So, this year your child will face a real test - passing the Unified State Exam. You are probably worried, if not more, then at least as worried as your high school student, because this is so important! But it’s very difficult to understand all this, the children don’t want to explain anything, and the official websites are drowning in bureaucracy.

The editors of the site come to your aid and tell you everything in detail and more vividly than Rosobrnadzor. Take notes and tell the children if they don’t know.

- What is the Unified State Exam? Do we really need it?

The Unified State Exam is a form of state final certification for educational programs of secondary general education. Simply put, the final exam at graduation from school. The Unified State Exam is mandatory; without passing it, the child will not be able to receive a certificate and enter college.

- OK. We'll have to go. How many subjects do you need to take?

There are still only two compulsory subjects to pass - Russian language and mathematics. No new items were introduced this year; that awaits us only in 2020. The child has the opportunity to choose additional elective subjects (needed for admission). You can take the following disciplines: physics, chemistry, history, social studies, computer science, biology, geography, literature and foreign languages. Except for mathematics, all subjects are assessed on a 100-point system.

- What's wrong with mathematics?

The fact is that the Unified State Exam in mathematics is divided into basic and specialized. The child can choose what he needs (or he can choose to take the subject in two options). The basic level is necessary to obtain a certificate and be able to enter a university where mathematics is not an entrance exam. The basic level will be assessed using a five-point system. And the exam in mathematics at the profile level is taken by schoolchildren planning to enter a university in which mathematics is included in the list of mandatory entrance tests. And in this case, the exam will be graded on a 100-point system.

- Okay, does everyone get admission to the Unified State Exam?

In order to obtain admission to the Unified State Examination, you must:

  • submit an application to take the Unified State Exam in selected subjects (this year - until February 1);
  • receive all annual grades in all academic subjects at school not lower than “satisfactory”, no “F” grades;
  • submit the final presentation in the Russian language.

- Okay, when will these exams be? And where?

The Unified State Exam schedule is official, general throughout Russia. You can view it on the official Unified State Exam portal and on the Rosobrnadzor website. To take the Unified State Exam, children are sent to another school, where exactly the students will be told at their educational institution closer to the exams. But you won’t have to travel far - it will be one of the district schools.

- What to do if two Unified State Examinations take place on the same day? How to break up?

No need to break up. The schedule is already known; there are reserve days for all such subjects. When submitting an application, you just need to indicate the date of participation in the Unified State Exam that is convenient for you.

- And if my child is disabled, he may not take the Unified State Exam?

Maybe. For disabled people and children with limited health capabilities, another form of passing is provided - the GVE (state final exam). It is easier, but it has its drawbacks: it is also automated and cannot serve as an entrance test to a university. The university will not accept his results, but will assign new entrance tests, which may be either easier or more difficult for the student.

- Okay, I changed my mind, it’s better to take the Unified State Exam. Will they provide him with the necessary conditions?

Certainly. Firstly, the exam time for children with disabilities is increased by 1.5 hours (and by 30 minutes in foreign languages). Secondly, you can choose a “special seating arrangement,” that is, ask the child to be seated alone in the audience. Thirdly, all children will be provided with the necessary technical equipment (if necessary: computers, magnifying glasses, sound amplification equipment, forms in Braille, etc.). Also, children can freely move to the toilet, take breaks for medical procedures or for a snack. In extreme cases, the Unified State Examination is also carried out at home.

- Okay, but how does this Unified State Exam go?

Any exam starts at 10.00 local time. It is undesirable to be late - no one will increase your time and no one will repeat the instructions. You can take with you: a passport (required), a gel pen, capillary pen with black ink (also required), medicines and food (if necessary), teaching and educational tools (for mathematics, a ruler; for physics - a ruler and a non-programmable calculator; for chemistry - non-programmable calculator; in geography - ruler, protractor, non-programmable calculator). Unified State Examination participants with disabilities receive special technical equipment.

Everything else is handed over at the entrance to a special storage area.

After checking the documents, the child will be taken to his place; he cannot change it. Then the briefing begins, if something is wrong with the set of tasks (the integrity of the packaging is broken), you need to say about it at this moment, then this will not be a reason for an appeal. After the instructions, you need to open the package, make sure that everything you need is in place, the text is well printed, the paper has no defects, the assignment is in Russian, not mathematics, etc. The children will be told everything that needs to be checked.

Next, the registration form is filled out, after which the student begins the task. After completion, you need to fold all the sheets and take them to the examiner. That's it, you can go home, you don't have to wait until the end of the exam.

- Can you write it off?

It's a bit complicated. There are jammers everywhere, mobile communications are unavailable, even if a child carries a phone with him. You can go to the toilet, but under “escort” you won’t have time to read much. For a cheat sheet that they saw, the child can be removed from the Unified State Examination, taken out and his work not checked. In addition, there are cameras everywhere. It's better to be prepared.

- When and how will the results be announced? What if I don't like them?

