New Year's compositions: do-it-yourself winter floristry and festive decor. New Year's compositions on the table, photos and master classes New Year's compositions from pine cones and candles

The tradition of decorating a home with candles dates back to the distant past; from time immemorial it has been believed that candles symbolize the perseverance of the human soul, and also fill the home with light, comfort and warmth. Old Believers believe that on New Year's Day all the candles in the house must be extinguished, and after the chiming clock they must be lit with a new fire (match or lighter). This tradition symbolizes the beginning of a new life period, renewal and rebirth of life. Of course, you can simply place candles around the house, but it’s still better to create harmonious New Year’s compositions with candles, this way we will simultaneously honor age-old traditions and also bring something new and spectacular to the interior design.

What to use as decoration for candles.

  1. Fresh or artificial spruce branches;
  2. Decorative beads;
  3. Christmas tree toys, balls;
  4. Fresh foliage;
  5. Fresh berries;
  6. Nuts, cones, acorns, chestnuts;
  7. Christmas candy - sticks;
  8. Tapes;
  9. Chains;
  10. Tinsel;
  11. Dry twigs;
  12. Artificial Poinsettia Flowers;
  13. Dried fruits.

Birch logs as a candlestick.

In birch log houses of different heights, it is necessary to create shallow holes with a chisel, the size of a candle-tablet. Place candles in these holes (it’s better not to go far from such a candlestick, safety comes first).

Decorate candles with candies and Christmas sticks.

An impressive composition can be achieved by decorating a large candle with Christmas sticks. We place candy sticks around the perimeter of the candle and tie it with a beautiful ribbon.

Compositions of candles and fir branches.

To create a composition, it is enough to place a branched fir branch on a flat surface (table, tray or shelf), and place three red candles of different sizes in the center. As an addition, you can use fresh pine cones, Christmas tree decorations or New Year's figurines.

Branched candelabra for candles.

If you have a spectacular candelabra in your home, then it should definitely be used to create a stunning composition. For example, in addition to candles, a branched candelabra can be complemented with Christmas tree balls, beads and earrings.

Composition with tinsel.

Place a transparent vase on a plate, drip wax from a lit candle into it, and glue the candle itself to it. Place red matte tinsel around the vase and cover the perimeter of the tinsel with large beads.

Candles decorated with Christmas balls.

Select a vase to match the color of the candle; for example, you can match a purple bowl with a lavender candle. Place the candle in a bowl, and fill the space around it with the smallest colored Christmas tree balls.

Compositions with candles and glasses.

This decor is ideal for a holiday table. Pour some water into tall straight glasses and place a spruce, thuja or fir branch. Place a tablet candle in small transparent gravy boats nearby.

Compositions with candles lined up in a row.

Place four bright candles “in height” on a rectangular dish, and place Christmas balls of matching color in front.

Composition with red candles.

Place two large red candles on a red dish, place artificial Poinsettia flowers nearby or sprinkle glitter and place a large Christmas tree ball.

Composition of candles with viburnum branches.

Place a sprig of ripe and green viburnum in a ceramic or clay glass, and place a candle in the center.

Candle in a glass with thuja branches.

Place thuja branches in a glass and place a candle in the center.

Composition of candles and dried fruits.

You string various dried fruits onto a thread: slices of apple, orange, tangerine, as well as cinnamon sticks, tie both ends together, forming a wreath. Place a large candle in the center of the dried fruit ring.

Candles in the form of cones.

By themselves, such candles look festive, so it’s enough to line them up on an oblong dish.

Composition in a glass with a floating candle.

Pour water into a large glass, place leaves of viburnum, hawthorn or lingonberry on the bottom, and on top the fruits of one of these trees or shrubs, “drop” a floating candle in the center. The entire composition in a glass can be placed on a spruce branch.

Spruce wreath with candles.

A ring is formed from spruce branches so that it does not fall apart, wrap it with transparent fishing line, place four candles around the perimeter, and decorate the composition with decorative beads and Christmas tree balls.

Candle among nuts.

Pour various nuts into a transparent vase: walnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, and also add several bright orange fruits - small kumquats. Place a candle in a transparent glass on top. Other examples with nuts can be seen in the photo below.

New Year's candle decor:

New Year's compositions with candles are quite easy to implement, and besides, this activity is very exciting; after the first composition, you definitely want to create at least a couple of other even more spectacular decorative elements based on the use of candles.

The Decorol website reminds its readers that we now have the opportunity to subscribe to receive news; the subscription form is located in the sidebar.

Stylish and well-executed interior decor speaks of the excellent sense of taste of the owners, and the original decor with hand-made candles emphasizes the individuality of the home.

Today you will learn how to make a candle yourself, spending a minimum of time and money.

All that is required from you is just desire! In this article we will talk not only about all the stages and subtleties of creating a candle, but also consider some ideas for decorating candles that will delight the eyes of both hosts and guests.

Making candles with your own hands

It may be hard to believe, but making and decorating candles with your own hands does not require any expensive or rare materials.

