rhiannonbosse.com

This option is suitable for those who want to diversify a regular old garland.

What do you need

  • white paper cups;
  • a sheet of plain paper;
  • pencil;
  • scissors;
  • scrapbooking paper;
  • glue or double-sided tape;
  • stationery knife;
  • electric garland.

How to do

First you need to make a “wrapper” for the cups. To do this, cut one glass in half, cut off the bottom and edges. Flatten it, place it on plain paper and make a template.

Place the template on the back of the scrapbooking paper and cut out as many “wrappers” as you have cups. By the way, you can choose any color of paper. Just try to match the color with the electric garland.

Then wrap the cups in paper and secure the edges with glue or double-sided tape.

Make cross-shaped cuts in the bottom of each cup with a utility knife. Insert the light bulbs of the electric garland into the slits. An unusual New Year's garland is ready!

Making such a beautiful soft garland is very simple. The amount of material depends on the desired length of the decoration.

What do you need

  • white and red felt strips 2.5 cm wide;
  • 2 needles;
  • threads

How to do

Place the white felt strip on the red one and secure them with needles on both sides. Then make longitudinal cuts in the middle of the strips at the same distance from each other.

purlsoho.com

If you want to make a very long garland, cut the felt gradually: make no more than five cuts at once, proceed to weaving, and then repeat the procedure. Thanks to this scheme, the stripes will not move out, and it will be much easier for you.

To make a two-color braid, insert the end of the strip into the first hole and pull tight to prevent the strips from unraveling. Then thread the garland through all the other holes in the same way.

Trim and sew the strips to each other at the ends of the finished garland so that they do not stick out. By the way, you can combine any colors of your choice. For example, these:

These miniature stars look like glass, although they are made of simple cellophane! This material is not as pliable as paper, but such an unusual garland is worth the work done.

What do you need

  • cellophane;
  • lined sheet of paper;
  • scissors;
  • thin needle;
  • thin threads.

How to do

Cut the cellophane into strips. It is more convenient to do this by placing a lined sheet of paper under the cellophane. Please note that the length of the strips must be at least 30 times their width. In other words, if the width is 1 cm, then the length must be at least 30 cm.

Then make stars out of the strips as shown in this video:

Carefully pierce the stars with a needle threaded with a long thread. The stars should be a short distance from each other.

By the way, garlands made of paper stars also look very beautiful. Therefore, choose the material to your taste.

Choose tartlets in classic New Year's colors: green, red and white. Both adults and children will like such bright Christmas trees.

What do you need

  • multi-colored paper tartlets (muffin tins);
  • glue;
  • decorative sequins in the shape of stars;
  • twine or ribbon;
  • scotch.

How to do

Fold the paper mold in quarters to form a triangle.

Coat the corners of the two triangles with glue. Place three triangles on top of each other and glue them together to form a Christmas tree. In the same way, make as many Christmas trees as you need for your garland.

Decorate them with sequins. If you can't find star-shaped sequins, just cut them out of colored cardboard.

Then tape the Christmas trees to the twine or ribbon at a short distance from each other. The garland is ready! Decorate with it or hang it on the wall.

Very simple and beautiful!

This beautiful garland looks very impressive and is very easy to make. If you don't have twine, you can use thick thread or yarn.

What do you need

  • balloons;
  • petrolatum;
  • ½ liter of PVA glue;
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch;
  • 2 tablespoons warm water;
  • twine;
  • needle;
  • electric garland.

How to do

Inflate balloons of the same size. Note: a garland of small balls will look more beautiful. Lubricate them with Vaseline. This is necessary so that the string does not stick tightly to the balls.

Mix glue, starch and water. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water. Just don't overdo it so it's not too runny.

Soak the twine in the resulting adhesive solution. Then wrap the rope around the balls. The easiest way to do this is by hanging the balls from some kind of rail. Just do not forget in this case to place an oilcloth under them, where the excess glue will drain. The density of the balls of the future garland depends on how much twine you wind.

Leave the balls to dry overnight. Then poke a needle through each balloon to make it pop. First check whether the string is stiff enough and whether the finished ball will hold its shape. Carefully remove the balloon.

Then insert electric garland bulbs into the twine balls. If the balls turn out to be very dense, then you can make holes in them with scissors or a pen.

