How to choose a women's ski suit. How to choose a women's ski suit for a beginner? Functionality of lining layers of ski clothing

A trip to a ski resort promises vivid impressions and the opportunity to spend active time. The quality of your vacation depends not only on the chosen place, hotel, level of service, but also on such a banal thing as clothing. If things are not suitable for skiing, snowboarding, or sledding, no one is immune from force majeure. It is quite possible to get lost in the mountains, freeze, get sick, or get injured. But if you choose the right ski suit, all these difficulties can be easily avoided. Here are a few criteria to help you decide.

Classmates

Color solution. To some, this criterion may seem unimportant. In fact, it is recommended to choose bright colors. If a person gets lost in the mountains or gets caught in a snowstorm, rescuers are unlikely to be able to find him, dressed in silver or white suit. But the bright spot is hard to miss. The choice of color is important solely for safety reasons.

Seam quality. Ideally, they are specially impregnated, glued, and also reinforced with a special braid. This is important so that the suit does not allow moisture to pass through.

Accessories. Ski clothing should not contain metal parts. Otherwise, moisture will definitely shorten the life of the suit.

Three important layers:

The first is the underwear and lining in contact with the skin. Underwear and socks do not have to be completely natural. Cotton is not able to release moisture normally and gets wet quickly. Manufacturers produce special underwear made from both different materials(synthetic, natural with lycra or elastane). The inner layer of the suit (lining) is breathable. It is ideally made from modern synthetic fabrics that are hypoallergenic, dry quickly, and prevent the growth of bacteria that create the smell of sweat.

The second is a heat keeper. The best filling for trousers and jackets is down or non-woven insulation. But the synthetic winterizer loses against their background: it loses its thermal properties when washed and “breathes” poorly. When evaluating fluff, the main parameter is “Fill Power,” which refers to the volume to which a pre-compressed ounce of fluff has recovered. The ideal indicator is 750 units. Non-woven insulation is a down substitute made from polyophine and polyester fibers. It is hypoallergenic, retains heat, and allows excess moisture to evaporate. Plus, it's warmer than down.

The third is a protective layer. Its main parameters are water and vapor resistance. And the membrane is responsible for this - a special film, it is glued or welded to the outermost fabric of the suit. Membrane ski clothing protects against moisture best.

View of the membrane on the fabric. The pore only works at sub-zero temperatures, and a plus on the thermometer makes it useless. A non-porous membrane requires that moisture collects on its surface, only then is it absorbed and removed to the outside. A suit made of such fabric is useful in medium temperature conditions. The third type of membranes - combined - has absorbed all the best from the previous two. The water permeability of clothing made from this fabric is excellent, it is durable, but at high humidity the suit is ineffective.

Style and suitability of clothing for the type of holiday:
Sleigh rides - the main thing is to be warm and comfortable, a waterproof suit and light shoes are required.
Skiing requires loose clothing, but not very loose clothing. The optimal filler is a non-woven material that will provide heat resistance and lightness.
Snowboarding requires a jacket and wide pants. The main thing is that the clothes make it easy to control the movements of the body and the board.

When going on vacation to the mountains, we all ask the same question: how to choose the right ski suit and shoes for skiing? This issue of equipment is perhaps the most important, so renting skis or a snowboard today is not special labor. But you need to approach the choice of clothes with all responsibility. After all, if the suit is chosen well, the skier feels more comfortable while skiing, which means the likelihood of injury decreases.

Which ski suit to choose?

When we enter a sportswear store, we are faced with a real choice of a specific item. Ski jacket, pants, hat, overalls, gloves, thermal underwear, etc. - all these clothes come in different styles, quality, sizes and, of course, prices.

To decide which ski suit to choose, it is worth considering its existing types. Among them we highlight:

  • suits for single-season skating;
  • suits for regular walks;
  • suits for professional skiers.

This classification is determined by the skill level of the skier. If a person is an amateur and engages in descent from ideal slopes, there is no point in buying an expensive suit. But for fans of extreme descents, every detail of the suit is important: size, material, quality, design. The mountains do not forgive mistakes, and therefore even the slightest defect can play a cruel joke on the skier. Therefore, before choosing ski clothes and buying them, you need to decide on your goals: do you need a suit for a long time, are you going to ski professionally or do you need a walking suit? Having decided on the goal, proceed to study the parameters by which the selection of a suit is carried out.

Criteria for choosing ski clothing

When choosing equipment, it is worth remembering that on a ski holiday your body is exposed to high temperatures, wind, snow, moisture and even rain. A ski jacket or pants should keep you warm when it’s cold, and remove sweat in a timely manner when it’s hot. A vacuum should not form inside the ski suit, otherwise the body will “cook” in it. Therefore, clothes must be the right size and style.

