couple more times. Insert the bead and unfold the antennae into different sides. If desired, you can put beads on the tips of the butterfly's antennae.

Such butterflies look good under the ceiling, secured to a thread. They are very light and with a light breeze the butterflies will flutter in different directions.

Decoration "Butterflies".

And this is already a whole hanging decoration with fluttering paper butterflies.

Let's start with flowers. We cut out a large number of flowers from paper. To make one flower, we bend the petals of one flower, glue them onto another flower, and glue the core inside. We make the required number of such flowers.

Ready-made flowers for decoration.

Let's move on to creating paper butterflies. To do this, take black cardboard and cut out butterflies.

The butterflies are painted with blue and cyan acrylic paint, and liquid glitter is applied to the paint.

Next comes a children's plastic hanger. We tie three ropes to it.

Glue the flowers onto the hanger using a heat gun.

We place paper butterflies on strings.

Butterflies are, without a doubt, the most beautiful insects on planet Earth. Agree that butterflies have the most unusual colors (more precisely, some representatives from a large family of butterflies). Thanks to their magnificent color, images of butterflies are used on fabrics (to reproduce unusual prints), and for the design of a children's room, and for decorating all kinds of accessories. You can make a beautiful insect from different materials. For example, from leather, fabric, even metal. But probably the most common material for butterfly crafts is paper. We suggest making your own butterfly from plain paper using the Japanese origami method.

  • So, you can use plain paper for this craft. white or colored.

You can choose the size for the craft yourself. We suggest making a butterfly from A4 paper. Let's prepare a sheet.

To make a beautiful paper butterfly with your own hands, we need a square. You can get this figure in a simple way. It is enough to connect the edges of the paper so that you get a regular triangle. We cut off the extra piece of paper using scissors.

We have a square, one diagonal of which has a fold.

For further work, we need to bend the square along a different diagonal. By the way, in order for the folds to be “clear” and even, you can go over the bend with a ruler.

Then we bend the square in half again on each side. It should turn out as shown in the photo.

Fold the square to form a double triangle.

We turn the corners of one formed triangle and bend them towards the top.

Turn the triangle upside down. Then we bend the top of the triangle to the base so that the corner sticks out a little (this is the head of the butterfly).

Bend the butterfly in half in the center.

We bend the wings, holding the butterfly by the “body”.

That's it. Our paper butterfly is ready.

A butterfly made of paper can be left white (there is also this type of butterfly) or colored as you wish. By changing the size of the side of the square, you can make small butterflies. The resulting butterflies can be used to decorate the interior of a children's room.

It is not for nothing that handicrafts are highly valued, especially if they can be used in everyday life. Sometimes the ability to craft from paper really helps when you need to make original postcard, decorate the interior of a room, give a gift, decorate a stage for a performance, etc. In our article we will talk about several ways to make a butterfly out of paper. Spending time doing this activity instills a sense of aesthetics while simultaneously developing your brain's fine motor skills.

Paper butterfly - origami

Crafts made using the origami technique always look advantageous, and, importantly, they are usually made without glue or tape. Origami paper butterflies fit beautifully into bouquets of flowers, gift wrapping, and room interiors.

Making a butterfly is not difficult if you have 20 minutes of free time, a double-sided sheet of paper of any color, preferably it should be square and its dimensions should be from 7 to 9 cm.

Using the diagram and the following tips, you can easily implement your plans:

  1. Take the paper and fold it in half, first lengthwise, unfold it, then crosswise and unfold it again.
  2. Make lines connecting diagonally opposite corners and unfold again.
  3. Make a triangular shape out of the sheet by inserting a border inside on the right and left sides, following the fold lines made in the previous paragraphs.
  4. Find the bottom corners in the workpiece. They will need to be folded upward to create inclined folds.
  5. Straighten the figure and bend the top. The highest point of the bent corner should protrude slightly beyond the outermost outline of the workpiece. Now the future butterfly needs to be fixed in this position.
  6. Fold the workpiece in half crosswise. End of work.

Advice! Do not press the paper too hard when folding. Otherwise, the butterfly will not turn out with beautiful volume.

Paper butterflies on the wall

The decor with the help of butterflies turns out to be cheerful, lively, creating a joyful mood. To make colorful insects we may need different material. For example, you can decorate a wall with a butterfly made from a colored magazine.

Do the following:

  1. Take a sheet from a magazine and fold it in half.
  2. Draw a triangle so that one of its sides falls on the fold line.
  3. Cut and unfold. You should have a diamond shape.
  4. From the same sheet (if there is enough space) cut out a second diamond, only slightly larger than the previous one.
  5. Make an accordion out of the two resulting figures (start from the center), and then apply a little glue to fix it.
  6. Connect the two diamonds with glue as well.
  7. Pull the accordion a little with your fingers so that the wings are slightly straightened.
  8. Make antennae from thin wire or a strip of paper, wrap them at the ends and attach them to the center.
  9. End of work. The butterfly is ready.

In the same way, you can make moths from colored paper, which can delight the baby’s eyes in a crib, or be a decoration for any postcard or even a holiday table.

Corrugated paper butterflies

Advantages corrugated paper appreciated back in the USSR. Now its popularity is still high, since crafts made from it are durable, beautiful, and convenient to work with.

Butterflies from corrugated paper are made very quickly. To do this, prepare:

  • different colors of corrugated paper;
  • thread with needle;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • simple pencil.

Step-by-step algorithm for making butterflies:

Beautiful paper butterflies

No matter what the butterfly is made of, it will still be beautiful. Paper butterflies look more natural, because the lightness inherent in these flying representatives of the fauna is respected. Therefore, needlewomen know several options for creating such unusual decorative items.

Colored crafts

In order to make a regular butterfly, one side of which you will glue to the surface, you just need to take a one-sided colored paper, fold the sheet in half, draw the contours of one side of the butterfly so that the fold line falls in the middle of the future craft, cut and unfold. You can draw completely different butterflies, with different shapes of wings, sizes, etc.

Butterflies made from a newspaper or magazine look very beautiful and stylish. They can even be opened with clear varnish.

Colored cardboard also looks great for this type of craft. The image is very clear and more or less solid.

Openwork butterflies

To create openwork butterflies, cardboard or thick paper is usually used. It is folded in half and the body (thickened) and wings are drawn. A certain design is made on the wings, which is then cut out. Cardboard can be of different colors.

It is necessary to take into account that when cutting, you should take a sharp knife, and also know that first the unnecessary pieces in the pattern on the wings are removed, and only then the entire outline is cut out.

Multilayer volumetric

To create a three-dimensional insect, take any material: colored paper, cardboard, newspapers, magazines, music notebook, etc., draw and cut out several contours of a butterfly of different sizes. And then glue them together and raise the wings as you like.

Multilayer butterflies made of openwork material and plain paper.

A beautiful butterfly is obtained in the following way:

  1. Take any paper and cut out 2 rectangles from it. One should be larger, the other smaller. This is done in order to make wings for our butterfly.
  2. Fold their corners, located diagonally on one side and the other.
  3. Fold the sheet inward along the intended diagonals 2 times. A triangle should come out, one larger, the other smaller.
  4. Fold the material inside on the left and right. Refer to photo 3.
  5. With a simple pencil on these geometric shapes draw the wings the way you want.
  6. Since the large wings will be on the bottom, the pattern should be located along the edges, and on the small ones you can make squiggles over the entire surface.
  7. Cut out the outline, place one wing into the other and secure with glue.
  8. Draw and cut out the butterfly's body and antennae. Glue it all in the middle.
  9. Slightly straighten and lift the upper wings. The result was a voluminous openwork butterfly.
