TECHNOLOGY FOR CUTTING POLYETHYLENE BAGS

There are several ways to cut bags and garbage bags.
FIRST METHOD - CUTTING IN RINGS
I don’t cut all the bags at once, as this is a very tedious process and it’s not always possible to immediately determine the desired width of the tape. And I knit different parts of the bag from ribbons of different widths. To cut, I take several bags at once and stack 2 to 4 pieces on top of each other. This depends on the thickness of the film in the bags. I only take bags with very thick film one at a time. I fold these bags lengthwise several times, so that the width of these folded bags is not wide, about 10 centimeters. If it is wider, then cutting is not convenient. I take a ruler - it can be from 2 to 3.5 cm wide, or a template of the required width. The rulers should not be long, as it will be inconvenient to cut the bags. In addition to plastic rulers, I cut several templates of different widths - 1cm, 1.5cm, 4cm, and whatever you need, for example, 3.3cm. I make the template from plastic. I place the desired template on a strip folded from bags and cut along the edge of the template with scissors. I'm starting to knit. I don’t connect all the cut strips at once, but only a few pieces. For me, cutting and joining strips is a very tedious task, and if it is not done right away, it is almost unnoticeable. Yes, if you need strips narrower than the templates, for example 0.75 cm (for finishing leaves, flowers), I cut 1.5 cm strips, and then cut them in half with scissors without a template. Cutting according to a pattern allows you to get strips of exactly the same width, and then the knitting turns out more even, as if from even threads. I keep all the templates and hooks in one box so that I don’t have to look for them when I need them. When I knit, I put all the cut strips, the template, the scissors in a shoe lid or a box with small sides, so I don’t have anything lying around on the table and I can always put off the work by moving this lid to another place and putting a hook there.

When cutting the bags, rings are obtained, which are then connected to each other. With this cutting and joining, a double thread is obtained.

Then I string these rings one after another, but without tightening the knots. And only during the knitting process do I tighten the knot 5-10 cm from the junction. This makes it possible not to accidentally skew the ribbon when tying knots and to avoid correcting this error. To prevent these knots from being visible when knitting, try to leave these knots on the wrong side. If they fall on the front side, undo a few loops and tie a little tighter so that the knot falls on the wrong side.
SECOND METHOD - CUTTING WITH Ribbons IN ONE ADDITION
You can see this cutting method here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESQbELunPZg
With this method, I also use templates to get a ribbon of the same width.
SELECTION OF THE WIDTH OF STRIPES FROM PACKAGES OF DIFFERENT THICKNESS.
If you use bags of different thicknesses in one knitting, then they can be matched, just as they do in threads. Take a short length of ribbon cut from bags of a certain thickness, fold it in half and thread another ribbon cut from bags of a different thickness into the eyelet. like a needle, and fold this ribbon in half. It will look like one thread, first there is a thread from one package, and then from another. After that, stretch this thread between your thumb and forefinger. If they are the same thickness, you will feel it with your fingers when pulling, as well as different thicknesses.

Note! By choosing a color scheme for a future piece of furniture, you can add your own twist to the overall style of the apartment and complement it with an exclusive item.

If in the process of knitting any items there are skeins of yarn left over, you can use them to knit a fun multi-colored rug that will lift your spirits even on gray autumn days. A few hours of free time watching your favorite movie - and your cozy rug is ready!

How can you crochet a rug using regular crochet? Thick yarn or ordinary scraps of fabric will come in handy. Old unnecessary things are taken as the main working material.

You need to rip the selected item apart at the seams and cut it into strips. It is better to start cutting from a corner, and the width of the strips should be within 2 cm. You can increase their width if the finished product should be more massive. It all depends on everyone's preferences. During the process, you must try to cut the fabric so that the strips are as long as possible. Experienced needlewomen advise choosing the width of the strips depending on the thickness of the fabric. Accordingly, the thicker the fabric, the thinner the width of the tape should be.

After the material is prepared, you should carefully tie all the resulting strips into one large ribbon, which you need to wind into a ball.

For a multi-colored rug, stripes of different colors alternate. The more colors you make, the more fun the finished product will be. Before knitting a carpet, you need to decide on the room where it will lie. The product must be in harmony with the color scheme of the room.

For knitting you will need a hook (No. 7 or larger), cast on the required number of air loops. This will give you the width of the future carpet. Next, the knitting process is carried out in single crochets. This is the easiest way. Interesting options for rugs are obtained if you change the colors of the balls every 2-3 rows.

Advice! For beginning needlewomen, it is best to choose a square-shaped rug - this is the easiest option.