Ski jackets are often made from fabrics based on lucre fiber. This material is durable, lightweight and retains heat well. Its water resistance is 5 thousand mm, and its vapor resistance is 5 thousand g/sq.m for 24 hours. Therefore, if you are wondering how to choose a ski suit for walking, then buying a product based on this material is the right decision.

Pants, overalls, and jackets with insulation are made from fabrics based on taslan and duspa fibers. All of them should consist of three layers:

  • First layer (inner) allows the body to breathe;
  • Second layer (insulation) warms the body. Must be made of natural down or non-fabric material. It is not recommended to buy suits with synthetic filling, as it does not allow the skin to “breathe” and after the first wash it loses 30% of its qualities.
  • Third layer (protective) is obliged to protect the skier from cold, wind, snow, rain, steam. This layer must be made of the most durable and high-quality material.

All these three layers must meet the criteria of being waterproof and windproof. To maintain these qualities, membrane fabrics are used. They are rough to the touch. The membrane can be located either with inside ski jacket, and located between the first and second layers. If the membrane is made on the basis of impregnation, such a suit will be poorly ventilated, the body will steam or freeze. If you are afraid of buying a fake, carefully study the product label. The manufacturer always indicates the contents of the suit and materials. By the name you can determine the characteristics of the membrane. Among them we will highlight only the main ones:

  • eVENT membrane: water resistance – 30,000 mm, vapor permeability – up to 29,000 g/sq. m/24 hours. Removes moisture well and keeps the temperature at the proper level.
  • XtremeXtension membrane: water resistance 10,000 mm and vapor permeability 10,000 g/sq. m/24 hours. Washable well and has a dirt-repellent effect.
  • Lithion and Podium membranes from the Authentic series: water resistance – 8000 mm, vapor permeability – 7,000 g/sq.m. m/24 h.

The style and design of a ski suit is no less important than the material from which it is made. A high-quality suit must have:

  • snow skirt, hood, collar, cuffs on the sleeves;
  • thermostatic zippers;
  • pockets of varying depths;
  • mounts for ski passes and keys;
  • adjustable drawstrings on pants and jacket;
  • Perfectly even seams, without defects in cutting and sewing.

How to choose the size of a ski suit?

The question of how to choose a ski suit concerns not only the choice of style, design and material of clothing, but also the size. To correctly determine the size, you need to take a measuring tape and take all the measurements.

The size of the jacket is determined as follows:

  • We measure the width of the shoulders at the highest point of the shoulders. Usually it is located 2 - 3 cm below the neck line.
  • We measure the circumference of the chest and waist.
  • Determine the length of the sleeve. We lower the measuring tape from the base of the shoulder to the hand.
  • The back length is determined by measuring the distance from point A (the transition of the neck to the shoulder) to point B (the end of the product).

We select trousers according to the following indicators:

  • The width of the belt is the circumference of the body at the navel.
  • Hip circumference - measured at the highest points of the buttocks. If you need to determine the half-girth, the result must be divided in half.
  • Belt height is an indicator that is measured from the waist to the crotch.
  • The length of the product is measured at the center of the front side of the pants, from the highest point to the lowest point.
  • Crotch stitch – is carried along the inner side seam of ski pants, from the groin to the lowest point.

When measuring, you should add 1 cm to each indicator, since you will wear thermal underwear and other clothes under the ski suit.

Some of the listed parameters - for example, the height of the belt or the length of the product along the back - will not be needed directly to determine the size. But if you order a ski suit from an online store. Be sure to ask the seller for these indicators and compare them with your own.

With the arrival of winter, people new year holidays They not only go to warm countries to lie in the sun, but also go to ski resorts to fully experience all the delights

Experienced skiers are already aware of everything they may need, but for beginners it is easy to forget something or not take it into account. For those who are finally going to a ski resort for the first time, you need to know a few rules.

First, you need to decide on the country and the availability of trails of varying difficulty. Of course, a beginner needs to choose the easiest route. In European countries it is designated green

This route has a smooth descent, intended for normal skiing or sledding. On such routes the speed does not increase.

Trails of medium difficulty are marked in red. They have a steep descent and uneven terrain. These routes are for those skiers who already ski quite well and can turn off when necessary, slow down, and so on.

The most difficult trails are black. Only professionals are allowed to attend.

So, having chosen a country, a resort and a route, you need to choose clothes for skiing. Regular warm winter clothes It won’t work because it’s heavy, you’ll quickly sweat in it, then the wind will blow over you and that’s it - your vacation is over because you’ll definitely get sick.

To prevent this, you need to choose a women's ski suit and clothes to go with it according to all the rules. To do this, it is advisable to go to a specialized ski suit store, and not to the market, and get advice from the seller.

