How to make a Christmas ball from threads. How to make a ball of thread? DIY balls made of thread and glue

New Year- a time of gifts, guests and fun. One of the most enjoyable moments before the holiday is decorating the Christmas tree, which is almost impossible to imagine without traditional balls. Have you tried making a Christmas ball with your own hands from any scrap materials yet? For example, regular threads are perfect for this. The ball will turn out openwork, airy, delicate and elegant. It is sure to impress all your guests.

The basis for this craft will be an inflatable children's ball round shape. And the process of making it is extremely simple and accessible even to a child.

To work you will need:

First, let's inflate balloon IR to the desired size of the future ball. We tie the lower end of the ball tightly with thread so that it does not unravel. We take knitting threads and begin to wrap the inflated ball. You can use your imagination and experiment with color combinations of threads, combining different shades.

This can be done in two ways:

  • pour glue into a cup and soak the threads with a foam sponge;
  • make a hole in a jar of glue and pull the thread through it before you wrap it around the ball.
  • When wrapping the ball, the thread will immediately become saturated with glue through the jar. After impregnation with glue, the ball should be removed to dry for about a day. The time it takes to dry depends on the density and quality of the yarn.

    When the surface of the ball is completely dry, you can safely proceed to the next step. Take a sewing needle and carefully pierce the balloon in several places. It will deflate before your eyes very quickly. As soon as the ball is deflated, it is necessary to remove it from the workpiece, dragging it between the threads hardened by the glue.

    Let's start with the design. To do this, we take beads and string them on a needle and thread, thereby getting a pendant like this.

    We make two of these pendants. The next decorative element is a bow made of satin ribbon. We do everything elementary and by eye. Take a satin ribbon and tie an ordinary bow.

    Cut a rectangle from a piece of mesh and assemble it in the middle. It turns out to be another mini-bow, which we sew manually behind the blank made from ribbon. In the center of the double bow we sew a large matching bead, but you can, in principle, do without it.

    We attach the finished bow to the ball using glue or thread with a needle. We also sew bead pendants to the ball, placing them in height with a difference of about 2-3 cm relative to each other.

    The final touch is the main pendant, with which the ball can be hung on the holiday tree. We will make it from braid approximately 15-20 cm long. You can simply tie the braid into a small knot or sweep away its ends with a needle and thread. All that remains is to find this cute ball a worthy place in the decoration of the Christmas tree or in New Year's decoration your home.

    You can arrange a composition of several balls of different sizes and colors - for example, put them in a huge decorative vase. Complete the composition with fir branches or artificial flowers. The main thing is to “turn on” your imagination, and your balls will be the most exclusive.

    You can decorate a Christmas tree with balls of thread and create festive interior decor. And they can also become an original gift for the holiday.

    You will need:

    • Inflatable ball
    • Petrolatum
    • Colored threads, the thicker the better
    • PVA glue
    • Scissors

    Inflating the balloon the right size. Lubricate the ball with Vaseline to make it easier to detach it from the glued threads.

    Mix PVA glue with water. Dip the threads into this mixture.
    Wrap the ball with thread. Or we pierce the jar of glue with a thick needle on both sides. We thread the thread straight from the skein into the holes without cutting. Slowly pulling the thread through the jar, wrap it around the ball. She herself is wetted in glue.

    The more layers of thread, the stronger the ball will be, but if you wind too much, it loses its airiness and transparency.

    Leave to dry for 1 day.

    When the balloons are dry, carefully deflate the balloons. If done carefully, they can be used several times.

    You can decorate the resulting web balls using beads, beads, feathers, and ribbons. You can create a snow effect: moisten the ball with glue and dip it in semolina or powdered sugar. You can use threads different colors, then you get a very beautiful weave.
    If you are unable to wind glue-soaked thread onto a ball, you can wind dry thread and then thoroughly soak it in glue using a brush or sponge.

    DIY Christmas tree decorations have been a trend in recent years. Therefore, the question of how to make a New Year's ball from threads is relevant for many people. The craft is easy to make and does not require any time or financial costs.

    What to make it from?

    To create such a Christmas tree decoration, you will need:

    • balloon of any color;
    • medium thickness knitting threads;
    • tube of PVA;
    • braid;
    • any decor (beads, thin ribbons, sparkles, etc.).

    If you want to make a miniature ball, it is permissible to use regular sewing threads. As for glue, PVA is the only one possible option. Silicate-based compounds crumble over time, so the toy will definitely not be durable.

    Step-by-step creation of a man-made masterpiece

    The first stage is inflating the balloon. You need to try to give it perfect round shape. The size of the balls depends on how big the Christmas tree toy should end up being.

    Stage two - mix PVA with water in equal proportions 50/50. If there is no confidence in the good quality of the glue, it is recommended to reduce the volume of liquid.

