Crafts made from ribbon yarn. Knitted bags

Handmade home products are becoming fashionable. Hand Made is experiencing a renaissance. Online publications are filled with master classes and websites with such products. Today, it is the pouf made of knitted yarn that is among the top in popularity.

Once upon a time, during Soviet times, this type of needlework was very popular. Our grandmothers tore cotton things into long shreds and knitted colorful bedside rugs. We used a regular thick hook. The tradition is being revived. Now it is interpreted as a Western fashion trend.

Rough knitted carpets and poufs gained popularity thanks to the Dutch designer Kristen Mynderstna. She herself makes coarse yarn from sheep's wool and knits it with meter-long knitting needles. The products are in great demand. Thus, Western designers “moved” our grandmothers. Let's try to figure out how to make such a pouf yourself.

A pouf is made from knitted yarn in the form of a cute colored ball or square. They look really cute in the interior. They give it a homey feel. They are knitted from coarse threads, ropes, and yarn. Of course, you can work hard and try to make yarn yourself from old sweaters. But this is only if there are enough of them and enough patience for such labor-intensive work. Therefore, it is better to look for material in specialized stores.

In addition, material for the cover is needed. It is better to make it from thick linen or cotton fabric. The filler is foam rubber, padding polyester, and hallofiber. You can buy them at a hardware store. Can be purchased in showrooms that sell fabrics for upholstered furniture. Our women's ingenuity suggested that they could buy two padding polyester blankets at a second-hand store and gut the contents out of them.

Knitting a round ball

The pouf can be crocheted or knitted. Round products are knitted more often. Before you start knitting, you need to decide for whom we will make the product and in which room it will be located. In the bedroom, choose yarn to match the color of the bedspread or curtains, in the living room - to match the color of the sofa pillows. For the nursery we choose bright colors; you can combine several colors. Multi-colored ottomans can liven up the interior of a child’s room. They really like them.

To begin with, we knit a pouf with knitting needles, the optimal dimensions are: width – 60 cm, height – 40 cm. Sequence of work:

1. Making a cover. We sew a piece of fabric (100*165 cm) with a tube. Then we tie one side with a rope and turn the cover inside out so that the knot is inside.

2. Fill the case tightly with filler. We tie the top with a rope. Straighten out the remaining fabric.

3. The product will require knitting needles. A pearl pattern is made, i.e. we alternate knit and purl stitches in a row.

4. When knitted cover ready, put it on the blank. Using a hook, sew the two halves together. Alternatively, you can join the halves together using decorative buttons. You will get a removable cover.

The product will be more elegant if you use your imagination. For example, sew on pieces of fur, colored buttons, beads or ribbons in the form of bows.

On video: how to make a round knitted pouf.

Square products

Do-it-yourself square-shaped knitted poufs are made in the same sequence. They only sew a cover in the shape of a square. Interesting products are made from natural jute rope. For this you will need the same materials as for the round pouf. Recommended dimensions 70*70 cm and height 40 cm.

Subsequence:

1. Cut out two squares of 72*72 cm and 4 canvases of 42*72 cm from fabric. Sew them together, first the sides (42*72), then sew on the top. Add 2 cm to the seams. We do not sew the bottom completely. Turn the seams inside out. Place the filler tightly. We sew the cover by hand.

2. Now we will knit six squares. In order to determine the number of loops, you need to knit a small piece. Count how many loops there are per 1 cm, then multiply by the required dimensions.

3. Connect the squares using a hook, leaving one side to insert the workpiece (case with filling).

4. After putting on the knitted upholstery, crochet the remaining unstitched part.

If you want to emphasize the square geometry of the product, the connecting seams can be made of contrasting yarn.

As you can see, DIY knitted poufs can find universal use. These are practical things, beautiful decorative elements. If you like the idea and are wondering how to knit a pouf, don’t hesitate. Buy threads, find a pattern or calculate it yourself.

Perhaps you will like this exciting activity so much that it will become your hobby. Handmade things fill the home with positive energy. The author enjoys the creative process. Those around him from the result of his work.

Some tips on how to knit from Prima knitting yarn large hook SusiMiu

  • You need to choose the hook size for yourself . I crochet number 15. In general, I have two hooks: No. 15 and No. 12. I don’t really knit with standard 12, since I knit from very thick knitting yarn. It should be light and with correct form heads under your hand. I recommend plastic- it's light. And don’t worry about the fact that metal hooks are best for small sizes.

The size of a product crocheted No. 12 will differ significantly from the product crocheted №15.

Therefore, e If you are knitting a product from small parts, like hexagons or diamonds, then don't change the hook! Otherwise, your sides will not match when sewing.

  • You need to decide on your knitting technique: will you knit tightly or not?
  • A product knitted from knitted yarn is very dependent on the thickness of the tape:

This photo shows how different a figure crocheted using the same pattern is:

The carpet is knitted from thick yarn 1m. in diameter I will knit very quickly because... I will need to make fewer rows and the carpet will be lighter.