Then you can try crocheting a round rug on the floor. If difficulties arise during the work, you can watch video tutorials on how to crochet a carpet.

Knitted rug

How to make a carpet on the floor using a regular cord?

Today, the option of knitting rugs is becoming popular, when polyester cord is taken as the main material. The fact is that such a cord is made on the basis of synthetic fibers, due to which it has a number of significant advantages over other materials:

  • does not deform during use or after washing;
  • will last a long time;
  • does not absorb moisture;
  • does not absorb dust.

Finished products made from this material look very elegant.

Polyester Cord Carpet

How to crochet a carpet from polyester cord? This question can often be heard from needlewomen.

Knitting patterns and patterns can be found in any book on crocheting openwork napkins. In order to determine the length of the cord, it should be taken into account that to knit a product with a diameter of 1 m you will need approximately 800 m of cord. If the carpet will accommodate a large number of volumetric elements, then much more material will be required.

On the Internet you can find a huge number of videos that will tell you in detail and show how to knit a carpet from a cord.

You can knit such a carpet using different shapes, such as a circle, semicircle or oval. It all depends on the future location of the finished product. In order for the finished product to be in the shape of a semicircle, it is enough to “cut” the finished weaving pattern. Knitting will not go in a circle, but in straight and return rows.

Original pompom rugs

Rugs made from pompoms are very successful. They bring coziness and comfort to the house. In order to knit a carpet from such elements, you will need the following materials:

  • thick woolen threads for knitting;
  • mesh base for the future product;
  • scissors.

Rug made of pompoms

You can take a variety of mesh bases to form a carpet, but plastic canvas is best. This is a mesh with fairly large holes. Nets are available in a variety of sizes and shapes. This plastic canvas does not crumble when cut and does not unravel. The future base can be given any shape.

Pompoms for the future rug can be made in different colors or even different sizes, it all depends on everyone’s taste preferences.

Scheme for making a rug from pompoms

Pompoms can be made in different ways

  1. One of the most famous and old methods is using cardboard circles. You will need 2 equal sized circles with holes in the middle. To get a pompom, you need to wind knitting threads around circles, then carefully cut the threads on the sides. Spread the cardboard “steering wheels” and connect the middle with thread. Remove the cardboard and fluff the finished pompom. To make it fluffy, you can fold the threads in half or three times when winding. The more yarn you wrap on the cardboard, the fluffier the finished pompom will be.
  2. If you need to make small pompoms, you can use a regular dinner fork. You need to wind the yarn across the cloves and knit in the middle of the skein. Remove the yarn from the fork and carefully cut along the sides.
  3. You can not use improvised materials, but make pompoms on your fingers. To do this, wind the threads around your fingers (use 2, 3 or 4 fingers), then remove the yarn from your hand and place it carefully on the surface. Tie the resulting skein crosswise with a thread, cut the yarn on the sides and fluff it up.

If you need to make small pompoms, you can use a regular dinner fork.

When the working materials are ready, you can begin making the rug. To do this, you need to snap each element to the grid. If pompoms of different colors were prepared, the color scheme should be followed.

If desired, you can sew or knit the backing so that the new rug is beautiful on both sides. In the absence of a mesh, any dense fabric is taken as the basis.

An ordinary hoop is the basis for a future rug

At home, you can knit a round carpet using such improvised materials as a regular hoop (hula hoop) and unnecessary things.

Long strips are cut from unnecessary T-shirts or other things (old towels), which are subsequently connected into rings. To weave such a product, it is better to use fabric that does not stretch much, otherwise the finished rug will not hold the required shape.

It often happens that a lot of knitting threads that have been accumulated for years are suddenly discovered in the house. All these are remnants of previously connected things. They are different in color, weight, length and are not suitable for knitting a bulky item: a sweater, jumper, snood, which requires a large amount of plain yarn. It’s a pity to throw away “wealth”; you have to think about what to use it for. Crocheting beautiful original rugs can be a successful solution.

Modern hobbies with great experience

Many people are interested in knitting today. This is not just an interesting activity. It helps you concentrate and at the same time calms your nerves. Over a certain period of time, human hands create a “knitted masterpiece”, pleasing to the eye and warming in cold seasons.

Knitted items can decorate a variety of areas in an apartment or house. Their locations may be:

  • floors in central rooms;
  • floor in the bathroom and toilet;
  • floor in the hall or corridor.

At the same time, in the above places, where a floor rug already represents one of the types of interior design, the same decorative product can be used as a covering for stools and chairs. They can be used to decorate chests of drawers, bedside tables, and lower cabinets for storing shoes, which also serve as seats in hallways.