It is better to choose overalls and a jacket. It is possible to choose a set consisting of overalls and a jacket, or select items separately. Ski jackets are available in a huge range of colors, so there will be plenty to choose from. By the way, the women's one is also useful for cold Russian winters, not only for downhill skiing.

So, the suit should allow moisture to escape, but under no circumstances allow it to get inside. This is its main purpose. It must also be resistant to wind, that is, it must not allow cold to pass through, but rather repel it. A women's ski suit may have a hood (which is preferable), or it may not have one. It's up to you to decide.

It is important to pay attention to the coefficients of moisture resistance and vapor permeability. This is very important indicators, the higher they are, the stronger and more reliable the ski set. These coefficients are measured in millimeters per square meter over 24 hours of fabric use. When going to a ski suit store, it is important to “show off” your knowledge so that the consultants understand that you are in the know.

By selecting nice suit women's ski, you need to check that all the seams are neat and have all the stitching. It also doesn’t hurt to check all the “runners” for serviceability, since you are unlikely to want to change them later, and if at the most crucial moment on the highway your “zip” breaks, it will be extremely disappointing and annoying. It is also important that there are pockets with clasps so that you can put things there without losing them while moving.

There is no need to skimp on ski suits, as they keep you warm and make you feel light and comfortable.

There is no need to buy equipment on your first trip - you can rent it upon arrival. You may not want to ride anymore, so it’s better to buy equipment next time if the desire still persists. You can just try it on the track and choose the appropriate option for yourself.

Skiing season is in full swing, which means it's time to think about equipment. Fans of winter sports mostly prefer ski suits. They warm well, do not get wet and look stylish.

Many various options Modern stores offer costumes. Models have different price categories, differ in design and functionality, so make right choice in favor of a good ski suit is difficult. We propose to consider the criteria that are the basis for purchasing high-quality winter equipment.

  1. Material of manufacture. It must be elastic, moisture-resistant, and not hinder movement. It's good if it's fleece. Suits with added membrane are a priority.
  2. Waterproof indicator. On average it is 5000 mm.
  3. Vapor tightness. For active skiing, we select an indicator from 7000 g per m2, normal mode – 5000 g.
  4. It is desirable to have double cuffs. They will reliably protect against snow getting inside.
  5. The suit must be visible in the snow. It is recommended to choose bright products.
  6. A ski suit set should consist of high trousers and a jacket. If the trousers are not high enough, you should choose a longer jacket.
  7. It is advisable that the jacket be tightened at the waist and at the bottom. The hood must be adjustable.
  8. We give preference to a large, non-slip zipper. It is convenient to unfasten and fasten it while wearing gloves.
  9. The seams must be strong, trimmed with a special water-repellent tape.
  10. The presence of many pockets is welcome.
  11. Suits with reflectors are easier for rescuers to see in case of an emergency.
  12. It must be remembered that the price of a high-quality ski suit cannot be low.
  13. Manufacturer. We give preference to proven brands. Products from well-known brands have long proven themselves on the positive side.

Ski enthusiasts highly value Colmar products and often recommend them to like-minded people. Thanks to the use modern technologies, branded suits do not allow moisture and wind to pass through. Today, the brand is aimed at further expansion and production of only professional clothing.

It is not designed to warm a person, but to repel moisture from his body. After all, riding in wet underwear is not only unpleasant, but also very cold. The underwear should fit tightly to your body, and the material from which it is made should absorb moisture and repel it to the top layer. Under no circumstances should you wear cotton underwear - it absorbs moisture well, but only loses it when wrung out. Thermal underwear may also have hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties.

The next layer is insulation, it protects us from... Some prefer a down lining (which is suitable for severe frosts), others wear wool sweater, it happens that there are several. But in fact, the ideal option for a second layer is fleece. This one warms very well, does not get wet, and perfectly conducts the moisture released by thermal underwear.

The purpose of the last layer is to protect us from moisture and wind. Often people wear simple windbreakers. But they are not very suitable for, because such a jacket will protect you well from the wind, but at the same time it will prevent moisture from escaping. As a result, very quickly between the second and third layers you will get a real “bathhouse”. Technologies that have the necessary characteristics are expensive. But with their help you are guaranteed to get a lot of positive emotions from your trip. High-quality outerwear for skiing should consist of two layers: internal (membrane) and external (thick fabric). Such fabrics have two indicators: coefficients of vapor permeability (shows how much steam the fabric will let through per day) and water resistance (shows the height of the water column that the fabric can withstand). The more these two characteristics, the better.

Skiing is a very popular sport and outdoor activity for thousands of people around the world. But before you go out on the slopes, you need to choose the right skis and suit. The latter must meet several important parameters.