We will use only what is in the arsenal of any housewife. So, for work we will need:

  • A vessel in which we will melt the wax;
  • Any shapes for candles;
  • A large container with which we will make a water bath;
  • Wooden sticks (2 pcs.);
  • Various details for decorating finished candles (lace, beads, shells, cinnamon sticks, coffee beans);
  • Any wax pencils (crayons will do);
  • If available, use the stubs of used candles; if not, use regular paraffin candles;
  • Paper yarn (cotton threads).

This is all that will be useful to us in creating our own wax candle. Who knows, what if we end up with a real decorative miracle?

Making your own wick

If you have ever watched a master class on candle decor, you know that the work of creating candles begins with making the wick. Regardless of what kind of candle you want to get in the end - wax, paraffin or gel, you won’t be able to do without a wick.

In order to make a wick with our own hands, we only need one single element - ordinary cotton thread without any impurities. If you want variety, take colored yarn, the result will surprise you!

As for the design of the wick, there are several interesting options:

Most often a flat wick is used. It consists of many thin threads intertwined with each other. As a result, three main threads are formed from them, which are also intertwined. This wick is the most versatile and is suitable for any type of candle.

A crocheted braid is a very original solution. This wick is suitable for different types of candles and different materials.

A twisted wick is made like this: three parts of the yarn are soaked in a saline solution and left for 10-12 hours. When the yarn is dry, twist all the parts together until you get the wick of the desired thickness.

If you don’t want to bother with making a wick, just take it out of a purchased household candle. Don't forget to saturate the wick with wax in advance to get a beautiful and even flame.

Selecting the shape for the future candle

Let's start with the good news - there are no restrictions or strict rules in this matter. Your imagination will have plenty of room to run wild!

The most convenient are ready-made silicone molds, but if you decide to do everything yourself, you can easily use improvised materials. Yogurt boxes, tin cans, plastic cups are all perfect for making candles at home.

For example, let's take a plastic cup from your favorite yogurt. At the bottom, in the middle, you need to make a hole with a thick needle - this will be the place where we will insert the pre-prepared wick.

On one side of it, which remains outside the glass, you should tie a knot - this is done so that when pouring wax, it does not leak through the hole in the glass.

We place any wooden or plastic stick on the top of our form and tie the free end of the wick to it. Make sure that it is sufficiently tensioned and located exclusively in the center - this will ensure even burning and melting of the candle.

Let's give the candles some color

If you just wanted to learn the technology of making candles at home, then this step could be omitted. If you need unique candles to decorate your room, don’t neglect coloring.

For this purpose we will take children's colored wax crayons. They are the best option because... do not dissolve in water, mix well with paraffin and will not “delight” you with a surprise in the form of an incomprehensible sediment at the bottom.

The technology for adding color to a candle is very simple: you just need to select a chalk of the desired color and grate it. Mix the resulting shavings with cinders using a wooden stick and send them to melt. This seemingly simple process plays a big role in decorating candles and should not be skipped.

Filling the candle

Take a regular tin can and lightly squeeze it around the edges - this will make it easier to pour out the candle. In the same jar we put everything from which the candle will be made and send it all to a water bath.

All you have to do is wait until the material is completely melted and you can start pouring. Remember that you should pour the candle into the mold gradually - first one layer, then the next and so on.

When the mold is completely filled, let the candle cool at room temperature. After this, the candle can be easily removed and the excess wick can be cut off, leaving about 1 cm. Our candle is completely ready - you can start decorating.

Decorative candles for every smell and taste

In addition to regular paraffin or wax candles, you can try to make more original options:

Gel candles. Making them yourself will not be difficult, because the recipe is already written on the packages of gel wax - use it! A much more interesting process is decorating gel candles. Any decorations that you like are laid out on the bottom of the mold, and then everything is filled with gel wax. The effect is simply incredible!

Aroma candles. As you know, hand-made candles not only have an aesthetic function, but are also able to exude the favorite aroma of the owners of the house. Add a drop of aromatic oil to the candle base, and you can arrange a whole aromatherapy session at home!

The interior of the entire room depends on the correct decoration of candles. If you want to make the design of the room truly original, photos of the decor of candles made and decorated with your own hands will help you with this.

Choose the option that you like, listen to yourself, experiment, create and you will definitely be able to create a real wax masterpiece.

Photos of candle decor

Good afternoon – today our article will be devoted to New Year’s compositions. This means that we will make up with you small ISLANDS OF NEW YEAR'S HAPPINESS. I'll show you how such small compositions can decorate the New Year's table. Or how to use them to decorate a room - giving it the spirit of anticipation for a fabulous holiday.

We will have...

  • small TABLETABLE New Year's compositions with dishes... With candles... Compositions from natural materialEdible New Year's crafts...
  • ...there will be HANGING compositions to decorate a window or wall...
  • ...and there will be GREAT crafts to decorate the fireplace area or decorate part of the room.

So, let's see how you can decorate your house for the New Year...

TABLE compositions - with BEADS, BALLS and DISHES.