For such a garland you need thick paper, such as cardstock. But thin cardboard will do just fine.

What do you need

  • thick paper (gray and several other colors to choose from);
  • scissors;
  • hole punch;
  • glue;
  • twine.

How to do

Cut the gray paper into strips measuring 3 × 10 cm. The parameters of the strips from the rest of the paper are 2.5 × 20 cm. The number of strips depends on the desired length of the garland.

Fold the gray strips into octagons and use a hole punch to make holes for the twine as shown in the photo. Then glue the edges of the octagons.

stubbornlycrafty.com

Now make the “light bulbs”. To do this, fold the long strip in half, only lightly running your fingers along the fold. Holding the strip by the ends, press it into your palm. When you release the paper, it will take the shape of a light bulb.

stubbornlycrafty.com

At the ends of the strip, exactly in the middle, use a hole punch to make a hole for the twine. Pass the string first through one hole on the gray octagon, then through the “light bulb”, and finally into the second hole of the octagon. Repeat these steps with all the other parts and align the “light bulbs” along the length of the twine.

Such beauty can become not only New Year's decor, but also a decoration for a children's room.

What do you need

  • packaging of A4 paper;
  • template(download);
  • scissors;
  • glue stick;
  • double-sided tape;
  • threads

How to do

Print and cut out the templates, trace them on sheets of paper as shown in the picture below. For the garland you need 24 first and second parts of the lanterns and 126 stars. And to speed up the process, draw stars on sheets of paper folded four times.

Cut out all the parts.

acupofthuy.com

Take one piece of the flashlight and coat one side with glue. Glue the same part to it. One flashlight should consist of six identical parts. Just don't glue the sides of the first and sixth pieces together until you've made the loop.

To do this, apply double-sided tape to the fold. Glue the thread from bottom to top, make a small loop on top, then glue the thread from top to bottom and cut off the excess. Now you can glue the sides of the first and last parts.

Repeat the same with the rest of the lantern parts. In total you will get 8 flashlights.

acupofthuy.com

Using the same pattern, make 21 three-dimensional stars. The only difference will be in the gluing of the thread. It must be pulled through three stars, making a loop on the top one.

Now pull the thread through all the loops, forming such a beautiful garland:

It’s enough to simply cut out the parts according to the finished template and decorate them with sparkles.

What do you need

  • thin cardboard;
  • template(download);
  • scissors;
  • office glue;
  • colored glitter;
  • twine.

How to do

Print on thin cardstock and cut out the templates along solid lines. The number of parts needed depends on the desired length of the garland. Bend the pieces along the dotted lines.

After one, grease the triangles on the templates with glue and sprinkle with glitter. When the glue is dry, shake them off. You may need to repeat these steps one more time until the triangles are completely covered in glitter.

Then apply glue to the semicircular parts on the templates and glue the figures together. Stretch string through the figures. If you're afraid you won't be able to do this, run a string through each figure before gluing, not after.

These Christmas trees can be decorated with anything: sequins, sparkles or buttons. Use your imagination!

What do you need

  • green tissue paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • yellow cardboard;
  • red cardboard;
  • twine.

How to do

Flatten the tissue paper. By the way, this can be done using an iron, setting it to the lowest temperature. Fold a long sheet in half crosswise and cut lengthwise into two pieces. You will end up with two long strips folded in the middle. Make long cuts on them, leaving part of the fold untouched. You will need as many of these parts as the number of Christmas trees you want to make for the garland.

thepartyteacher.com

Unfold the strip and twist it thinly. Make a loop at the bend and twist it several times so that it does not fall apart. If desired, you can secure it with glue.

thepartyteacher.com

Tie the resulting Christmas trees to the twine. Then cut out stars from yellow cardboard, and circles from red cardboard and glue them. Try to secure the stars so that the knots on the twine are not visible.

And finally, an option for those who don’t have time to make anything, but have a great desire to update their New Year’s decor.

What do you need

  • beautiful Christmas balls;
  • twine.

How to do

All you need to do is pass the string through the loops of the Christmas balls, tying it in knots and placing the balls at the same distance from each other.

How to make New Year's garlands with your own hands? - a question that deserves attention, because garlands decorate not only the Christmas tree, but also the house as a whole. You can decorate the fireplace, shelves, cabinets, doors and windows with a garland. In general, who cares what. Below you will find various master classes on how to create New Year's garlands with your own hands.