For many, it is important to somehow transform their home. Ultimately achieve a cozy atmosphere. For needlewomen who love to create, knitting rugs is a good way to train and develop their creative abilities.

And the question of where to then adapt the product can be resolved quickly. Your imagination will tell you how best to use a crocheted rug with your own hands.

Where to find inspiration

To be able to knit a beautiful carpet, it is advisable to have before your eyes a color illustration depicting a sample. The easiest way is to find photos of knitted rugs on the Internet.

Today, many home craftswomen are happy to post pictures of their work on the Internet. This limitless platform gives them great opportunities. Many of them start their own pages, helping with advice, consulting and telling newcomers where to start working. How to become a first-class needlewoman yourself.

The exchange of information takes place via the Internet, the most accessible collection of necessary data for many, and individual manuals in the form of printed literature.

Detailed video lessons are recognized as the best type of training. Studying patterns and descriptions of knitting certain rug models can take a long time and painstakingly. It is not a fact that the information will be correctly absorbed. Designations, signs, encrypting actions are sometimes incomprehensible. Once you see the process, you can internalize it and carry it out without fear of making mistakes.

Popular questions from beginners.

Beginners are most often interested in:

What's the best way to choose colors? In this case, attention is focused on the combination of colors. On the interaction of bright, soft or rough tones. If we remember that among household yarn scraps it is difficult to find many colored “joyful” shades, we have to combine what seems to be gloomy tones. With a skillful approach, the colors will sparkle in a new way.

How to choose the right hook. This tool, just like knitting needles, has its own varieties. To ensure that your fingers don’t feel tension while knitting a rug, it is important to know which hook is best to use. This instrument, as stated, has several types.

Known plastic hooks, wooden, metal (steel), aluminum. There are bone and combined options. The listed species are attractive, each in their own way. Some are more popular, for example, steel hooks or combined ones.

Other types are less in demand (wooden, bone). To ensure that the rug does not come out hard, but is pleasant to the touch, the choice of hook is no less important than the selection of colors.

From beginner to professional

All masters have a large school behind them, the training in which may not yet be completed. For beginners, entering elementary classes in needlework and moving further to reach the master class level promises to be an interesting period in life. Some people call it a passion, a hobby. Someone begins to see this as their calling.

Knitted rugs are just the beginning of a creative career. This may be followed by openwork tablecloths, bedspreads and other voluminous items.

Photos of crocheted rugs

Many of us remember our grandmother's soft, bright rugs, knitted from old clothes cut into ribbons. They were not only laid on the floor, but also covered stools, benches, and even made beds and sofas with them. Today, this economical way to create amazing, unique things is still in use. The incredible variety of knitting materials, descriptions, and patterns proves: nothing creates home comfort like things made with your own hands.

Peculiarities

A knitted carpet can be found in any room, on the area in front of the front door or in the country house. Each of them has its own function, based on which the shape, color, material, pattern and knitting technique are selected. Although there are knitted patterns, most rugs are made with a special crochet hook. Depending on the selected material, take the corresponding hook number.

The popularity of knitted rugs is no coincidence: they have a lot of obvious advantages:

  • each of them is a unique embodiment of the taste and imagination of its creator.
  • They match the interior features of a particular room, becoming a bright accent of a harmonious image.
  • Their cost is extremely low. Yarn consumption is low, and often things that were going to be thrown away are even used.
  • Caring for them is easy.
  • They are an excellent illustration of the combination of useful and pleasant. For many people, the process of knitting is the best relaxation and a wonderful way to calm down and relieve nervous tension.

Species

Craftswomen use a wide variety of materials, from expensive wool to multi-colored plastic bags. The advantage of wool products is their hygroscopicity, softness and warmth. Most often, camel, goat or sheep wool is chosen for knitting. Such rugs are expensive and quickly lose their shape from frequent washing.

This disadvantage is absent in models knitted from combined yarn. Synthetic fibers provide its strength, and the wool included in the composition perfectly retains heat. Such threads are durable and are not afraid of washing.

Original, light, openwork rugs made of knitted yarn can be laid in any room except the bathroom. Constant contact with water is contraindicated for them. To have a cute knitted carpet in your home, you don’t need to buy a special thread. You can make it out of fabric! Many people enjoy using old knitwear. They are cut into ribbons, which are then either sewn together or simply tied together.

If you don’t find any old things in the house, you can knit rugs from special ribbon yarn. Since it is much thicker than usual, knitting will not take much time.