The simplest idea is to take a beautiful wide vase or a ceramic SALAD BOWL - put candles of different sizes in it.... To the bottom place Christmas tree decorations between the candles and beautifully distribute a long thread of glass beads - You can see an example of this idea in the left photo below.– everything here is designed in a single silver-gold color. But you can have a blue composition... or red... to match the color of your service and tablecloth on the New Year's table.

Also... (right photo below - look how original...) you need to take round cake stand(on a high leg). And on this round “podium” place wine glasses, glasses, vases– which are filled with Christmas tree decorations (small balls), beads, glass crystals.

Not necessary to make such “New Year’s tableware” compositions in one color scheme. It can be a bright combination of three or four colors. Moreover, you can arrange them chaotically... or you can GROUP by shade(as in the left photo below) - where Christmas tree decor in blue tones lies in one pile... purple tinsel is collected in another... red... yellow... green - all this forms rainbow arrangement of spruce toys on one large platter.

And you can use not only juicy spruce balls as bright colors - but also bright DICE-COLORED LIQUIDS in pot-bellied decanters and glass sauceboats(see left photo below).

Also... you can add TRIANGULAR CONICAL SHAPES to the round balls - that is, buy bright wrapping paper (in the gift department)... roll it up bright cones... and place them here and there in our composition– it turns out to be an imitation of New Year trees. If still these cones decorate with glue rhinestones(sold at any newsstand - rhinestone stickers) - then our Christmas tree cones will be very elegant. This is also a simple idea.

They also look good in compositions for the New Year’s table - tall flat vases for fruits and cakes... They happen single-tier (as in the lilac photo below) ... or multi-tiered (as in the red example from the photo below).

They can also be decorated with a scattering of New Year's balls and colored lozenges.

You can also turn regular wine glasses upside down.– and their flat base legs will make an excellent candle stand. Under the “head” of an inverted glass you can put a flower, glass beads or a scattering of small tiny New Year’s balls (such tiny balls are sold at any New Year’s fair).

Do you know? ... how to put balls into a glass without spilling them, When will you turn the glass upside down? It's very simple - you need to pour balls into a glass and put a cardboard on top. Turn the glass over onto the table - remove the cardboard from under it - and you're done: all the balls remain under the glass. And we get a beautiful New Year's candlestick.

You can also use a GARLAND in New Year’s table compositions... It can be placed to the bottom of colored vases and wine glasses. Or hide among the tinsel, beads and floral material (leaves, flowers).

Or you can buy crystal Christmas trees (during the season they are sold in almost every major store) or Christmas tree lights. Place such a tree in the center of the future composition - surround it with candles and other New Year's decorations and... light all this splendor in the evening. The fire of the candles will be reflected in the crystal of the Christmas tree, in the shiny silver of the tray... in the candlestick cups wrapped in foil.

You can use not a tray as a base... and a WICKER BASKET...And add to standard candles and balls ribbon... and fan, in the same colors as the Christmas tree decorations.

Or you can do it without any vessel or container at all... just make a beautiful display on the table New Year's tools...

Place heart-shaped balls... add fir branches... pine cones... candle tablets... dried orange slices... and fragrant bunches of cinnamon sticks tied with a ribbon

Look good compositions with a large star... For this alone, it’s worth buying it... or you can make a beautiful New Year’s star with your own hands... I’ll tell you exactly how in a separate article and then a link to it will appear here.

And if you find DEER FIGURES on sale... then you can make a beautiful craft on a flat dish covered with moss... with a small artificial spruce tree and acorns...

or in a ROUND BELLY WIDE VASE (or aquarium) with SALT poured into it (like snow), stick pine cones (like Christmas trees) into a salt snowdrift... and insert a white candle... which in the evening will illuminate this small piece of the winter world... with handsome deer.

New Year's compositions - made by YOUR OWN HANDS.

You can make beautiful elements of New Year's decor with your own hands. It could be CHRISTMAS TREE STUNNED WITH SPARKLES.

It’s easy to do – just roll up a bag of thick paper – cut off the bottom edge of the cone (so that it stands evenly on the table). We coat the cone with silicate glue and sprinkle with shiny sequins... The gaps between the sequins can be filled with manicure sprinkles (it is small enough to cover all the tiny gaps).

If you feel sorry for money for sequins(such a quantity will be quite expensive) ... you can do it simpler and cheaper. We buy regular ones in the store fluffy foil garland... and chop it all up "terry" with scissors– we get a whole bunch of chalk glitter – and you can sprinkle the Christmas tree cone with them.

You can also make a WICKED CHRISTMAS-WET...(Here as in the left photo above... pale golden, see?) ... It’s also done superbly - I’m just attaching step-by-step instructions below.

Master class on making a Christmas tree from threads.

1. Take the same paper cone - a bottle of silicate glue (old Soviet). Golden threads (or beige threads) are smaller in size... and a little thicker in size (you can use cord or twine).