  • Knit baskets and bags from thick yarn! If you knit from a thin wall, the baskets will not hold their shape. What to do if you have already bought wonderful thin knitting yarn and want to knit a bag or basket? Knit in two threads at once! so the basket will be elastic. I don't know how, but the cost will be less than if you knit many more rows of fine yarn. Very important! Again, if you want to knit a product from parts: do not change the ribbon! If you knit from yarn of different thicknesses, your details will be different.
  • How much yarn do you need?

This is the most common question to which I have no answer. Always different. I cannot accurately calculate how much knitting yarn is needed for a product.

For example, for a carpet, I calculate this for thick yarn or two-strand yarn):

Magic ring + first three circles = 1 large bobbin 1kg

Circle 3+4+half past 5th= 1 large bobbin 1kg

Second half of the 5th row + 6th row = 1 large bobbin 1kg

In short, for one carpet 1m. It takes 5.5 large bobbins in diameter.

  • My product began to “wave” or, conversely, began to “shrink”. What to do?

If your carpet starts to go waves- then you have overkill loops for this hook and thickness of yarn! What if I knit according to the pattern? Well, for this you need to have skill and try to reduce the number of loops. For example: if your pattern says to knit two loops into one loop of the previous row every 8 loops, then knit every 9.

If your carpet begins to “curl” and “unauthorizedly create walls” (I read this from the comments), then your knitting has too few loops. Need to add!

We must try! start not with openwork rugs, but with standard ones. It's easier to play with addition/decrease.

Scheme of the Checkmark pattern

In general, the “Checkmarks” pattern is presented in two versions - with checkmarks arranged one above the other and with checkmarks arranged in checkerboard pattern. For knitting baskets, the first option is used, as it provides sufficient density and makes it possible to conveniently increase and knit in the round. You can find the second knitting option for this pattern in a special article - a link to it at the very beginning of this material.

The myth of Ariadne, the legend of Sleeping Beauty, the tale of the magic ball... All these stories began with an ordinary spinning thread. However, this universal and truly magical creative material cannot be called ordinary. Especially when it comes to knitted yarn - it stretches well when knitted, but perfectly holds the shape of the finished product, is unusually bright, but does not fade, is affordable, but always looks rich and professional.

The Japanese hobby that made the whole of Europe fall in love with it

Ribbon yarn is a thick thread knitted with stockinette stitch from natural cotton. It is also known among knitting enthusiasts as “spaghetti”. Despite this Italian nickname, she appeared in the Land of the Rising Sun. In the nineties of the 20th century, knitting funny and cute toys called amigurumi became popular there. They were small in size, but very soft and textured, and so physical properties it was the yarn of their knitwear that possessed. Previously, the Japanese used it to create carpet mats, because the thickness of the thread made it possible to quickly knit even a very large, elastic and soft fabric on which you could sit and even sleep. Since then, this yarn has been loved in Europe and around the world, because its expressive features give a unique opportunity to make any knitted item not only wearable, but also incredibly beautiful.

Advantages of knitting yarn

Works made from ribbon yarn are not flat, as is the case with ordinary knitting threads, but unusually voluminous, airy and fluffy. And most importantly, “spaghetti” is a ready-made fringe for decorating any product - from a pillow to a handbag.

Knitwear stretches well, and the bobbin itself with wound yarn gives enormous scope for creativity: you can unwind the thread not only from the outside, but also from the very center of the ball. This is very convenient for simultaneous knitting of two symmetrical parts, which are now easy to compare in size and shape.

The rainbow of tones and shades of yarn will never fade, so jewelry and souvenirs knitted from it will delight your friends and relatives year after year, reminding you of your love and care.

The cost of knitted yarn is not only affordable, but also very profitable, because just two or three skeins will be enough for you to make almost any product, be it a miniature key pendant or a plump sofa cushion.

Any knitter can easily create a potholder, eyeglass case or hat from “spaghetti” in just one evening. Thanks to the thickness of the knitted thread, the work will be completed in just a couple of hours, because you will not have to make double and triple loops for additional volume.

An even, soft and large thread is easy to throw both on a hook and on knitting needles; even a person with vision problems can cope with this pleasant and relaxing work, because knitted yarn has rich shades and is clearly visible. Fans of this vibrant hobby even call it yarn that calms the nerves.

Caring for knitted yarn

The main feature of this yarn is its dimensional stability; it is guaranteed not to stretch over the years. But she can sit down a little, which is a plus in the case of small things. Agree, no one needs a backpack or rug that will suddenly stretch out and turn into a shapeless rag. And to be sure to avoid shrinkage, wash your knitted artwork in cold water below 30 degrees using a mild detergent. If you are going to wash by hand, rub the item less, and when washing by machine, select a mode with a minimum number of drum revolutions. Instead of regular squeezing, use a cloth dryer: lay knitted product between two towels and roll them into a roll. Then both a fashionable jacket and a cute keychain made of ribbon yarn will serve you for many years!