Start preparing for the new year early. By the way, almost all tutorials on creating New Year's garlands can be brought to life together with children.

How to make Christmas garlands from paper with your own hands

I think no one has a shortage of paper; you can use colored paper or use old unnecessary newspapers, magazines or worthless books. In general, let's start with examples of how to make paper garlands with your own hands.

The first method brings back memories of post-Soviet garlands: you probably also cut out thin strips of paper at school and glued them together, intertwining them with each other. True, this garland has been slightly updated. To create it you will need thick paper, you can even use cardboard and a knife for cutting out circles or a hole punch. In short, you need to cut out a lot of circles with holes inside - and how you cut them is up to you. When you have made a sufficient number of circles, start assembling the garland. You will need to cut one circle at a time (photo No. 5), and then use this “notched” circle to connect two whole circles (photo No. 6), and continue this until the last circle is used. I hope you understand the progress of the work. You can safely decorate your Christmas tree with the finished garland.

You can make a beautiful garland if you use circles without holes, and it is better to make them of different sizes. In this case, the finished circles will need to be sewn together; for this you will need parchment paper (in principle, regular paper will do, but the thinner it is, the better). Place the circles on the paper in a row in one line and pass them through the sewing machine, then simply tear the “auxiliary” paper and throw it away, and the circles will remain on a neat line.

You can sew together not only circles: cut out snowflakes, stars, squirrels, Christmas trees or people - you will get a beautiful garland.

In addition, such a garland can be diversified by creating “voluminous” round timbers (just before sewing you need to fold two or three circles together and then simply straighten them).

If you don't have a sewing machine or this method is too labor-intensive for you, you can simply make holes in the shape from which you are making the garland and insert threads or ribbons through them. Or glue the figures to the base with glue.

Don’t forget that the cut out figures can be decorated with felt-tip pens, covered with glitter or colored paper. Combine different elements with each other - this will only make the garland better.

In addition to the garland itself for the Christmas tree, you can come up with some other decoration in the same style.

If you don't want to fuss with scissors, buy cupcake liners, paint them, glue them together and attach them to string or ribbon.

A beautiful garland is made from bows: make them multi-colored and combine them with tinsel. Please note in the specific case presented below, multi-colored tape was used for the bows. If you want to add extra shine to your garland, but you don’t have multi-colored tape: cover the colored paper with transparent tape, the result will be the same.

An unusual garland will come out if you cut out snowflakes from paper, as shown in the photo instructions below, and collect them on a thread with beads.

The garland and voluminous stars, despite their simplicity, look charming.

What about an origami garland? - you can make beautiful stars from long strips of paper.

How to make a New Year's garland from fabric with your own hands

Let's return to the “vintage” garland mentioned at the very beginning of the article, only this time the improvement of this “Soviet” garland is that it is made of fabric. I just couldn’t pass it by: bright fabric plus buttons - it makes a unique garland. Moreover, if you use felt, you will just need to cut the strips, and if you use some other fabric (one-sided), you will need to first sew the strips folded in half.

By the way, you can also simply cut out some shapes from felt and sew it on a machine.

Combine them with beads or cotton balls.

Buttons are also great, especially if you decide to make a Christmas tree garland. And pay attention in the example picture below, the Christmas trees are attached to the ribbon with a clothespin, which only decorates the finished garland and makes it special.

You can also make equally beautiful lollipop sticks from two colors of felt, red and white. Glue the finished “lollipops” onto the tape; you can additionally glue on some beautiful decorations.

You can also make round lollipops from felt. This time you need to combine two strips (white and red again) for reliability, you can first glue them together, then you need to roll them into tight rolls and you can string them on a thread. For beauty, add beads between them.

Or here’s an option to make a garland from felt: again, two strips are combined, we make cuts at the same distance and turn the fabric through them - as shown in the photo. It turns out to be a beautiful New Year's garland. If it is too short, you can simply make several parts and sew them together.

When talking about a felt garland, one cannot help but recall felt balls. Felted balls will bring unique comfort to your home.