2. Make a hole in the glue bottle (right in the side)- through both sides - we thread our thread into the hole (using a needle) - and it turns out that our thread is quietly pulled through the glue (wetting evenly). That is, we have built in this way... a mini-machine that creates a glue thread. We place the spool of thread on the bottom of a glass jar (so that it does not jump around the table).

3. And now we will use our paper cone entangle with this glue thread– we just pull it through the bottle... it immediately comes out coated with glue... and we wind it in a chaotic manner on our conical Christmas tree blank.

4. When the main winding is driven in, the entire product can be sprinkle with gold dust(this could be nail polish... it could be a can of gold paint... it could be a gold garland cut into small pieces)

We also coat the cord with glue (you don’t have to push it into a bottle of glue) but simply immerse the cord in a bowl of glue. Take it out and apply it in a FLIGHT LINE from the top of the tree to the very bottom. And do it IN SIX DIFFERENT PLACES. And then use this cord to make a circle-ring at the very base of the Christmas tree.

6. After drying (5-6 hours), you can carefully peel off the paper cone from the openwork web of frozen threads... Just poke the paper through the holes - it should come off well (if somewhere it’s difficult to come off, you can moisten it with water - ONLY from the back inner side of the cone.

You can make original ones Christmas trees and snowmen made from balls of cotton threads... The result is a stylish composition in snowy tones. From white wire you can make accessories for snowmen (shades, handles, smoking pipes).

You can collect cones and paint them in gold and silver paint y (from a can) - and place mixed with balls in tall cylindrical vases.

Or you can make these yourself beautiful Christmas trees made from Christmas balls. I’ll now tell you how to make such a Christmas tree with your own hands in 30 minutes (without a drop of glue... that is, dry work, you can trust the children, they won’t get dirty).

Everything here is simple and really fast.

Step 1. Make a base in the form of a cone. We take thick paper (we buy a sheet of drawing paper at the office supply store). We take a large dish (round, the size of the dish can be 2 times the sheet) - put the dish on the sheet and trace it with a pencil, so that it turns out to be HALF A CIRCLE. We cut out half a circle and roll it into a cone; we fasten the cone flaps with a stapler or double-sided tape.

Step 2. Fill the surface of the cone with large balls. We take the wire and pierce it bottom of the cone- we string Christmas balls onto wire tails and onto metal ears. We wrap the wire with balls around the bottom of the cone, the balls are distributed evenly around the cone, in a tight row. Next, when it reaches the closure of the circle, we pass the wire a couple of times through the place where the wire comes out of the cone (that is, we close the circle). And now we make the second circle (it will be higher than the first). We string the balls again and again wrap the wire with the balls around the cone. We make as many of these wire rings with strung balls as needed in order to close the cone from top to bottom.

Step 3. Fill the holes with small balls. Between the big balls we will have gap holes. They need to be covered with smaller balls. To do this, cut the wire into short pieces and thread a ball into each piece separately. And we will attach each such ball separately. We pierce the cone with a wire in the place of the hole - in two places - we twist the tails of the wire with the hanging ball into a knot inside the cone. double-sided tape - even if a child pulls on a small ball, the wire will not tear the puncture site.

SWEET New Year's compositions with a gingerbread house.

OR... you can make DELICIOUS NEW YEAR CRAFTS with your own hands... for example, this Christmas one gingerbread hut house.

This house sets on a rectangular cake... so that it is convenient to carry... And if you make several gingerbread houses, you can build a small village... If you place such a village on a mirror (as in the photo below), you get the feeling that the houses are standing on the shore of a winter lake... A very beautiful composition.

You can make a THREE-TIER NEW YEAR PENDANT (as we see in the pink photo below)…

Your child can do this (it’s so simple)... you need to buy soft aluminum wire(it’s very cheap in any hardware store or kiosk) and fold it right away THREE RINGS of different sizes... Connect the ring-tiers with a pyramid (using the same wire) and wrap it all in a garland of foil... and then run an ELECTRIC GARLAND with LEDs along the same rings. It turns out to be a beautiful New Year's chandelier.

And it's even easier to do PENDANT MADE OF THICK CORRUGATED CARDBOARD. This is exactly what we see in the left photo above (with purple flowers)…

Let's take it dense cardo n from the box - cut out a circle... in a circle poke three holes- into the holes thread the ribbon(our pendant will hang on it). We arrange on this circle to composition of moss, twigs, dry herbs and flowers and small candlesticks (necessarily in glass cups) so that the branches do not burst into flames. (Or lay out an electric garland). And we get a beautiful New Year's pendant.

Here are more options decorating a New Year's hanging composition... You can make your own design - your own... to suit your overall style... to match the color that you have chosen as the main color of the Christmas tree.

And you can make everything easier ... tie balls on strings to the chandelier... make the threads of different lengths - so that each ball occupies its own SEPARATE AIR SPACE and does not come into contact with another ball.

I also showed an interesting version of the suspension in the article

And in the same ideological vein you can make a New Year's hanging window decoration . On the same cornice where the curtains hang we attach bright ribbons (or white ropes) and tie Christmas tree decorations or homemade flat stars made of gold cardboard to them.