Instructions

Make a wise choice of the first layer of clothing. Basically, first you need to put on good thermal underwear that will keep you warm for a long time. This step must be taken responsibly. It must be made of synthetic materials with a special structure. In addition to retaining heat, thermal underwear removes moisture, thereby supporting thermoregulation. Do not under any circumstances skimp on choosing this layer of underwear, since regular cotton clothing will not retain heat as well. This will make riding unpleasant and even hazardous to health.

Choose your second layer. They should be good insulating clothing. Buy a good one knitted sweater. Special fleece clothing is also suitable. Of course, consider your financial capabilities. Be that as it may, the second layer is needed to effectively remove moisture from the surface of the body and retain heat.

Choose the third layer for a ski trip. Buy a jacket and pants that are made from windproof fabric. It should protect you well from wind and snow. This layer is also needed to remove moisture from the inside. Of course, you can get by with the trousers and jacket that you already have for winter. But they are unlikely to be suitable for driving on steep snowy slopes in cold weather.

Pay attention to the vapor permeability of the suit. This is an indicator of how much water it can pass per day. Also ask salespeople in a specialized store about the water resistance of the suit you like. The more moisture it can withstand before getting wet, the better. That is, try to choose clothes that have higher parameters.

Also make sure that the seams on the ski suit are well taped. How much you can use it will depend on this indicator. The better the seams are made, the longer you will ride without fear of tearing the suit.

  • how to choose a ski suit

Skiing is one of my favorites winter activities for people of any age. They help keep the body in good shape, improve immunity and improve blood circulation. Like any other physical exercise, skiing requires special equipment. In addition to the ski equipment itself, you need to pay attention special attention choosing a suit.

Instructions

Determine how high your motor activity on the ski track. The slower you move, the more insulated and protected from wind and moisture your suit should be.

Athletes skiers typically wear one-piece, tight-fitting overalls that allow them to move as quickly as possible. For regular outdoor walks best choice- This is a set of jacket and trousers.

If you're not a strong skier, choose high-waisted trousers with straps. This model better protects against snow getting inside during falls. On trousers for non-professionals, the lower part of the trousers is equipped with unfastening zippers. This makes it easier to put on and allows you to adjust your socks if they get knocked down while moving.

Make sure that the jacket is long enough and covers your lower back well. As a rule, jackets designed for winter sports have a slightly longer back than the front. It would be good if inside the jacket there is an internal “skirt” with an elastic band that prevents clothes from riding up while moving.

Make sure that the cuffs are tight enough and have special valves that allow you to adjust the width. Interior The collar of the jacket is often made of soft fabrics such as fleece. This protects your face from frostbite. Some jacket models have a special bar at the top of the collar - it does not allow the collar to slide down.

Choose a ski suit that has special protective pads on the knees, elbows, and shoulders. Fabrics such as Kevlar or Cordura from DuPont are used for reinforcement.

Pay attention to details. A large number of pockets will allow you to easily place all the necessary little things. Pockets must be securely zipped. All zippers on both trousers and jackets must be equipped with two-way flaps that protect against wind. Zipper pulls should be large and non-slip so that you can open them without removing your gloves. Another nice detail on quality clothing is the loop for gloves.

When choosing a model, pay attention to the material from which the suit is made. Most often, inexpensive models use synthetic winterizer as insulation. It is lightweight and holds heat well, but after the first wash it loses about 30% of its thermal properties. In addition, synthetic winterizer does not “breathe” well; you will quickly sweat in it. The insulation made from specially treated down retains heat much better and is very light. The main indicator is elasticity. It is referred to as Fill Power or F.P. (compressibility) maximum value - 750 units. But when wet, the fluff rolls off very quickly and loses its weaving.

The optimal choice would be the new generation of insulation such as 3M Thinsulate, Polartec 200, Polartec 300. These non-woven materials have the thermal properties of down, are hypoallergenic, absolutely environmentally friendly, perfectly permeable to moisture and allow the body to breathe. In addition, after 15 washes they lose no more than 10% of their thermal properties.

The outer fabric on the suit is designed to protect against moisture and wind. The main characteristics are moisture evaporation and water resistance. In cheap fabrics, protection from external dampness is achieved through special impregnations that make the fabric heavy and non-breathable. Breathable fabric, on the contrary, does not provide good protection against moisture. Membrane fabrics allow you to achieve an optimal combination of these two indicators. Their operating principle is that the moisture evaporated by the body consists of smaller water molecules than external precipitation. The most famous membrane fabrics: Gore-Tex, SympaTex.

And the final touch - check the seam protection. Good ski suits should have seams taped on the inside with special tape. It protects against moisture getting inside through the holes left by the needle. Conventional sizing (without braid) very quickly becomes unusable.

The basic requirements for a ski suit fit into the extremely simple formulation “warm and dry.” However, in order to choose clothes that meet these parameters, it will not be enough for you to simply try them on. When purchasing, carefully study the fabric composition and design features of the suit.