Silky and shiny, the jute rug looks great in any interior and is very durable. A significant disadvantage is the difficulties that arise during the washing process. When wet, it becomes 4-5 times heavier, making it difficult to rinse and dry. In summer, such a product will dry for at least three days. Dry it only in a horizontal position, turning it over often.

Rugs made from polyester cord have many advantages. They do not slip on tiled floors, do not collect dust, are not afraid of moisture and have a massage effect. This model will last a very long time, will not fade and will retain its shape for a long time. It is very easy to care for; just machine wash it at 30C.

Very durable rugs that are ideal for bathrooms are made from plastic bags. They, like unnecessary clothes, are cut into small ribbons, which are either glued together using a hot iron or simply tied together.

The fluffy rugs made using the fillet technique are cute. Pile is added to the base mesh, for example, from “grass” yarn.

Forms

Rugs can be solid or knitted from individual motifs. It’s easier to knit a whole fabric, but a product made from motifs looks more impressive. Each piece has its own shape and is knitted from a material of a certain color and texture. These parts make rugs of the most unusual shapes. After assembling the product, the edges are processed with openwork edging.

Thanks to the ability to make rugs of various shapes, such products fit very well into the interior. In addition to the traditional square, rectangular, round and oval, craftswomen knit carpets in the shape of a star, snowflake, flower or any animal (bear, turtle, etc.). Often there are asymmetrical, fantasy options.

A simple dense circle-shaped carpet will perfectly retain heat. Graceful openwork round products serve more of an aesthetic function. They are too thin to keep you warm.

Square rugs seem too simple, so they are often made by connecting several multi-colored squares. Variegated rectangular specimens, especially those with tassels along the edges, are quite popular. Sometimes they are a fabric sewn from several connected squares.

Oval products are designed for elongated rooms. They are often placed in the seating area in living rooms. You can place a semicircular rug near the stairs or next to the interior doors.

The shape of a bathroom product is often determined by the free floor area. Here you can place funny crocheted animals or lay out an asymmetrical rug.

Dimensions

The size and shape of the carpet are determined by the area of the room. Volumetric products are usually rectangular or round. It is more convenient to knit a large carpet from rope, knitwear, or dense yarn. For small rugs, use acrylic or wool blend yarn.

Different styles

For a room in a minimalist style, a moil made of white or gray yarn, as well as threads of pastel colors, is suitable. A rectangular or square shape of the product would be most appropriate. Asymmetry can disrupt the harmony of soft colors and straight lines. The softness of a cute knit will soften the restraint and clarity of minimalism.

Touching carpets look harmonious even in a modernist style, and in a room designed in this direction, they can not only be placed on the floor, but also hung on the wall. Bright and colorful rugs made from shreds will find their place in a room decorated in a country style or in a country house. The room can be decorated not only with a classic multi-colored round product, but also with the creation of craftswomen in the Japanese style. Hollow circles crocheted are intertwined in the most bizarre way, creating unique and memorable images.

Knitted carpets with whimsical airy patterns have firmly established themselves in shabby chic style rooms. Lovers of “shabby chic” prefer colors that are uncharacteristic for floor mats: white, beige, light blue, pink.

In various rooms

Rugs in the shape of cartoon characters or funny animals, as well as options consisting of individual motifs, will fit perfectly in a children's room. You can knit several models in the same style: a bedside rug, a rug for a play area, etc. To prevent children from freezing while playing on the floor, it is better to choose a model with cones for their room. This knitting technique allows you to create denser carpets that retain heat better.

The hallway rug must be knitted from very durable and thick synthetic, blended yarn or from plastic bags and polyester cord, otherwise it will fail very quickly. Using a similar principle, we select or knit items for the toilet and bathroom. In addition, these rooms have very high humidity, so it is necessary to purchase material that is not afraid of water and frequent washing. An additional requirement is that the mat should not slip on wet tiles.

Luxurious openwork carpets are designed for the bedroom and living room. They rightfully become a real decoration of the room. By the way, such products can be safely laid on any floor, be it laminate, parquet, linoleum or tile.

Round crocheted rug for the floor for beginners: diagram, description, master class, photo

There was a time when we actively threw away textile rugs knitted by grandmothers from old yarn and scraps, even from dachas and summer houses. But a few years ago, just such rugs became trendy, but with some modifications. So - we knit fashionable grandma's rugs.

For knitting, we need bright knitted yarn of one or more colors. If it’s too expensive for your budget, you can make this yarn yourself from old knitted T-shirts. Details on how to do this in the video below.