We also make sure that we make ribbons and strings of DIFFERENT LENGTHs - so that each toy in the row occupies ITS LEVEL, its own place - so that they do not crowd in a row like cows at a watering hole.

First think how do you want to see this New Year's holiday row on the window -

  1. lay it out on the carpet toys and ribbons...
  2. adjust(directly on the floor) the length of the ribbons and the level of the toy’s position...
  3. and when you like the composition, then start transferring it, ONE PIECE at a time, to the curtain rod...

Or you can make a hanging composition not near the window opening... and at the wall... Hang spruce paws from above (directly on the wall)... and beautifully lower the strings from the spruce legs with fancy balloons... and cookies. The main thing is to monitor from time to time... whether the decorative New Year's cookies have disappeared from the wall into the warm womb of your little ones.

Well, now it’s the turn of the candles...

Compositions WITH NEW YEAR'S CANDLES.

Candles for the New Year are the main thing. Without them, New Year's Eve is no different from non-New Year's Eve. There should be candles - and they should flicker... And we will now look at what beautiful compositions can be made with them...

You can take a long plate (for example, a herring bowl, if there is a picture of fish in the herring bowl, cover it with foil)... Place the balls on a plate... put candles in a row... For additional style, you can cut one long candle with a knife into pieces of different sizes - AND ARRANGE IN ORDER from large to small so that you get steps...

You can just randomly arrange candles on the table or mantelpiece (if you have a fireplace). And you can still make beautiful ones candlesticks from ordinary glasses.

The master class here is simple... We buy from stationery a couple of jars of stained glass paint And one tube with a stained glass outline(the outline is a thick paste)... On the glasses we draw cells with an outline (for example, square ones like in the photo below). Let the outline dry - 4-5 hours... and fill the cells of the outline with different colors of stained glass paint... If the instructions on the package require baking, then bake such a painted glass in the oven - temperature 120 degrees (average is obtained)... 5 minutes.

You can decorate a New Year's candle SPRINKLING sequins or sparkling powder for decorating manicure or beads...

For this The surface of the candle must first be made sticky... You can hold the necessary places over the fire... so that the side of the candle heats up and begins to melt slightly... And while the melted side is soft and sticky, pour the sprinkles on it and gently press it down, pressing it into the soft side of the candle. It turns out an elegant decorated New Year's candle.

You can also use candles place on upside down crystal glasses... and scatter imitation snowballs below. Do you know how to make snowballs?

How to make beautiful snowballs from felt or cotton wool.

There are two ways. The first way is cotton wool, put it in a bowl with pva glue- and when it’s wet, we roll the ball with our hands and put it out to dry overnight...

The second way is to buy felting felt... Pour soapy water into a bowl(we use any white soap) - tear off a lump of felt. We immerse it in soapy water and roll the wet piece into a ball... The longer we roll... the harder we press with our palms, the denser we will get a felt snowball. As you roll, you can add pieces of felt to it - if you want a bigger ball. They will stick to it - like lumps of snow stick to a snowball. And we roll it up... we roll it up. Children will really enjoy rolling these soapy, wet balls of felt.

Such lumps can be pierced with twigs- and it will look like twigs in the snow...

Can you make FLOATING NEW YEAR CANDLES? . They are sold as round candles...or triangular floating cone shaped candles.

A container with water for floating candles can be decorated with beads, branches of flowers and shrubs. Such compositions look especially beautiful when decorated in a red style (red berries, beads, candles)... I have collected many ideas on red decor for the New Year in a separate article

Can be done red apple candlesticks , and decorate with a ribbon and a sprig of evergreen fir. You can tie a candle with a bunch of reeds or long candy sticks.

You can put candles in small flower pots (tiny ones like catus) and decorate them with moss and pine cones.

And since we have already touched on the topic of moss and cones, it’s worth moving to a new paragraph...

New Year's compositions are made from NATURAL materials.

Can you make a candlestick with your own hands? from thick SAWS of large branches or logs. In such a cut of the log you need to make a recess (drill or gouge) and insert a candle into it. You can paint such saw cuts with gold paint.

You can make a floral New Year's composition by simply placing natural material on the bottom of the container, forming a dry bouquet of leaves, pine cones, or herbs.

Can be used as a base beautiful wooden box... cover it with a lace napkin (or satin fabric), place branches of pine needles, pine cones, New Year's balls... You can also make New Year's cones with your own hands - in a special article

Or maybe from natural material? make Christmas trees. Very simple New Year's crafts. When thin branches... flakes of bark from a tree... white airy flakes of cotton wool or white yarn are glued onto a paper cone.

LARGE compositions for home decoration for the New Year.

New Year's compositions are not only tabletop... You can make large decorative islands- placing them on the floor by the fireplace... or in the corner of the room next to the Christmas tree... on the flight of stairs... or on the porch at the front entrance to the house.

You can make a New Year's composition from a sled... from a cart. You just need more fir legs, red ribbons, Christmas tree decorations, pine cones and more...

Here are some ideas on how to make your own New Year's compositions to decorate your home for the New Year.