    The thread to form the ball can either be cut into equal parts or left whole. The first option is preferable because the material “soaked” in glue will be much easier to remove. A solid thread will become very tangled. Parts of the material should be soaked in the glue for 3-4 minutes.

    After this, you can immediately begin wrapping the ball with threads. They should be applied in random order. The only caveat is that the end of the thread cannot be left in an empty space. To better understand the principle of layering threads on a ball, it is worth watching the corresponding master class.

    The wrapped ball must be hung in a cool place and left for 12-16 hours until completely dry. The duration of this period depends on the number of layers of threads. When the product is completely dry, the balloon is pierced with a needle and its fragments are removed through the holes.

    Decorating a homemade toy

    The New Year tree should look magical. Therefore for homemade balloons you need to choose a beautiful decor. The most common option is a satin ribbon bow and two bead pendants.

    We tie a standard bow from a satin ribbon of any color, and sew 3 beads to its center. There is no need to glue this decor to the ball - it will stick much better sewn on. The bow is fixed on the toy - this is how its upper part is designated.

    A bead pendant is made by simply stringing them on threads. There are 5-6 pieces of different sizes for each. They are sewn below satin bow at different heights.

    At the final stage, the main pendant is made from a narrow braid 15-20 cm long. The ball is hung on the Christmas tree - the result is simply excellent!

    Hollow balls of thread look unusual and very beautiful. Today we will tell you how to make them and offer several ideas for making New Year's accessories using such decorations.

    Balls of thread can be used as an independent decoration for a Christmas tree, turned into a sparkling garland, made into a New Year's character and much more. So arm yourself with threads, and then your imagination will do everything for you.

    What do we need?

    • threads of any color and thickness (you should not take fluffy ones)
    • balloons
    • PVA glue
    • starch

    Work progress

    Previously, we told you how to make a lampshade from threads. The technique for making these balls will be similar.

    The main difference is that you don't need to inflate the balloons too much. Make them very small - the size of a fist. Inflate as many balloons as needed. And tie them somewhere to make it convenient to wrap and dry the future craft.

    In a bowl, dilute one and a half cups of glue with half a cup of starch and a quarter cup of water. Dip the thread into a bowl and wind it around the ball in any order.

    You can pre-lubricate the balloon with Vaseline to make it easier to separate it from the thread. However, you can do without this.

    When the glue dries and the threads harden, you just need to pierce the ball with a needle and carefully pull it out through the hole.

    Make as many balls as needed to make the desired accessories. They can be used in different ways.

    Balls of thread for the Christmas tree

    This area of application is the most obvious, but no less significant.

    Simply attach loops to your balloons and decorate your Christmas tree with them. Additionally, during winding you can string various beads. Before drying, the balls can be generously sprinkled with dry glitter.

    The thinner the threads, the more beautiful the jewelry. Regular sewing thread will also work.

    Christmas tree made of balls

    We have already told you what beautiful compositions can be made from various Christmas balls. In any of the described techniques, you can use not only standard ready-made balls, but also homemade balls made from thread and glue. For example, you can assemble a Christmas tree from them. If not all of it, then at least part of it.

    When making such New Year's decorations, it is better to use balls made from thicker threads - they are stronger.

    New Year's interior decoration

    Despite the obvious simplicity of the idea, the effect is simply amazing!

    Make several balls of different sizes and simply place them on the windowsill. Scatter pieces of tinsel, various stars, and gold ribbons between them. Place a few nearby simple candles(in this case, take precautions) or lay out a garland (a less fire hazardous option, but still be careful). Turn off the lights and turn on the lights - the house will be filled with magic!

    Snowman made of balloons

    And even beloved new year character This technique makes it look especially beautiful.

    Secure the balls with glue, and make the hands separately. For this we need thin wire and red threads. Fold the wire into mittens, coat them with glue and wrap them tightly with thread.

    Ready-made snowmen can be decorated knitted hats, beads and other accessories.

    Garland with balls of thread

    One of the most beautiful accessories that can be made from these balls.

    Just be sure to check the garland for serviceability. In addition, it must be of high quality, and best of all, with additional protection from heating. Make sure that the light bulbs do not overheat. If you doubt that your garland meets all safety requirements, it is better to abandon this idea.

    To make such a garland with your own hands, you just need to move the threads apart a little, stick the light bulb inside and push the threads back. The main thing is that the light bulb does not come into contact with the threads.

    This garland looks very beautiful on the New Year tree, on the wall, and on the windowsill.

    Hanging decoration

    Balls of thread can simply be hung from the ceiling.

    If you don't feel like putting in the extra effort, just hang all your balloons over a table or door. It looks very unusual and impressive, adding coziness to the home.

    Choose any of the proposed ideas or come up with something of your own. This christmas decoration can be used in dozens of different accessories. And each will be beautiful in its own way.