First, briefly about how easy it is to make felted balls. To make them, stock up on leftover woolen threads, combed wool for felting and nylon tights. Cover the ball of thread on all sides with combed wool in several layers and in different directions. Next, place the resulting ball in tights (golf) and tie them with knots on both sides (one golf, therefore, can accommodate several balls). Wash the finished design in a washing machine at high temperature with powder (note that your yarn may lose color, so it is better to wash the test ball first and adjust the temperature). This option is suitable for those who need large balls, if you need small ones: make it from one wool. Use your hands, soap and hot tap water will help you.

We string the finished balls onto a thread and admire the extraordinary New Year's garland.

Of course, this is a troublesome way to make a garland; you can buy some ready-made balls in the store and string them on a thread.

You can also make wool pompoms or cotton balls.

Or combine all the methods together: use blankets, felted balls and felt flowers.

Other fabrics are also suitable for creating a garland. You can make flowers from fabric, or cut out beautiful Christmas trees, or you can simply tie strips of fabric around an electric garland.

Or here’s a seemingly unusual way to make a New Year’s garland with your own hands: tie pebbles in a long strip of fabric. Agree, it makes an interesting garland.

We make original garlands with our own hands

The first option to make a beautiful garland with your own hands is not so much original as it is timeless. To bring it to life, you can buy polymer clay or use salt dough the old fashioned way. Paint the finished elements for the garland and further decorate them with buttons, beads, rhinestones, sparkles, etc.

Speaking of dough: bake cookies according to your favorite recipe (add more cinnamon to them - this will make not just a beautiful and unusual garland, but also fragrant) in the shape of people, make holes in them and string them like “buttons” on a thread or tape.

And another option for an “edible” garland is to buy lollipops in the form of sticks and twist them into a garland in the form of a chain - you get a beautiful, and most importantly, delicious garland.

You can make a beautiful holiday garland of pine cones with your own hands. Screw (or glue) hooks into the cones, make holes in the tape and simply insert the hooks into them. As you can see, a garland of cones is quite easy to make with your own hands.

The second option is to make a garland of cones: screw loops, rather than hooks, into the cone, thread twine into them and tie knots. And remember that the cones can be beautifully painted, sprinkled with glitter or decorated with gold leaf.

To create an unusual New Year's garland, you can use ordinary coils or stars made of wire - wrap them with a beautiful thread and decorate your Christmas tree.

Or you can cover the twine thread with small foam balls.

Larger foam plastic balls also look beautiful; cover them with glitter and string them on a thread alternating with beads.

A fairy garland can be made using a pretty ribbon and matching beads.

If you need a garland to decorate your fireplace, you can't think of anything better than Christmas tree balls. Select balls of suitable colors, preferably different sizes, and carefully string them onto the wire.

Or you can decorate the mantelpiece with live branches of a spruce plant and complement it all with a delicate garland of small bells, beads and foil hearts.

And finally, my favorite ideas. Probably every home has an ordinary electric garland: the simplest one. And do you know what you can do with it? - you can decorate it, thereby you will get an unusual and very beautiful New Year's garland.

You can decorate the garland with paper flowers or cut out stars from cardboard.

Wool pom-poms, or even better, ping pong balls, will look great.

And if you are planning to have a New Year's party with friends, you simply must make a New Year's garland from paper or plastic disposable cups. You just need to pick up colored paper with a New Year's theme and paste it over the cups. Then make a crosswise cut in the bottom of each cup and insert garland bulbs. It turns out beautiful.

These are, in my opinion, good ideas for making a New Year's garland with your own hands. I hope you liked it and will create something with your own hands. Happy New Year!

Many people notice that the older they get, the more difficult it is to re-experience that magical feeling of a fairy tale and miracle that always came to us as children on New Year's Eve.

But we're in website We are sure that the New Year's mood will not keep you waiting if you make one of these wonderful decorations for your home and Christmas tree with your own hands. Almost all of them, with the exception of two or three, do not require much time and any special materials - they can be made in half an hour from what is at hand.

Stars made of threads

Wreath made of balloons and an old hanger

In just half an hour, you can make a colorful wreath by purchasing a couple of sets of inexpensive balloons. Blogger Jennifer, the author of this article, recommends straightening out an old hanger, but if you don't have one, a piece of strong wire will do just fine.

  • You will need: a couple of sets of balls (20-25 balls of different colors and sizes), a wire hanger or wire, fir branches, braid or a ready-made decoration for decorating a wreath.