Preparations for New Year's creativity

Before you start creating a New Year's composition with your own hands, you need to think carefully and select all the necessary materials. The most popular in festive winter bouquets and compositions are:

  1. closed pine and spruce cones, which help set the desired tone of the composition and create texture
  2. spectacular cedar cones for decoration
  3. open lush Christmas tree cones
  4. natural dry or artificial bunches of rowan and viburnum for bright accents
  5. pomegranate fruits, as a symbol of life and fertility, and simply to create a festive mood
  6. vines and thin flexible twigs give the composition a rustic flair and also serve as an excellent basis for arrangement
  7. wreath - the perfect shape for a hanging Christmas arrangement
  8. natural and artificial branches of coniferous trees (spruce, pine, fir) - the main symbol of the New Year holidays
  9. dried tomatoes - for piquancy

Having been inspired by the idea of creating an original festive composition for the New Year, you will have another wonderful reason to go with the whole family to the forest... to hunt! Only we will not hunt for little bunnies and other living creatures, but for all sorts of things: useful and useless, beautiful and wonderful... everything that can be useful for our New Year's creativity. The walk promises to be exciting! At such moments, looking out for special twigs and cones, you feel like some kind of witch-witch, selecting magical ingredients for her witchcraft rituals, or maybe like a good sorceress or a forest nymph...

If you are lucky, during a forest treasure hunt you will be able to get colorful bunches of rowan and viburnum, which the birds have not yet had time to feast on. Look around! Real treasures are right under your feet and under your nose! This, at first glance, the most ordinary and inconspicuous bump in your hand-made masterpiece can become a Christmas tree or a funny hedgehog. And the tinder fungus can make a wonderful vase-stand. Walks like these are a great way to develop your imagination!

The basis for the New Year's composition can be dry branches, bark, decorative pieces of roots, sections of tree trunks, gnarled vines, metal pallets and trays, ceramic and glass vases, a frame made of wire or rods, pieces of foam plastic.

Perfect for the arrangement are pine and spruce branches, mossy branches, dry larch and linden branches, decorative branches of berry bushes with preserved fruits, dry roots, flowers and herbs, dried fruits, berries and vegetables, as well as fresh flowers - cut or in pots, moss.

Winter floristry in New Year's compositions

Simple holiday decor

The simplest, but very warm and touching composition can be made from a decorative candle in the shape of a cone, surrounded by a round dance of beautiful smaller natural cones. To enhance the effect, the cones can be coated with gold or silver paint. If you need the buds to open, hold them over steam. If, on the other hand, they need to remain tightly closed in a warm room, generously spray the not yet bloomed buds with strong hold hairspray. Cones and leafless branches can be decorated in an original way in a snow-white winter style by dipping them in a hot, saturated salt solution, then taking them out into the cold (can be on a balcony or veranda) and leaving them there for a day. Amazing metamorphoses will occur with cones and twigs - they will be covered with amazing sparkling “ice” crystals.

New Year's compositions with branches

If you don’t have any special outlandish materials on hand, and you don’t feel like hunting for treasures in the forest or simply don’t have time, use dry branches painted with white or silver paint and decorate them with cute Christmas tree decorations. Who would have thought that dry bare branches could look so amazing in New Year's decor! From large branches you can create a stunning creative Christmas tree or anti-Christmas tree. If you don't have a suitable stand or vase, you can use a regular glass jar. Place a piece of foam at the bottom to stick the branches in, and decorate the jar by wrapping it in a beautiful piece of fabric and tying it with a satin ribbon.

Delightful tabletop masterpieces

Tabletop compositions are the most popular. New Year's arrangements for the table are collected on round or oblong flat vases, reminiscent of ordinary plates. A pot with holiday flowers (crocuses, muscari, hyacinths) will look great in the center of the vase, or you can place a bouquet of fresh cut flowers on a needle holder. In order for the composition to be harmonious, the tallest element should not exceed 30 cm. The New Year’s arrangement is supplemented with fir branches, candles, toys, silver rain and “frost” on the branches (crushed foam placed on glue). The holders and the pot with forcing are masked with moss.

To keep things simple, you can simply plant beautiful pine cones in pots and cover the “soil” with moss. Simply masterpiece!

Particular attention should be paid to the selection of a stand for the composition, since it itself can become a decorative element. A glass or crystal vase or dish is ideal for elegantly ceremonial compositions. Stands made from tree cuts, tinder fungi, or intricate roots and snags look very original. The stand can accommodate the most unpredictable items, from painted boxes and tureens to felt boots and vintage boots. If the stand has an unsightly appearance, it can be decorated with fabric, pine branches, fluffy rain, or sprinkled with foam “snow.”

New Year's bouquets look great in a glass vase on a leg. The branches are strengthened on a needle holder or on a moss pad. Candles are attached to the bends of the branches using wire. The wire is covered with moss. The bouquet is decorated with Christmas tree decorations, tinsel and flowers.