Video: Yarn from a T-shirt. Knitted Improvisation

The yarn is ready, let's start knitting! We take the thickest hook that is in the house and start knitting. Remember, the ease of work and density of the mat depends on the size of the hook. We knit an air loop and carefully hem it with thread No. 40 to match the knitted yarn for convenience. And we start knitting:

Row 1: 2 chain stitches and 11 double crochets.

2nd row: 2 chain loops and 2 double crochets from each loop (according to the diagram).

3rd row: 2 double crochets and 2 double crochets from one loop (according to the diagram).

Row 4 and subsequent ones: according to the pattern, each time adding one double crochet in each section.

We knit the last row to the end and tighten the last loop tightly. As at the beginning of knitting, we hem the edge with thread No. 40 for strength.

Please note that such a rug can be knitted with either plain or multi-colored threads. But it is important that the colors come in sections, and not ripple like our grandmothers. It is this trick that distinguishes fashionable models from grandma's rugs.

Crocheted square rug for the floor from old tights: diagram with description and photo

For those who have already cut up all the T-shirts, but really want to create, don’t be discouraged and take out the tights! In this section we will teach you how to knit an interesting and very original rug from tights! So, we will need everything, we will notice everything! Unnecessary tights and granular filler of your choice, it can be holofiber, silicone, etc.

We cut the tights into different pieces from 10 to 20 cm; different colors of tights will give the rug texture. We sew each piece on one side, fill it and sew it tightly into a “pebble”. If the tights are thin, we wrap one stone in several layers of tights so that the filler is not visible. We sew the “pebbles” together and sew them to the base. The rug of “soft stones” is ready!

Well, that's not the only way to turn the ordinary into the wonderful. We complement our master class with several inspiring videos.

Crocheted oval rug for the floor from old T-shirts: diagram with description and photo

And in this section we will tell you how to create a beautiful oval rug from old T-shirts or knitted yarn. We talked about exactly how to cut and fasten T-shirts in the first section and won’t dwell on that.

We collect from 6 or more air loops. Limitations - the size of the place where the rug will lie. The calculation is simple - the width of the desired product is divided in half and subtracted from the length of the product. Do not forget that when knitting the chain stretches by 30-40%.

After finishing knitting, you can sew/glue the rug to the base so that it is rigid and does not bunch up at the edges.

Another simple and original rug, now made from old jeans. We will need a large mesh from a hardware store and jeans cut into 5*15 cm pieces.

At each crossing of the mesh, use a hook to thread a piece of denim fabric and tie it in a knot so that the ends diverge in different directions. If desired, the ends can be slightly tousled, then the rug will look even more delicate. Just? Yes! Beautiful - of course! Ideal for youth housing.

The same option looks great with knitted pieces.

For those who want to knit an openwork rug, you can take both cord and knitted yarn. The essence of knitting will not change because of this, but the size and, naturally, thickness of the carpet directly depends on the thickness of the yarn. Please note that openwork rugs, unlike dense products, cannot be glued to a dense lining.

Knitting is quite simple. One air loop is hemmed for strengthening and further according to the diagrams below.

Don’t forget to also thread and reinforce the last loop at the end.

Crochet rug for the bathroom floor made from plastic bags

A bathroom rug made from plastic bags looks very impressive. But its production will require a lot of effort and time. This is worth remembering before you start working.

Preparation: cut strips of equal thickness from garbage bags (or any other dense ones) (3 cm for thinner ones and 1.5 cm for dense ones). We cut lengthwise and then tie it with neat sea knots.

Since the technique of knitting from a series is easier to see once than to read a hundred times, we are attaching three step-by-step videos on which you will probably quickly knit your first and perhaps not the last rug from bags.

Now it's time for the amazing rugs for the stools. To work, we will need all kinds of leftover yarn, or purchase a lot of multi-colored threads.

We knit 12 air loops and connect them into a single ring, after that we knit 5 air loops and knit the core - 24 columns with 5 crochets. The element is ready. Next, we knit exactly as much as required and use threads and a gypsy needle to sew the elements into a single rug.

Video: Crochet rug made from motifs with twisted columns (rug crochet)

Sometimes you need a simple, yet durable rug, most often for the veranda, hallway or dacha. In order for dust and fine dirt to pass through it well, and for minimal maintenance, a mat without a lining is required. Rope and thin thread are great for this.

So, we take the rope, fold it as in the photo and stitch it with thread No. 40. And then we knit layer by layer in single crochets so that the cord is always inside. These can be both small and very impressive carpets.

If you want the carpet to be oval, then instead of a circle, tie a cord of the required length around the first row and then just like in a knitted rug, only with a cord inside.