Tablecloth made of snowflakes

A delicate and surprisingly festive tablecloth will be made from snowflakes, which we have gotten our hands on since childhood. You can sit down and cut out snowflakes with the whole family, and then lay them out on the table and fasten them with small pieces of tape. A wonderful solution for entertaining guests or just having lunch with the family during the holidays.

Multi-colored hats

The cutest colored hats can be made from leftover yarn, which can be used to make a garland for a Christmas tree or to decorate a wall. Or hang them on a window or chandelier at different levels. Children over five years old will also be great at making this simple decoration. See details.

  • You will need: a roll of toilet paper for rings (or regular cardboard or thick paper), scissors, colorful yarn and a good mood.

Lamp “Snowy City”

For this charming lamp, you need to measure a piece of paper around the circumference of the jar with a small margin (for gluing), draw and cut out a simple city or forest landscape. Wrap it around the jar and place a candle inside.

  • You will need: a jar, thick paper of any color, maybe white, any candle. Another option is to cover the top of the jar with “falling snow” using a special “snow” spray, which is sold in hobby stores.

Balloons with photos

A great idea for decorating a Christmas tree or as a gift for relatives and friends. The photo needs to be rolled into a tube so that it fits into the hole of the ball, and then straightened out with a wooden stick or tweezers. Small black and white rectangular photographs are suitable, and you can also cut out the photo according to the shape of a ball or a silhouette (as in the case of a cat in the snow).

  • You will need: plastic or glass balls, photographs, various things to fill the ball - tinsel, garlands, coarse salt (for snow).

New Year's lamps

And this miracle is a matter of five minutes. It is enough to collect balls, fir branches, cones and put them in a transparent vase (or a cute jar) and add glowing garlands.

Embers

Glowing garlands, hidden among cones, branches and pine paws, create the effect of smoldering coals in the fireplace or a cozy fire. They even seem to be heating up. For this purpose, a basket that has been lying on the balcony for a hundred years, a nice bucket or, for example, a wicker container for small items from Ikea will be suitable. You will find everything else (except for the garland, of course) in the park.

Floating candles

A very simple decoration for the New Year's table or for a cozy evening with friends during the New Year holidays - a composition with candles floating in a vessel with water, cranberries and pine branches. You can use cones, orange slices, fresh flowers and leaves from a flower shop - whatever your imagination tells you. And as a candlestick - deep plates, vases, jars, glasses, the main thing is that they are transparent.

Snowman on the refrigerator or door

Children will definitely be delighted with this - it’s fast, fun and very simple, because even a three-year-old can handle cutting out large parts. It is enough to cut out circles, a nose and a scarf from self-adhesive paper, wrapping paper or colored cardboard and attach them to regular or double-sided tape.

Snowflakes on the window

Interesting use for a glue gun lying around. In order to glue these snowflakes to the glass, just press them lightly to the surface. For details see our video.

  • You will need: a stencil with a snowflake drawn with a black marker, tracing paper (parchment, baking paper), a glue gun and a little patience.

Christmas trees-candies

You can build bright Christmas trees with your kids for a children's party or decorate a festive table with them. Cut out triangles from colored paper or cardboard, attach with tape to a toothpick and stick the resulting Christmas trees into the candies.

  • You will need: Hershey's Kisses or any other truffle candies, toothpicks, tape, colored paper or cardboard with a design.

Garland with photographs and drawings

New Year, Christmas - warm, family holidays. And it will come in very handy with photographs, children's drawings, and pictures. The easiest way to secure them is with clothespins, which can be decorated with hearts or snowflakes.

Origami star

Painted spoons

Ordinary metal spoons or wooden cooking spoons are transformed into interesting New Year's decorations using acrylic paints. Kids will definitely love this idea. If you bend the handle of metal spoons, you can hang them on the Christmas tree. And wooden spoons will look great in the kitchen or in a bouquet with fir branches.

Snowman made from a sock

The most popular and interesting ways to make garlands with your own hands.

Paper garlands. Rainbow of ribbons

You can hang this garland both vertically and horizontally. In the latter case, it is better to attach a weight, such as plasticine, to the end of the thread.