Pine and spruce branches in New Year's compositions go perfectly with fresh flowers. The best options for a winter bouquet are roses, chrysanthemums and carnations. If freshly cut flowers are used, most often the arrangement is complemented by a beautiful vase or vessel, which allows you to place the flowers in water and conveniently secure them. If you can’t find a vase that harmonizes with the composition in spirit, you will have to put the flowers in an ordinary jar of water and skillfully disguise it. You can also buy a floral sponge and special cones at a flower shop, or replace them with small test tubes and medicine bottles.

Twigs of coniferous trees look excellent in winter bouquets with dried flowers: immortelle, astilbe, yarrow, kermek, eryngium, physalis, mordovnik, cattail, nigella, flax and various cereals. Dried flowers are so impressive and decorative that in a festive winter arrangement you can do without pine needles altogether, giving the role of the first violin to dried flowers. Even if you didn’t have time to prudently stock up on dried flowers in the summer, don’t despair. He who seeks will always find! Go to any vacant lot. Take a closer look at the blackened grass sticking out from under the snow - this is exactly what we need! Angelica, quinoa, reed, yarrow... Real treasures! Do not be alarmed by their unsightly, far from festive appearance. Here is another opportunity to give free rein to your imagination and turn on the wizard in you. At home, dry the plucked herbs and transform them by painting them with light gouache or tempera, plating them with silver or gilding. It’s more convenient to do this with a spray can, but you can get by with a regular brush. And you will be happy!

Light plant elements, such as dried flowers or small twigs, can be secured by sticking them into special porous oases, a moss cushion or regular foam. The foam is attached to the base with wood glue. Pieces of moss, tinder fungi and individual twigs are secured in a similar manner. For massive branches, it is most convenient to use kenzan - a metal holder in the form of a lead plate with brass nails. If you can’t get your hands on real kenzan, at home you can replace it with a large potato tuber into which composite branches are stuck. If the basis for the composition is a wicker basket, its bottom should be lined with plastic wrap, and a holder should be placed on top and the bouquet should be carefully assembled.

Beautiful decorative candles will help add warmth and soulfulness to the New Year's arrangement. They go well with pine needles, cones, Christmas balls, natural pebbles, glass, and water. In a composition with candles, you can also use an original candlestick, decorating it in a festive way with beads and small New Year’s toys. Candles, complemented by pine branches sprinkled with “snow” made of polystyrene foam or salt, will help create a fabulous unity of “ice and fire.”

Figurines of animals - symbols of the coming year according to the Eastern calendar - are appropriate in New Year's compositions. Soft toys with long hair do not go well with fluffy pine needles, but porcelain, plastic, glass, stone and clay figurines will be very useful. The central element of the New Year's composition can also be a beautiful Christmas tree toy - a bell, a bird, a fish, a golden cone...

The New Year is almost here, and to create a special aura, you can create New Year's compositions for the table. Photos and DIY master classes can be viewed on the Internet.

By decorating your interior with them, you will create a festive mood for yourself and your family.

These can be small Christmas trees made of candy, New Year's table compositions made of dry twigs, compositions of spruce and pine cones, rowan bunches. In florist shops and souvenir shops you can buy a ready-made New Year's composition, and it seems that only professionals can come up with such beauty. In fact, by creating New Year's decorations with your children, you will end up with very original masterpieces. You can learn how to make compositions with your own hands at master classes held in creative workshops or watch on the Internet.

Material for creating tabletop compositions

To create them, you need to think carefully about the design and select the appropriate materials. The basis of the composition for the table with your own hands is natural material (spruce or pine branches, cones, dried berries, fruits, dry branches of deciduous trees), dishes (glasses, plates, baskets, trays).

Auxiliary materials you will need:

  • glue gun;
  • twine or other rope;
  • bright wrapping paper;
  • foam;
  • floral sponge;
  • paints and brushes and so on.

Types of compositions

  • Christmas tree ikebana.

You will need:

  • beautiful wicker basket;
  • spruce branches (twigs with cones will look beautiful);
  • floral sponge;
  • decorations (toys, tinsel, garland).

We place a sponge in the basket, stick the twigs into it, carefully forming them.

We try to make sure that the sponge is not visible; we disguise it with artificial moss or tinsel. Decorate with garland or toys. You can also place small gifts there. You must remember to water the sponge, and then the impromptu Christmas tree and the Christmas tree aroma will delight you for a long time.

  • Christmas tree with sparkles

Making a Christmas tree is not difficult. We take thick paper, make a bag, cut off the bottom part - we get a cone. Then we apply PVA glue on it and sprinkle it with sequins, small gaps with glitter for manicure or sprinkle with hairspray with glitter.

  • Do-it-yourself Christmas tree-web, master class on making:

We make a cone out of paper, take gold-colored threads of medium thickness and twine. Pour PVA glue into a bowl, moisten it generously and begin immediately wrapping it around the cone in a chaotic manner. When the thread is wound, sprinkle the Christmas tree with glitter (you can use nail polish). Next, take a rope (twine) and paint it gold using a can of paint. When it dries, we dip it in glue and begin to wind it around the cone from top to bottom, making a ring at the base.