The results should become known approximately three days after passing, they will be transferred to the educational institution, and they can also be checked on the Internet. If you and your child are not satisfied with the score, you can file an appeal within two working days after the official announcement of the results. This is a personal meeting with independent experts, where you and your child can look at the work and try to prove that Gogol wrote Onegin. It’s true that it won’t work.

- Can they lower the score on appeal?

When considering an appeal, the conflict commission completely rechecks the examination work. So yes, the result can change in any direction. And if anything happens, it is no longer possible to appeal.

- What is the passing grade now?

36 points in Russian language and 27 points in specialized level mathematics. The remaining minimum scores can be found at the disposal of Rosobrnadzor.

- What if I didn’t pass?

If a student fails to pass a compulsory subject, he has the right to retake it at an additional time (approximately two weeks later). If you “fail” again, it will only be in the fall, in a special center, and until that time you will not be given a certificate. Children can also retake the Unified State Exam upon receiving a passing score (that is, to improve their score). If it doesn’t work out again, in the summer with a new wave of graduates. And so on ad infinitum.

As for elective subjects, if the student does not score the minimum number of points, he can retake it only after a year.

- Fine. Everything seems to be clear with the Unified State Examination. What about admission?

And we will tell you about this next time.

What can you use on the Unified State Exam? Let's figure it out.
You must take it with you to the Unified State Exam. passport!

You cannot use a mobile phone during the Unified State Examination. Mobile devices are handed in upon entering the classroom. If you are suddenly noticed at the Unified State Exam with a mobile phone (with a book, with a notebook...) - you will be removed from the exam. The results will be cancelled.

On the Unified State Exam mathematics You take with you pens (black gel) and a ruler. It turns out that many graduates do not know: you can use a ruler on the Unified State Examination in mathematics! But you can’t take a compass (logical: what if someone uses it as a bladed weapon?). And therefore, when preparing for the Unified State Exam in mathematics, learn to draw circles by hand. At first they will look like potatoes with shoots, but each time they will turn out better.

In the version of the basic Unified State Exam in mathematics, you will have the necessary reference material. The main thing is to know in advance how to use it.

The version of the profile Unified State Examination in mathematics also contains “reference material” - in the form of 5 trigonometry formulas. Of course, this is not enough to solve problems! We hope that by the time you take the Unified State Exam you will have learned more than a measly 5 formulas!

Should I take cheat sheets for the Unified State Exam? Risky. Although one schoolchild from Kazakhstan made a cheat sheet 11 meters long and was even able to use it, after which he ended up in the Guinness Book of Records. But not everyone will be so lucky, and it is more likely not to get into the book of records, but to be removed from the Unified State Examination.

But it makes sense to make yourself the perfect cheat sheet before the exam. Place, for example, all the necessary geometry formulas on a sheet of paper. While you write them, design them, make drawings for them, you remember the material perfectly. First, check the textbook. Then - from memory. After that, you can safely leave this work of art at home, because you already remember everything.

On the Unified State Exam physics You can (and should) take a non-programmable calculator with you. This is a calculator “with functions” - allowing, in addition to arithmetic operations, to calculate sine, tangent, logarithm, square root and much more.

When are you preparing for the Unified State Exam? physics, use just such a calculator. No need to replace it with your mobile phone! Because you won’t take your mobile phone to the Unified State Examination.

On the Unified State Exam chemistry You can also bring a calculator. And they will also give you: the periodic table (it replaces a dozen cheat sheets!), a solubility table, an electrochemical series of metal voltages. If you skillfully use this wealth, you can pass the Unified State Exam in chemistry.

On the Unified State Exam geography– You can take a calculator, a ruler and a protractor.

You don’t need to take anything for the Unified State Examination in subjects other than pens.

Can I take food with me? It turns out not. Do you know why the Unified State Exam lasts not 4 hours, but 3 hours and 55 minutes? Because it is believed that in 4 hours you will get hungry and you will need to be fed, that’s the rule. And you can live 3 hours and 55 minutes without eating. Therefore, you won’t be able to bring a sandwich, pizza, or nuts.

Please have breakfast at home before the exam! Just not cucumbers with milk! You don't need to drink a lot of coffee either. Coffee in excess can cause drowsiness and at the same time is a diuretic.

You can bring water to the Unified State Exam if there is no cooler or water bottles in the classroom where the Unified State Exam is being held.

You can take food with you to the GVE exam.

What else do schoolchildren take with them to the Unified State Exam? Why don’t they take it! But you don't need to do this. Once there was a news report that one girl took a snake with her to the Unified State Exam in Russian. During the exam, he crawled out, scared the applicants and observers, panic began, he was already crawling, everyone was screaming and trying to escape, then the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived. The reptile died. The girl explained her action by saying that the snake was bored alone at home. This is, of course, creative, but cruel to the snake and to your classmates.

Good luck on the Unified State Exam!