1. Fold the colored paper in half and cut the halves.

2. Cut strips of colored paper.

3. Prepare the thread and fold your strips in the desired sequence.

4. Sew all the strips together using a sewing machine or thread and needle.

*You can twist the ribbon to make the garland look “fluffy”.

* Colored paper or cardboard can be replaced with wrapping paper, which is usually used to wrap gifts.

* If you don't want to stitch, you can try gluing a thread to each strip - it will take more time and it would be desirable for the thread to be thicker.

How to make a garland. New Year's rings

This method of making a garland is one of the most popular. This is not only because it is quite simple, but also because it allows you to make beautiful paper decorations for your home, and in particular for your Christmas tree.

1. Prepare colored paper and measure the same width for the strips you will cut.

2. Start cutting out strips. The length of each will be equal to the width of a sheet of paper (i.e. 21 cm) and the width is approximately 3.5 cm.

* You can make a garland from shorter and narrower strips, then the rings will be smaller.

3. Glue the strips together by threading one through the other (see picture).

*You can close the circuit.

Paper New Year's garlands. Unusual chains

Prepare colored paper, scissors and glue. Making such a garland is not difficult.

1. To make an unusual chain, you need to fold a sheet of paper in half and draw, for example, one of the shapes shown in the picture.

* In order not to waste a whole sheet of paper on one link, you can cut it into 2 or 4 identical parts, from which you will then cut out the links.

* For convenience, you can make a link template.

2. Cut out the shapes and start gluing them together to form a chain, threading one link through the other.

*The longer you want to make the chain, the more links you will need.

*You can use many different colors to make the garland even more colorful.

Making a paper garland to decorate your home

You can use 2 or more colors.

1. First you need to make a blank. Cut several strips of the same size. In the picture, the stripes are 2 cm wide and 17 cm long.

* It is advisable that you observe the following condition: width/length of strips = 1/8 + 1 cm spare.

2. Mark the center of the strip by folding it in half and then spreading it out.

3. Bend the ends of the strip towards its middle and fold the strip in half again.

4. Prepare several of these blanks to start assembling the garland. The picture shows how to stack the blanks together.

* This garland can be hung on the wall. Due to the fact that it does not bend much, it will be difficult to hang it on the Christmas tree, but it still looks impressive.

We make a garland for any holiday

The pictures contain detailed instructions on how to assemble the garland cordially.

This version of the garland can be complicated, and you will get such a beautiful product.

Garlands for the New Year. Colorful home decoration

You can use colored paper to make this colorful decoration for your home. It is suitable for both the New Year and any children's holiday.

Prepare colored paper, scissors and glue (you can replace it with a stapler or tape).

The picture shows how to make the blanks.

* It is desirable that the strips have the same width.

Use glue, a stapler or tape to hold the pieces together.

Using the same technology you can make a garland like this. And you can find out how to do everything correctly from the video below the picture.

Garland on the window

Here is a fairly simple but very original idea for a garland that can be hung on a window or just somewhere in the house.

The images show step-by-step instructions on how to make a garland.

* In the Christmas tree, the hole through which the thread is threaded is made with a hole punch.

Garland for the Christmas tree. Funny candy wrappers

Very beautiful tinsel can be made from ordinary candy wrappers.

1. Cut the candy wrapper into several identical pieces.

*Parts can be 2x4 or 3x5, and depending on the size of the wrapper, there can be 3, 4 or 6 parts.

* For convenience, you can make a template that will help make all parts of the tinsel the same size.

2. Start twisting each rectangle into a tube, but do not let go so that it does not unroll.

3. Prepare a thick thread with a needle and start stringing the tubes one by one. The edges of the tubes turn around - this is good, because... the tinsel will turn out fluffy.

4. You can make a knot at the end of the thread so that the tubes do not jump off.

* After stringing all the tubes, turn them in different directions.

New Year's garlands made of paper. Origami

1. We make preparations. For one step of the garland you will need 2 strips of different shades.

* The length of one strip is 21 cm (which is the width of a regular A4 sheet), and the width is 3.5 cm.

2. Start folding the strips sequentially as shown in the picture.

*The final goal is to make two long ribbons that will form a rainbow.

3. We connect the end of one tape to the other at an angle of 90 degrees.

4. Continue folding the strips sequentially - vertical down, horizontal across.

* The circuit can be closed if desired.