When everything is dry, carefully separate the paper cone from the threads (from the inside of the Christmas tree).

  • Christmas tree made of wire

We take a thick (5 mm thick) copper wire and begin to form a Christmas tree in a helical shape in the shape of a cone. Then you can decorate it with tinsel.

New Year's compositions with candles on the table look very beautiful.

  • Composition of candles and pine cones

Take a decorative candle in the shape of a cone, pine cones (to make them open, hold them over steam). We paint the cones silver or you can decorate them like this: dip them in a “strong” saline solution and take them out into the cold. The cones will turn out frosted with crystals. We take a base made of thick cardboard and glue all the elements using a glue gun.

  • Compositions of fir branches and candles

They are usually placed in low vases, on wide dishes or trays. A tall red wax candle or a gel candle in a glass is placed in the center of the composition. As an addition to the composition, you can use oranges decorated with clove seeds.

  • Candlesticks made from glasses

Turn long-stemmed wine glasses upside down - their base will serve as an original candle stand. Under the glass itself you can place a living flower, large beads or small Christmas balls.

  • Composition of candles and balloons

We use a gold-colored metal tray as a base, place a fan in the center with the wide part down, place candles in candlesticks (wax and gel) around them and dilute them with balls in the same color scheme.

  • "Snow-covered" candlestick

To create this composition you will need glasses or shot glasses, colored candles, sugar or salt, and stationery glue.

Cover the glasses with glue, sprinkle with salt or sugar, wait until it dries, and place a candle inside.

  • Floating candles

You will need: a glass goblet (wine glass) with water, small flat candles with a foil base, fresh flowers, beads. We tint the water with food coloring, place a flower and beads at the bottom of the glass, pour in the colored water and lower the candle on top.

  • Composition with flowers and candle

We place a long candle in a glass candlestick on a wide plate and arrange flowers around it.

  • Candles can also be placed in beautiful glasses from different sets and placed on a wooden stand.
  • Candle steps

You can use herring fish as a base. You will also need candles and Christmas tree balls.

To make it decorative, we use candles of different heights or cut one long candle into several different heights, place Christmas tree balls in a plate and line up the candles in a row, starting from the longest to the shortest (it turns out to be a stepped row).

  • Candlesticks made from glasses.

The master class is simple. We buy stained glass paints (three jars are enough) and a tube of stained glass contour (to prevent mixing and spreading of paints). We apply a pattern on the glasses in the form of square cells. It dries for about 5 hours, then we paint them with stained glass paint. Heat the oven to 130 degrees, bake the glass for 5-10 minutes.

  • Arrangement of pine cones and Christmas balls

To create it, you need fir or pine cones (we paint them with silver or gold paint), and then we put them in tall glass vases mixed with balls.

  • Composition with deer figures.

We take a flat dish, cover it with moss, put a small artificial Christmas tree in the center, sprinkle acorns, maybe nuts, and attach deer figures.

Or you can take a wide vase on a long leg, pour salt into it (snowdrifts), place pine cones (Christmas trees) there, attach deer figures and put a candle.

  • Dried flower decoration

Dried flowers look very impressive when creating New Year's compositions. You can use them without adding pine branches, so they will look more decorative. If you didn’t have time to stock up on a herbarium in the summer, you can also find dried herbs (yarrow, wormwood) in the winter. We dry them after the snow and paint them with gouache or spray paint, preferably in New Year's colors. We stick it into the foam base or sponge. We take a basket, put the composition there and decorate the bottom with tinsel or moss.

  • Composition of coniferous branches with snow

You can take a large vase, pour water into it and place spruce (cedar, pine) branches, decorate with artificial snow (you can sprinkle with crushed foam or pieces of cotton wool). And put “lumps” of snow around the vase or pierce them with twigs (like snow on the branches). There are two ways to make lumps:

  • Pour PVA glue into a bowl, tear off pieces of cotton wool, dip them in glue and roll into balls. Let it dry overnight.
  • We purchase felt for felting. Pour water into a bowl, add soap (any kind will do). Then we tear off a piece from the layer of felt, moisten it in this water and begin to roll; the more we press the felt with our palms, the denser the ball becomes. By gradually adding felt, you can increase its size.

Edible decorations

This type of decoration is the most fragrant and delicious.

  • Gingerbread house, made according to the original recipe, with lighting. Sponge cake recipe: honey, sugar syrup and softened butter are kneaded until smooth, then add flour, eggs, soda on the tip of a knife, spices (cinnamon, cloves, ground ginger and nutmeg, cardamom, lemon juice).

When the cakes have cooled, cut out the parts for the house, place an LED strip on a rectangular stand (or tray), assemble, fill with sour cream or cover with white mastic. When the lights in the room are dimmed, the shimmering of the house creates a magical mood.

  • Or you can make several small houses and place them on a mirror surface (metal tray), you will get a village standing on the river bank.

By preparing your New Year's table, decorating it with compositions, you create a festive mood for your loved ones.
